Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

When I was in primary school I used to have this mad teacher who sent me a Million lines once. This guy used to set lines all the time so durring winter we used to go out of our way to get lines so we could stay inside and in the warm durring break times. As the teacher didn't supervise us whilst we were "Writting Lines" we jsut used to sit about laughing at the fact we have effectively been given a free! + durring break times laugh at those out in the cold. But when the Teacher heard me + some friends talking about this he set us all a Million lines. Which meant that we were given a free day and the teacher had forgotten by the next day and when he remembered he was to embarased to mention it! Ah... Back in the day.

*seriously random-rant-mood continues!!*

When I was in school I was very smart and made sure everyone knew it. I had quite a mouth on me. My official record was I had a 4.0 in class work but only a 1.0 in attitude.
It seems the teachers didn't like being told how stupid they were.

Read 'Empire'.

His basic argument is that India's success after colonialisation is rooted in the infrastructure they inherited from the Brits.

This of course justifes slavery by the East India Company etc etc

Oh, and he is a personal friend of Samuel Huntington.

I can't think why i dislike him...

:rolleyes2:

I must look up the name.

He maintains that The British Empire was a benign empire and while compared to the French or Belgium it may of look favourable I can only say that if you view it from the position of an Irish Republican (As I am but not in the current Provisional IRA terms) the analogy would not hold up.

Accepting the Ireland was not strictly a Colony the maintenance of British rule Pre-1800 and the Act of Union after that date was often carried out with vicious and murderous oppression.

He also has little time for the EU (again I believe an Institution U-ropa and I have high hopes for) and his opinion that it poses no threat to the USA.
The point of the UN was closer ties within Europe (with the aim to prevent another War in Europe, sadly not realised) not to create another power block in the world.

It is a project coming near the end of its beginning and its potential, again IMO, has yet to be shown.

I do agree with his opinion that the USA is in denial of its Empire Status (denial by it populace not its Leaders IMO) however I disagree with his view that an American Empire is a good thing for the world.

I still have to finish the book so I'll read on.....

I've read most of 'Empire' and I tend to agree with U-ropa. Another of his arguments, I believe (its a while since I read it so I can't remember exactly), is that the British Empire 'redeemed' itself through its sacrifice in order to prevent the establishment and continuation of two much worse empires - Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.

However in my opinion this rather conviniently overlooks the role that the British Empire had in the creation of these two rival empires in the first place. The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere was obviously an attemp to copy western Imperialism, whilst one could argue that British (and French) actions at the Treaty of Versailles allowed the Nazis to come to power - as well as the policy of appeasement.

PS I'm goin on holiday tomorrow for a week, and won't be able to access a PC while I'm there.

:o :o I am totally out of my league here. So don't expect much from me. I am 20 years out of college so I'm a bit behind.

You have to look at the American school system to define empire. Since day one we are taught that an imperialist nation is one that takes over another nation/country to use as its own. When that is drived into your head you tend to believe america is not an empire because we have not taken over any country and used it for colonization, kinda.

I have not yet finished it.

And the UN is obsolete in the way it is now. The New Republic printed an article about Blair and his idea to change the UN to make it more viable to today's world. It was a speech he made somewhere....

I should finish the book by Sunday nite. remember the time difference....and be patient with me. I'm old and outdated not totally stupid..

We both wish the project will "eventually" unite Europe and remove "national political" borders and create a region of one Government with the one Political Structure.

However your right we may disagree as I believe Political Diversity across the spectrum is good for a Country/Union.
