http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21470.html?type= Cool, it's just like a movie trailer for a typical action movie. Shepard even grabs his woman and macks her halfway through! My favourite part is when Shepard says "I'll find some way to take him down" then proceeds to rape everyone using The Force. Oh well, at least I'm glad they have changed the story from Knights of the Old Republic. - Some guy to Shepard: "he won't stop until he has wiped humanity from the galaxy." - Darth Malak from KOTOR: "Wipe this pathetic planet from the face of the galaxy!" Twenty bucks says Shepard turns out to be an Alien. But Bioware's game plots aside, at least they know how to make an indepth RPG with plenty of consequences. Let's take a look: ![]() Ah yes, a myriad of different choices. Ray Muzyka of Bioware says:
Like the new dialogue system where instead of being given time to "choose" your response you get to interrupt the speaker instead to make it look like a more natural conversation? Well at least BioWare knows where to put their time and resources - into aesthetics!
Well at least they know what makes an "epic RPG".
Just like KOTOR and Jade Empire I bet.
I agree! It's like KOTOR meets 24 meets extreme super coolness!
For a company who's games exhibit none of it, they sure do like to throw around the word "depth" a lot. Though I'm entirely certain that it will be accessible! http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=155829 Looks like another AAAAA+++ super-deep RPG from BioWare! Let's all go pre-order a million copies. |

What if the third person shooter elements are actually good? |

The screen shot and link would have been enough. |

They'd have to be pretty damn good and be the main focus of the game, and from the looks of things, they aren't. If you want a good third person shooter, play one, not something that tries to be an RPG and fails and falls back on its third-person shooting elements. |

I saw nothing promising in the preview and it approached the level of self parody, but I am kind of curious about how good the combat system will be. There were some decent aspects to the combat in Jade Empire. Not many mind you, but a few, and that makes it an obvious improvement over Bioware's previous work. I'm not expecting much, but still I am curious. Although that preview went a long way towards completely killing any interest I might have; I'm not sure how much more of Bioware's epic storytelling I can take. |

Even if the third-person shooter combat is somewhat decent, it'll be no Gears of War. |

And here I am, the only one who genuinely loved KOTOR. I'm beginning to see a pattern. |

If it makes you feel better, you can join the club with me :P. Not that I like KOTOR (Although I've a friend who adores the series); I've never played it. But we can be the overwhelming minority on our own things. |

Trust me Carbunkle, knowing your feelings about other BioWare games, you really don't want to play KOTOR. |

I thought KOTOR was decent. Y'know, not super great or anything, but it's at least one of the best Star Wars games out there. Of course, it's also the only game Bioware has made that I actually liked enough to bother to finish. |

KoTOR was alright, and I like KoTOR 2 quite a bit. Then again, my Star Wars fandom doesn't make me the most objective critic. |

Oh, I'm biased and I know it. It's Star Wars. It's DnD. It really wins in those aspects. Plus, Revan is a total badass and I love his character. |

It's very pretty. That's really the extent of my interest in it, to be frank. Too Human looks more promising, I think, even if Dennis Dyack is an idiot. |

Just finished Mass Effect this afternoon... This might be spoilery. I thought it was promising at first, and overall I would say it isn't a 'bad' game. But. As the game went on, I started to dislike it more and more. Hey Bioware. Quick thought. If the meat of your game is side-quests... (Seriously, it felt like 20 to 25 hours of around 40) could you, you know, be less lazy about them? I can rationalize that every settlement building in the galaxy has one of two different designs. I'm sure there is a monopoly on prefabricated settlement buildings and you can buy either the explorer model or the ranch model. That's fine. But every MINE being the same. A dozen or more mines on a dozen or more different planets in a dozen different solar systems, and I am supposed to buy that the F$#@ing natural caves where natural resources are being harvested etc... have the same exact layout. Oh wait. They don't. They have different box placement. Trite love story element? THAT is what got FOX News in such a tizzy. THAT. 10 seconds of PG13 content? Pointless 10 seconds as well. Unfortunately I didn't choose the right dialog choices 'cause I A, wasn't buying the romance subplot and B, didn't really like either of the girls and kinda wanted Shepard to hook up with Tali. Or Kaidan. Also. Don't get me started on the F$@#ing MAKO. I swear I broke the game like 10 times, from getting the Mako lodged into an inescapable crevasse to getting inexplicably stuck and forced to save and re-load because I happened to be moving around a mine in a crouch and somehow got magically stuck to a lightpost. This is a bit off point, and clearly my hard on for Square's second division showing, but I'm wondering why The Last Remnant got raked over the coals for technical issues but this didn't. Granted, I was playing this without installing it to my hard drive, and this clearly isn't apples to apples, but. Very noticeable texture popping? Check. Annoying load screens? Check. Frame rate issues? Extra Check. At one point I broke this SOB to the point where the MENU was incredibly slow. My bad for traveling from part one of a side-quest to part two of a side-quest on foot I guess. But, when it comes down to it, it wasn't all bad. Mako parts aside, the main plot quests were all pretty good. (except the 'you don't have enough charisma points so two of your home boys die, jerk' part.) A couple of the side-quests were alright, the ones that were slightly varied and not just "Drive to base, kill everything, collect XP." Simply put, if I paid $60 at launch I'd be furious. But since I got the Platinum hits version for $20 it's more of an annoyance... |

I give that rant a 10/10. I don't see what's so great about Mass Effect. I swear a good chunk of the gamers of this generation are just sheep. Either that or they can bought over with generic BS trying to be passed off as a video game. Oh well everybody has their likes.
I love getting my games for less. More so when they're worth what I paid for them. Blue Dragon new for 60$? HELL NO. Blue Dragon new for 20$ Why not? How bad could it be? In the event that the game isn't what you thought you didn't break the bank and you bought the game for what it's "worth" |
