DarkStalker kindly brought this game to my attention so I figured I'd share and pass the news along. Tears to Tiara or T3 for short is a RTS game in a vein similar to the Growlanser series. Battles happen in real time as you issue orders to your units and attempt to fend off the enemy. If you've played Growlanser you'll have a good idea what the game will be like.

Though the story elements are a lot heavier ala much longer cut scenes with ALOT more voice acting. Almost all the text in the game is VA'd. Thankfully the ability to skip any cut scene in the game is present from the get go.

Anyways the game was originally for PC only but was remade and released on the PS3 in Japan only last year during July. I'm not sure if plans are present to bring it here but now that doesn't matter. A translation team has taken it upon themselves and has done up a patch for the PC version. Courtesy of DarkStalker here are the links.

The game has pretty shallow requirements since it was released years ago way back in 05. Any current generation computer should run it without a hitch. Now uh I feel I should warn the lot of you there's one catch to this game. It's an Eroge or to put it more bluntly there's Hentai hiding in it.

Why it's in there I have no idea. Not only do they not make sense the H-scenes have no relevance or effect on the plot what so ever. The game continues on like nothing happened. They're just needlessly tacked on for the fuck of it.

Thankfully they can be fully skipped if you so choose. Even then they make up a very small portion of the game. I'd say in what feels like the first 5-6 hours I've only seen 1 though the "extra" menu promises a handful more. I recall a FATE/stay night game suffering from a similar problem <_<

Personally I'm just going to ignore them since what I've played so far is fantastic and I refuse to let them mare the experience. In the end I'll leave it up to you guys to decide if you want to play the game or not.

Oh yeah one other thing the intro is LONG. We're talking like 30mins long. Just a fair warning.

I knew I forgot something. >_>

I was gonna post this after I tried it out myself but I...haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for the writeup. Glad you're enjoying it.

I was under the impression the PS3 version removed the hentai, but I've not heard enough about the rest to put it on my wishlist yet. If you guys have any (tasteful!) screenshots or more impressions to share I'd love to hear about them.

It did. It also over hauled the graphics and made some other significant changes to characters designs and the like. The version I'm playing is the PC version. The translation isn't perfect but it's better than nothing.

Oi dark fix your avatar already. The link is broken : P

So meaningless. The Japanese must make games like these for lulz or something. Not only are the H-scenes tacked on but they're flat out random and don't make a lick of sense. The plot 99% of the time pretends they never happened save for one that recently got referenced.

Makes me wonder what kinds of modifications were made to the script for the PS3 version. Not like they would have had to change much anyways right? <_<

Anyways I've hit roughly the 10 hour mark now. The game is rather interesting indeed. The game is roughly 75% cutscene/story 25% battle. Though thankfully you have full control over when the next story sequence occurs so you can just roam around and level if you so choose. It's not like the story scenes are all horribly boring either. I've only seen a few that felt kinda pointless but the amount of screen time all the characters get is ridiculous. The 2d art and the voice overs is a nice touch too.

Thus far the game hasn't been too hard. Long as you use your head you shouldn't be getting killed.

For future reference Archers are BUSTED. Backed up by support magic they'll kill enemies faster than your melee guys can. It's kinda scary O_o
