So it's out. I have acquired it ASAP of course, but I'm not a big MH buff.

Thought this topic would serve as a good heads up to the big fans of the games though. :)

When you say "acquired" do you mean purchased or the other method?

If it's the other method could you NOT give me the location where you found it so I can NOT get it? : P

I plan on buying the game eventually I just don't have the money right now. Hmmm I wonder if Amazon or something might have it cheaper than Gamestop. I'll have to look into that.

I preordered it but cancelled a few days ago. I do want it, but at the minute I don't want it so bad that I'm going to pay for a game I already own.

I think I'd be able to get into Monster Hunter more if I had a single friend that had a PSP. Which I don't. Everyone seems to love the multiplayer, but since the game is ad-hoc, I don't know how much use I'd get out of it. :\

It's widely distributed on torrent sites.

Actually I think that's the Euro version. The US one isn't technically out yet. Though I don't doubt it'll be online by tomorrow at some point. I'd get the Euro version but you can't transfer US save data into it. I'd have to start from scratch and that's something I would rather not do.

It doesn't feel like just an updated MH2 to be honest (Justin and I played the JP version). There are a ton of tweaks to the stuff that already exist, and the number of new quests essentially doubled our playtime for the game. That's more than I can say for any other expansion I've played aside from Morrowind.

Also, the game's 30 bucks instead of 40, so at least Capcom's acknowledging that a person shouldn't pay full-game price for an expanded game.

Two things:

1) Angry Real Life Akantor (anyone who's fought him will see the resemblance immediately):

2) Even KAJETOKUN plays Monster Hunter 2G/Unite.... and he's scarily good o_o (for those not in the know, he's the guy who made Over 9000, Gutsman's Ass, and the Day in the Life of Dracula among other things):

Sorry I didn't make myself clear - I've owned MHP2ndG since it came out, that's why I'm not keen on buying the English version just yet.

So I decided not to pirate this game when I found it was 30$. Now that's a price I can't argue with. It's so nice to be able to play the game in full English now. Not that the partial English patch for 2G was bad or something. And I'm a tad annoyed that have to get my precious Juggernaut hammer for a 3RD TIME. Oh well grindy, grindy, grindy!

The only thing I want back from 2G is the REAL names of the new monsters. The translated ones are so freaking stupid.

Hypnoc - Hypnocatrice (Why wasn't just Hypnoc good enough? He doesn't look like a cockatrice at all)
Naruga Kuraga - Nargacuga (this one isn't too bad. Though Naruga is more panther than cougar)
Volganos - Lavaseioth (This one practically offends me. Why the hell did they change it!? Volganos sounded cool!)

Maybe if enough people complain somebody in the community will make a patch to restore the REAL names. Though I doubt that'll happen. It would make me laugh if it did.

Wow Kajet plays monster hunter and he freaking rocks at it. I'm facing the wrong way but....GOTCHA BITCH!! Yet another classic. That one really cracked me up.

My Amazon order shipped Monday. So I hope to have it by the end of the week.

I played some of MHF2 alone, and really didn't mind. Even so, I'm considering moving my router downstairs so I can ad hoc.

You mean XLink Kai? Ad-hoc doesn't need a router...

Nope ad hoc. As far as I know ad hoc requires a wired connection. My PS3 is downstairs and the wireless router upstairs.

Man I would have thought getting up to the Juggernaut hammer again would be a pain in the ass but, for some reason mining point 5 has been a little TOO good to me. I've already mined out not 1 not 2 but FOUR melange Ores. So much for needing expand pickaxes now if only I could get the butterflies to show up. Given that mining point 5 loves me it's only natural for bug catching point 5 to hate my guts and make getting those 5 phantom butterflies a headache. Oh well can't win em all I suppose.

Oi Deiser good news. I think I've converted John into a hunter. He hasn't picked a weapon to main yet nor has he done much cause I took him out on a few crash course missions but, he seems pretty eager to get into the game. Here's hoping. Having a 3 player hunt would kick so much ASS

I don't care what weapon he chooses. As long as I get to kick him as much as I kick you while we wait for Rathalos to stop fireball spamming, I'm happy.

He doesn't like that kind of humor in games. If you thought I was serious John needs to take a HUGE chill pill. For example I had him out on a test mission against the Giadrome. We were in that secret area on the top of the mountain and I asked him to go to the edge and see where giadrome was. While his was looking I knocked him off with my hammer for giggles. He was none too pleased about it. Muttered something about "if I could kill you in game right now I would..."

He really needs to lighten up a bit. He doesn't know how to fool around and have a good time every once in a while. Would it kill him to laugh at himself playing a game for once? I've gotten him to plenty of times but dumping it on him spontaneously doesn't work.

Either way I doubt he'll get mad at you cause he started right in on me with the "poking" using the sword and shield. He's an odd one that way. He doesn't mind his own humor but try to turn it around on him at random and he gets annoyed.

It's kinda weird though. It feels like so long ago that I was a rookie hunter and you were my Mentor. I remember that first mission I went out on I didn't wear any armor XD. Now I'm the teacher and someone else is the rookie hunter. It just feels strange. I almost feel kinda proud of my accomplishments. Killing giadrome in 3 hits never felt so good hehehe.

Anyways I got him broken in enough so that he could go out on his own. You gotta hand it to Capcom they really did a great job on the balance in the game. Sure I can share my lower ranked materials and healing items with him but everything else is off limits. Even when I took him to hr2 volcano he was still mining items relevant to his own progress. IE iron ore, earth crystal, stone, and the occasional Machalite.

I've not told him about any of the later wyverns and the like and just plainly said "you'll get there one day. And I'm going to be there to see the look on your face when you do : P"

Ok I'll stop rambling now heheh. ^_^; I'm just so happy that we might have someone else to play with that's all.

Deiser I think I'm beginning to understand how you felt when you first showed me monster hunter. Looking at John on some levels makes me feel like you looking back at me. Suffice to say I think I put a little too much faith into him. He still has A LOT to learn. The hardest part? He's gonna have to learn a lot of it himself cause he sure as hell isn't listening to me. XD

A game called Hunter Blade. Good god, they even ripped off the movesets from the MH monsters; the crab and the monkey have the EXACT SAME MOVESETS, DOWN TO THEIR IDLE/WARNING ANIMATIONS as their MH brethren

Then again, it's made in China. Go figure. XD

I smell a lawsuit. They ripped off more than just blangonga and Hermitar watch that video more closely. They stole the weapon types AND their EXACT animations. Like I said I smell a lawsuit.

Not really. As I said, it's a game made in China, the home of knockoffs. Considering what an ass the Chinese Government is about this type of thing, do you honestly think Capcom has a chance to actually get a lawsuit filed, let alone win it?
