I'm guessing some of you knew about this already, but having an accessible Magic on console is like mana from heaven for people like me who keep dabbling in the series but never get to play properly - check it out, I think you'll be impressed. |

Any news if it's just pre-made decks, or if the players are going to be able to tap into the huge database of Magic cards and use whatever they please? I've never played Magic, but I know a tremendous amount of people that are into it and regularly play. I just could never get into the money pit of keeping up with new decks, cards, and rules constantly. This might be a nice, little alternative to that. |

There are set decks currently 8 of them. Each deck has 17 unlockable cards which can be added or removed from them but the core of each CAN NOT be modified. There isn't a whole lot in the game for the vets but for people new to magic Duels is an excellent introduction. It makes the process of teaching someone else to play really, really, easy. There's even a multiplayer mode called "mentoring" which allows another player to teach someone else how to play over Xbox live. For now it doesn't have much but the future might not be so bleak depending on what Wizards releases as download content. And they WILL make some. It's an option in the title menu for crying out loud. Being a magic vet myself I really only find the game a pleasant distraction. The AI is pretty good but it still makes a lot of poor choices. Then again trying to make an AI that can play a game like magic well is challenging I'm sure. |
