Hi fellows, I used to play like a loooong time ago an RPG by post but from Final Fantasy and that how I got to know this type of gaming and I liked it a lot but for one thing or another the forums ended and now I got to this but I'm a bit lost in the Mechanics of the game like what is the "How to Play" by post in this forums. What is the function of the ST, what does she does ^_^ (see my nerdy reference of the WW books) how does the system works, what are the mechanics, the responsibilities of the ST, what she mus do as a ST and the players how far they can go. Stuff like that. I dunno if you guys can help me a little bit on this matter.

Thank you.

I'm sending you a pm with the v20 book link. That should help.

I like the female form by default thing.
I should do all my essays this way.

Thanks, and well I played VtM for a long time and I'm quite familiar with the gameplay of White-wolf and roleplaying in general, I meant the mechanics for playing Post Based RPG like this, I meant like what are the functions of a ST in this way of playing, each post what represents, or like how far can a player go with the writing, that kind of stuff, more in a technical way in the Play by Post RPG.

Oh, certainly. Well it's really up to the players : there are two systems, and you can take stuff from each of them as you like.
— Now the rule of cool is less "rpg" and more "creative writing with multiple people involved" : you play along, do your character as you go, but there are little to no dice rolls involved : it's how the players want to play it. You decide if there's something happening, and what will come out of it. Players just... do their thing, write a story. The storyteller shapes it, the players fill it as they wish. They can decide if an action will be a failure or a success. There can also be no storyteller, too. If some players want, say, to have their characters meet and build the conversation together as they go, it's fine too.
— And then you can do the whole dice rolls thingies if you want, just like in a regular rpg, only with more creative writing stuffed between the dice rolls

And of course, you can mix things, like keep the dice rolls in there to keep a bit of randomness but shed combat, and so on.

My bad, I misunderstood your question.

Rachel pretty much covered it, but I'll just add that there aren't really any rules for playing. My guideline has always been "do whatever you want and have fun."

Just talk to whoever you want to play with and work it out with them. If you'd like some in depth examples, I can post a link to a thread and talk about our discussions that took place in the background so you can see how we worked it out.
