I love Heat. However, a couple hours ago in the game I just got the ability to access Gale and he seems to be more well rounded than Heat as he can use magic more efficiently. I heard towards the end of the game there are a lot of physical immune enemies and that plain sucks for Heat. So, who should I use? And what level must you be at to fight the optional bosses (I know I'm no where near close to doing that, but if its one of those almost impossible feats, I'll just forget about it)? |

i can remember just one type of phys-immune enemy in dds, the guards in the final area. i ran from them most of the time, like pretty much everything else in that last dungeon. the sammeal enemies are probably phys-immune as well but in my mind those things are more pain than they're worth unless your party is seriously loaded for bear. anyway! i used heat and gale as my main party members for pretty much the whole game. basically, heat can provide extra turns through his physicals (you have critical bonuses on him right?) and occasionally through fire magic. gale will be able to handle lots of problems with his magic, but if he has to be conservative with mp then i don't think he can contribute much to the battle unless you've been building him away from the mage archetype. and why would you do that? i used physical attacks way, way more than magic and i had no problems. i would strongly recommend you give your main fighter type a good hit-everything physical attack because it will save you lots of headaches. hint hint hint. extra bosses are all pretty rough by what i hear. i'm waiting for my second playthrough to tackle them, since it also gives me some incentive to replay if there's new content waiting for me.

Yeah, I have Heat with Critical Bonus and he also is about to learn Holy Beast, while also being a fair distance down the Ice Mantra line. I'm still not entirely sure. I've given some Noise to Argilla (probably a mistake giving out Noise early in the game but oh well) and I'm quite fond of her. I probably will need a good physical attacker because I've mostly been giving Serph points toward Ag, Vi, and Ma. With Argilla, she gets a lot of Ma and such and not so much in strength. Hm... |

gale and argilla have somewhat overlapping roles; you don't really need both of them unless you're trying to kit out an all mage party. heat sounds like he'd be a better third member since you've been building serph's magic abilities and physical attacks will certainly come in handy. |

I think I'll use Heat then. He has a lot of HP and pretty good defense so he'd be a good backup if my other party members get whacked. Now there is another question. Haha. Argilla or Gale? Gale has stronger physical attack, but I've already given Argilla some MP Noise, Ma Noise, and HP Noise to build her up a bit. Her Ma is stronger than Gale, but when it comes to attacking, she doesn't do much. Almost all her skills are healing, stat boosts, cure ailments, and that kind of stuff right now. I can change that of course, it just may take some time. |

use argilla then. you don't need a mage for their physical attacks, and if it comes down to that her and gale are both pretty much relegated to cleanup duty where their only role is killing off something heat already knocked down to critical hp. later on you get some support skills that regenerate mp, so don't worry about what they can do outside of magic because eventually that should be all they ever use. |

Nice! Thanks a lot sharc! I'll stick to my initial party of Serph, Heat, and Argilla. God I love this game! I only have 11 hours or so but I'm having a great time with it and the characters/story are extremely interesting. I just have to track down a copy of DDS2 for when I finish this one. |

Personally, I found that Heat was mostly eclipsed by Gale during the second half of the game, and Cielo is useless during DDS1 due to being weak to EVERY status attack. Therefore, I recommend a party of Serph, Argilla, and Gale. Also, an all mage party is a lot better than it sounds, particularly later on. There's so much you can get around just by using the right elementals and stat de/buffs that you'd be shocked. IMHO, this is also very true in DDS2. |

I had no trouble with my Gale/Argilla/Serph party, though I built Serph as a physical attacker, and you'll probably need at least one if you want to learn Mantras in any reasonable amount of time. Your party is a bit more fixed in DDS2, but Mutual Karma is much, much easier to obtain (and the game will likely be quite frustrating if you don't get it for all of your unused characters). |

Am I the only one crazy enough to go with the Serph, Gale, Cielo party? By the sounds of it you have a pretty solid party Grey, so I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep doing what you're doing. If need be if you're not going to use Gale as a main battle character at least make him backup worthy. He may come in handy you never know. As far as the optional bosses are concerned I'd wait till new game + to take on some of them. You'll make it far eaiser on yourself if you do it that way. Besides you can't fight Hitoshura till a 2nd playthru anyways. |

Hitoshura. Is. A. Bitch. I did like the battle, in a twisted, sadistic way. And you'll probably need Cielo for that one battle. Normal game though, I think Argilla, Serph, Heat rule. Argilla and Serph (mine was a super mage, stronger than Argilla but with craptacular other stats) were heavy single target hitters, Heat was there to Hunt and hit everyone with Phys-All skills (if possible). |

Yeah, I'm loving the H,A,S party; especially since Heat and Argilla have very contrasting views on their demon forms, at least as of now. I'm basically doing the same thing you did Darkstalker. I have Argilla and Serph as kickass mages and Heat as my hit-everyone-attacker. Thanks for all the advice guys! |
