Finally, this franchise is being brought back to life in the proper manner. SEGA might be run by children but at least they have some semblance of sanity left when they hired Rebellion to develop the third game in the series (for those not in the know, they made AvP1. Monolith [of FEAR fame] developed AvP2).

The first games' Marine campaign was honestly one of the most terrifying gaming experiences known to man. It was similar to L4D in the sense that the Aliens were constantly respawning from different directions and would eventually swarm and overwhelm the player unless you moved along. Also, there were limited quick saves and multiple objectives in each level, not to mention most of the time pitch black so you had to rely on your less than average flash-light and a couple of flares.

Rebellion might not be the same team that made the original back in '99, but lets hope they still have it in them. People are afraid it might be dumbed down for the console crowd (I have no doubt it will be; the original game was HARD, and the Aliens were fast as fuck), but as long as the survival horror aspects are kept and the Alien gameplay isn't restricted to one path, we're good to go.

AvP3 coming to a console or PC near you in 2010.

Didn't we have some new Alien game coming like a year or two back? I remember someone posting about it with pictures.

Aliens: Colonial Marines, developed by Gearbox. It's postponed indefinitely and most people believe it's no longer being worked on.

And here I thought 2 was interesting. They're making a 3rd one now? Oh man I gotta see this. I hope the old team still has it in them. This game has the potential to really be good or really meh.

I've been 'gasming about this for like, weeks. I loved AVP 2 to death, and prayed endlessly for a sequel. I read that they developed a new system of leaping from ledges and tree limbs for the Predator to make them more mobile and stealthy.

And Colonial Marines isn't canceled, they're just working on AVP and making that first.

That would make sense if they were being made by the same developer.

Aliens vs Predator 3: Rebellion
Aliens: Colonial Marines: Gearbox

I think you meant they want to finish Borderlands first.
