Anyone read these?

I'm reading all 3 right now and have caught up with I am a Hero.

I am a Hero is an award-winning series about a "zombie" outbreak, and how people try to survive and organise themselves after the outbreak. If you like realism you will probably enjoy this. Most do not survive, and most are not ninjas or ridiculously strong. Being set mostly in Japan there are also few guns. The first 15 chapters are quite boring since it just shows you the everyday life of the main character, who is a manga assistant and doesn't associate with the most likeable people and isn't that likeable himself. He also has hallucinations which might be confusing to start with although now you know so they probably won't be so confusing. He does other random stuff like dancing too which can be confusing as well, but once the outbreak happens he starts to mellow out due to the situation he's in, and one component of the series is showing how the main character changes. If you thought Attack on Titan was good you may like this although it took me about 140 chapters to realise how similar the 2 series are (btw I dropped Attack on Titan at like episode 7 or something). It's not an action-based series since it has a lot of dialogue and is more about people running away from something they can't really fight much, and people trying to figure out the true nature of the "zombies". That said it is still exciting and has a fair bit of suspense.

Dorohedoro is about some guy who had his head/body transformed by a magic user, and is trying to find the person who transformed his head so he can get his memories/old head back. I'm not usually a fan of magic series due to the fact that with magic the notion of logic can often just be disregarded but with Dorohedoro it's not an action-based series so there's not much to worry about in terms of logical fighting, and the series generally doesn't use magic in a ridiculous way as each magic user has one set power. The series is mostly a mystery series since it focuses on one character searching for his body, and a group of magic users who are searching for the aforementioned character since he's killed multiple magic users. One thing that's unique about this series is that the groups of characters on both sides of the story get equal treatment, as in the magic users looking for the guy who originally seems to be the main character are not shown as villains but just as another group with their own intentions and relationships. I've seen series where the villains are developed, but here there just are no villains really.

Uzumaki is a horror series about spirals. It's okay, and quite short. It can be creepy, especially when you think about it later, but then it can also be comical which I don't think it was meant to be. It's still impressive that Junji Ito managed to write a whole manga with the central evil being spirals. There are a lot of ways spirals can cause manipulate people and cause damage it seems....

Still need to try I am Hero. The others sound...ok.

I just looked up Uzumaki. lol
Probably gonna read that one too then.

Btw, didn't know you read/watched Attack on Titan. Would you recommend it to me? I thought about trying it before, but I have no idea if I'd like it or not.

I dunno I recommended Attack on Titan to my friend who has never really watched anime or read manga thinking it would be a good current series for him....then it got to a certain point I was like "bleh" and dropped it after a couple more episodes. I think it's pretty overrated but it's not bad. Has some good mystery to it but that's all I think. It gets all stupid with the music and I dunno just didn't like it seemed like it was trying to be all cool. I heard it takes too long for things to happen too, but the manga is better for that. You could try it because you might like it. It's not a bad series. Ask Grungie he probably knows....well he doesn't fanboy over Sword Art Online anyway.

I think I am a Hero is probably better than Titan though (saying "probably" because I haven't read the Titan manga).

Uzumaki is ok. Dorohedoro is good though. My avatar on that other forum is from that.

That's because Sword Art Online was kind of boring.

I ignored Attack on Titan because of the massive hype, I'm expecting to get disappointed like I was with SAO.

Yeh I was saying if you didn't follow the SAO hype maybe you'd be able to give a good opinion of whether Wahhsin should bother with Titan. Guess not though if you've not read/watched it.

@Waaaaahh:'(sin you do know I put links in the opening post?

Oooh. I just looked up pictures of it. The link you posted didn't show much of what it looks like. I read the summary of the story that you wrote, but I wanted to see what you mean with "it's about spirals". Made me lol

Looks funny and creepy in a cool way.

I've caught up with both I am a Hero and Dorohedoro.

Dorohedoro from about chapter 60 onwards gets a little more scary, and gets way more mysterious and psychological, and screws with you but it all makes sense. About 30 chapters through it seemed like it was near the end, and then again about halfway through. Usually a series only gives you that "coming to an end" feeling once in the series, so that was good. Definitely my favourite manga, although I haven't read many.

edit: "getting"---->first "gets"
