| Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums! Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register. Join our Community Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system. I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way. Getting Started If you're already a member please log in to your account to access all of our features. |

I want the UN to play a greater role in world affairs. The UN bureaucracy needs to be more transparent, more accountable, and more efficient. I believe all membernations should contribute equal ammounts of financial aid to the UN in proportion to GNP. I would like to see more condemnations of countries such as Libya, Sudan and Algeria. Anyone else have a view on the subject? |

pray tell, what will any of this have to do with how the UN functions? also, if you can highlight a bureacracy on earth that is accountable & transparent (surely a paradox?) feel free to do so. |

The UN is of great use, except when it comes to the USA. The idea of the UN is basically an international Leviathan. This only works if it has more power than its individual members. However, as the US is more powerful, it can override UN authority. Thus the UN is defunct when it comes to the US, but it does have use elsewhere. I'd liek to see the UN become more poweful, but I cannot see how this is possible. Unless all other nations donated a massive amount of troops and finance to it, but that just ain't gonna happen. |

The UN is totally useless..they are just an unnecessary drain on funds without many real and effective powers. If a larger country decided to have war like the US and the UN told them to stop there is nothing they could do. The UN has lost its original use, its actualy become more of tool by the US. The US uses the UN for its own means, and when the UN has the balls to disagree which they usualy dont, and tells the US to stop what they are doing the US goes on and does it anyway. The UN is a joke and some of its aid programes are jokes too. I have evidence of a Iraqi refugee that lives in a neighbouring country [I spoke to him through email], of the UN commiting actual infractions of human rights they established and lieing about aid. UNHCR ..or one of those is supposed to give a $100 check to Iraqi refugees, this man and the rest of those he knows in one year got a total of $.98. Now there may be skeptics saying well he just emailed you [and he has ebooks online for free about the state of the refugees and a journal], but this is not the only case I too was a refugee of the civil war in former Yugoslavia, as well I saw a documentary on Afghanistan in school where the response about UN aid was the same...miniscule to non-existant. UN fails in stopping wars. Even when they impose embargos.[their only real power] UN fails in delivering aid. [the aid money is actualy from donations of ppl in the west most of that money was diverted to pay the people that work in UNHCR] UN Suceeds in being a tool of the US when the US deems it so. UN Suceeds in being a vast beaurachracy that unecessarily creats costs [no matter how small] on poorer countries. UN's only true good deed is that it provides a place for the world to meet, for misunderstandings to be discussed and solved, which might prevent unnecessary wars. |
