Just got the limited edition gold and black Zelda 3DS XL. Comes with a digital copy of the title game. Anyone planning on picking up this game?

Just thought I'd drop in to add that I've been playing this game since Christmas, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. I'm not so certain that it deserves all the hype it's been getting, but it's a fun nostalgia trip to Link to the Past to be sure. So far I have 4 of the 7 sages freed.
I haven't really seen much hype about the game myself. I enjoyed it quite a bit simply because it's so old school. I have not picked up Skyward Sword yet (because it's on the Wii and still $50) but Twilight Princess was a horrendous game in my opinion. I did like Wind Waker but the DS sequel wasn't as much fun. The end to the story was a surprise to me and made it quite an enjoyable experience. It has its flaws, but overall a solid game.
As far as hype was concerned, there were people who said, "This is the game all Zelda fans should play!" which isn't entirely true as there are some who are solely married to the [traditionally] 3D games in the series and have chosen to ignore the 2D entries (which is sad, I know). And someone also said, "It feels like you're rescuing the Princess for the first time." I still have 2 dungeons to go to say for sure, but as good as this game is, I can't really say that this feels like I'm playing Zelda for the first time.

I don't remember who said these, I think it was IGN. Regardless, I feel like both of these quotes are more accurate to Skyward Sword more than anything else. The game, while not being as drastically different as was promised, was definitely a fresh take on the series. Plus, I had never seen Princess Zelda to be so developed with that level of personality (except for maybe in Wind Waker).

Though I'm curious, Papa, what was it that you didn't like about Twilight Princess? I might be able to tell you whether or not Skyward Sword is for you.

In part I didn't enjoy the "darker" theme to the game. The alternate world was too dark color wise to be honest and I did not like Edna (or whatever that thing's name was). Morphing into a wolf wasn't all that enjoyable to me and the dungeons all felt re-hashed. TP just didn't feel like a Zelda game to me. It did not feel "new" if that makes any sense. I might enjoy Skyward Sword but I don't really care for the Wii as a system. When I pick up the Wii U I might pick up Skyward Sword if it can be played with something other than that nunchuck stick.

All right, then in that case I can see you enjoying Skyward Sword. A lot of people said the controls take some getting used to, but if you played the Wii version of Twilight Princess it's not hard to get a hold of at all. It's a very bright game compared to Twilight Princess, though I personally dislike the game's partner (Fi) more than any previous partner in the series. She does nothing but tell you what you already know. I feel like Nintendo is purposefully trying to make Navi look like the best partner in the series just because everyone thought she was annoying in Ocarina of Time when it released (compare her to Midna, Ezlo and Tatl in addition to Fi).

I finished A Link Between Worlds the other day. Again, great game, but not as revolutionary as some people have claimed. I do like, however, the idea of having more than 1 "big chest" in each dungeon, just so that I don't have to walk into a room, see a big chest, and immediately assume that it's the boss key. It could be the boss key, but it could be an equally significant item as well.

I've known about this for a while, but did it ever occur to anyone else that the fact that they named the Lorule princess Hilda was in reference to Sabrina the Teenage Witch? In the show, Sabrina's aunts were named Hilda and Zelda.
