Posting and you!
Posting can be an incredibly entertaining activity to engage in, which I think I can safely venture anyone reading this will agree with. However to better facilitate avenues of communication, certain guidelines must be adhered to. While rules can be irksome, these are a necessity to ensure the smooth running of the community and the minimalization of grievances experienced by it's members. With this in mind, I now humbly introduce you to the rules of G24/7 where I promise to not reference a certain overused movie quotation.

Our Spoken Median
As this is a site orientated towards more in depth discussions, it is expected that you take the time to express your viewpoints in plain speak. By this I am specifically juxtaposing it against chat speak. Chat speak is generally not conductive to extended dialogues. Using jargon or technical speak is not banned.

Developing Your Viewpoints.
It is appreciated if you take the time to develop your posts. One liners which do not add anything to the discussion are not appreciated. It is better if you try to explain your perspective as fully as possible. While we are not expecting you to produce a monograph or a treatise, some effort is expected. Generally developing your case is acceptable.

Supporting your claims.
It is generally advisable to back up your assertions with corresponding sources. This can both benefit your own case you are presenting and add to the quality of the discussion. This however will not be enforced. Although if someone requests a source, it is considered good practice to comply.

Quotations.
When you are sourcing material external to yourself, it is expected that you remember to make an effort to attribute it to the appropriate authority.

Remember your target.
While extended discussions can get quite heated at times, especially when the subject matter is something you are passionate about, it is important to remember your point of focus. We expect you to target the person's ideas, not the person!

G24/7 is a Tolerant Community
We cannot stress enough to everyone the importance of ensuring it is clear in your posts that you are simply disagreeing with the opinion of someone else, and not objecting to defining characteristic of theirs.
Any sign of true bigotry, be it on the grounds of ethnicity/race, religion, sexuality, political leaning, gender, or otherwise will be taken very seriously by our staff team.

Speak to the Thread.
A legitimate, and genuine, effort to address the topic being discussed, or views expressed within said topic is expected. Posts which either have nothing to do with the thread, or are there for purely provocative purposes will not be tolerated either.

Clone Threads.
When it comes to creating a new thread, we would appreciate it if you took the time to ensure that the subject matter is original. If there is another thread already speaking to the topic, you should post in it instead. In recognition of the complexities and diversity within topics, there is room here for you to employ personal judgment. If you are unsure, feel free to contact a member of our staff.

Private Messages
Just because the messages are behind closed doors, does not mean the rules cease to exist. It is expected that the same conduct that is expected on the normal forum is upheld, and also that one will not use the PM system to plug a wesbite/product/organisation. Nor to send vulgar comment.
If you feel you have received an inappropriate private message, the next step is to forward it to a staff member.

Signatures
We don't have too many expectations on your signatures. Advertising is allowed, so long as the content in the site that you are advertising in your sig does not contain anything that goes against the Zetaboards TOU: http://www.zetaboards.com/tou We would also like to request that the sizes of your signature are kept sensible, and do not break the forums borders.

Bannings
Our staff team reserves the right to ban any users who have repeatedly broken any of the forums rules (once, or numerous times depending on the severity of the offense.) without posting a detailed explanation.

It is your responsibility to keep upto date with the forums rules, as they may change without warning
