APPLICATIONS - ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

::Original Character Application Rules::

Quote:

1) PREREQUISITES

  • All members submitting original character applications should not use canon content or material from other publications. This board takes place within the DC Universe and will stay that way. By no means should you be bringing in the actual Captain Falcon, Kratos, Naruto, Princess Peach, or Solid Snake. Face claiming is fine enough.

  • All members submitting original character applications must adhere to the list for any concepts that are either banned or are otherwise limited for original characters. This is to prevent players who are either lazy, uninspired, or just want to fill the board with super-powered doppelgangers of their ripped-off progenitors.

  • All members submitting original character applications must provide a good and readable roleplay sample of more than six hundred words. Previous experiences and tenures on other roleplaying boards is always a plus. This helps us evaluate your capability as a creative writer and a person roleplaying a fictional character.

2) SUBMISSIONS

  • Once your application has been reviewed, you have one week to respond to any changes needed for your application. This also includes affirming your decision to play the selected canon if the application is approved. If no response is given without any notification, we will inquire if you are still interested in playing the character.

  • If no response is given without any notification within two weeks, your character application will be denied. We believe two weeks is more than sufficient to put in the necessary corrections to your application or sending us a short reply confirming your agreement to play that original character.

3) ALIGNMENT

  • All original characters must tread on either the heroic or villainous path when starting. Starting out as a hero or a villain will make it easier for you, the player, to develop your character. The whole scenario of your character vs the world seems a little far fetched as they are relatively "fresh" to the DC Universe.

  • You must re-submit your character application if your character's morality is to become unaligned. Informing the staff first is, of course, a necessity. Your character must also participate in more than three board wide plots and more than five faction plots before any changes to their alignment or morality are permitted.

4) CREATIVITY

  • As the title implies, original characters have to be as original as they possibly could. Something new, something fresh, and something creative. What that means is that you, the player, will have to try your absolute best to produce something that has never been done before, within reason, and would fit appropriately in the DC Universe.

  • While making an original character, think about whether he/she is an off-shoot of another character that you like but is already taken. If so, think about how are you able to make them different. We are not saying that you're prohibited from drawing inspiration. Just don't make your OC so blatantly obvious that resident experts will start hounding you.

  • Minimize the cliches. In moderation with ample reasoning, it is acceptable but far too often there will be cases where people will abuse this privilege. This results in poor storytelling and will affect the quality of the character in general. Try to put some variety into your original character and make him/her stand out from the rest.

5) REMINDER

  • When submitting an application for an original character, present them as a well-balanced individual. Allow your OC to grow as he/she progresses through every chapter of their story. They aren't at the top of the food chain right of the bat but they do stand out among the crowd and are on the road to glory.
