Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Parliament Commission built to research possibilities for Latao to join the European Conventions of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms

Today, a commission has been announced consisting of members of the National Council and state-law experts to research if it is possible for Latao to join the COE Convention of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

It is the job of said commission to find out weather the basic version of the convention (without any additional protocols for that time) could be applied to Latao’s state-law without changing more than five articles or paragraphs in our federal constitution.

The commission only performs judicial research work, as the last work must be spoken at a public poll.

The most difficult questions might be to find out if the convention requires to change more than five articles and/or paragraphs of the constitution (which is prohibited by the “stability-article” (article 19) of the federal constitution) – it is also possible that the federal constitution does not need to be changed, since many of these fundamental rights are already granted by our constitution today.

Another question is the future and use of the death penalty, which is currently allowed by the constitution but wasn’t utilized for years. The convention itself does not prohibit that kind of penalty, unless Latao would sign the 6th additional protocol of the convention which is not subject of the current proposal.

Supporters of the proposal say, that this join would increase Latao’s image in the world as a friendly and stable nation which clearly recognizes the human rights as define din the UN Charter and the fundamental freedoms, which will be only positive for the country.

Critics state, that these contracts mean nothing else than sensitive influence on state- and even constitutional law – national sovereignty is finally given away to foreign authorities were they can’t be controlled and that this project is simply unnecessary and a waste of money, since these fundamental rights are already subject of the federal constitution today.
