So I went looking for "The Last of Us"...

…and picked up The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct instead. :P When I couldn't find The Last of Us, I took it as a sign that I should wait until my first paycheck before getting it. Walking Dead was only $20, so despite how bad it's supposed to be, I figured $20 was reasonable. I heard Norman Reedus lent his voice to the game, so I bit.

EDIT: Nah, I'm returning it. Dunno what possessed me to buy it.

I can think of plenty of better things to spend $20 on. I would save that money until TLoU is available. If you're going to spend $20 on a Walking Dead game, get the complete first season of Telltale's series.

I did! And it was great. ^_^ I look forward to the disc version of Season 2. I'll have to dodge spoilers in the meantime. I might still want to play The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct someday, but I'll buy used for cheap or rent. Maybe a bruised-and-battered copy of the game for $5 or $10? ;)

As for The Last of Us, my friend informed me of a rumor that Best Buy might be having a sale on the game for $30 next week. I'll report back if I hear that it's confirmed. I'm not holding my breath, though, because as of this moment Best Buy's website still lists the game at $60 (seriously, do retailers not check Amazon? They have it for $43 right now…).

I'm also looking forward to the Complete Second Season of The Walking Dead, so I'm in the same boat of dodging spoilers. I was late to the party, and got Season One with 400 Days on a vita cart. What's funny is that, at the time, it was the only way to get all five episodes, plus the dlc in a physical collection. A GotY edition for consoles was announced later, which included 400 Days(all previous Season One sets only had the five episodes). I was laughing, because I already played and enjoyed the exact same thing on my vita.

Needless to say, I'm holding out for the vita version of Season Two, because I'm curious if my choices in Season One will make any difference. I heard choices are supposed to make more difference this time around, but I'll have to find out for myself. I have no idea if there will be similar dlc afterwards, but I'm assuming the vita will get the collection at the same time as everything else this time, so it will most likely be just the five episodes either way. I don't mind downloading the dlc if there is any. I have enough vita memory. I just like to conserve it wherever possible. If push comes to shove, I can always trade in my regular edition for a GotY edition. Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself. That collection is a good ways away now. I can wait though.

Honestly, Telltale's Walking Dead may have been one of the best games I ever played. Granted, it was nowhere near as good the second time around, but I will never forget the emotions I experience the first time. I have no idea how much my decisions in Season 1 will affect Season 2 (especially in the last dialogue exchange that I won't spoil). What I'm really curious to find out is WHAT THE HECK the DLC will have to do with anything.

Anywho, it was confirmed that The Last of Us will be on sale for $30 at Best Buy next week: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/326904-best-buy-and-target-weekly-ads-29-215/ I'll have to jump on that.

The dlc is what I'm especially curious about, because it did seem like that could make quite a difference. Granted, one area TWD Season One fell short in is the sense that our choices mean anything. Sure, the series puts up the pretence of a few choices meaning something, sometimes for quite a while. A choice in Episode One comes to mind, but that came to an end in Episode Three. By the end of the season, I didn't feel like my choices meant anything. The dlc in particular though seems to make a more substantial difference. Granted, so did the choice I made in Episode one, so...ummm...yeah. ^o) I did hear somewhere that Telltale was working on that area though. Yeah, this isn't Mass Effect. Hopefully choices in Season Two are more meaningful, and that the choices in Season One are somehow not completely pointless.

I would highly recommend The Last of Us if you like Telltale's TWD. They're different games from different genres, but there are a lot of similarities too. The most obvious being the zombie apocalypse scenario. Both games do something unique with that super hackneyed premise though. Both have a middle aged male lead with a young girl as the main supporting character. The ages of Ellie and Clementine are different, but the dynamic of their relationship to the main character is similar. The racial difference just further highlights their similarities. Both games end differently, so don't take what I say as a spoiler of any kind, but the similarities are there. TLoU is far more conventional as far as gameplay goes, but I like both games, and I think you'll be glad you checked out TLoU.

I think the choice that holds over the most in Season 1 is the big decision near the end of Episode 2. Depending on what you choose to do, Kenny will hate your guts for the rest of the season. He seems to have forgotten about it for most of Episode 4, but at the very end of that episode when you ask him to come with you, his first reaction is, "You've never done anything for me! Why should I do anything for you?" even though I agreed with him on every other decision besides the one at the end of Episode 2 during that playthrough. :ermm: So there's a lot of weight to the Episode 2 decision especially. There are very good and very bad reasons for choosing either option.

I gotta say, I'm excited to play The Last of Us. It's been killing me that I haven't been able to play it up until now. I don't think I've ever waited so long to pick up a game that I've wanted to play badly. ^_^
