Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Ignore him, it's another leftist lie to get you to be as braindead as them. Their idea of street urchins dying of lead poisoning is completely untrue. How many people do they know who have died of lead poisoning? In fact, how many people do they know who live in poor inner-city areas? None probably, they're getting their information from dodgy media sources like the Red Communist Weekly or something.

It cheaper to get soda then to get water from a bottle. After all the suft that comes from the tap is usually not as drinkable or clean as water from the store.

It is cheaper it to get junk food.Health food is costly.

Well this may be the issue in other places but in Canada...the last and largest source of fresh water in the world the people are being duped. We have some of the best tap water, and there a helpful minerals, the water cleansing system is very tight for most of the large cities. Yet people still choose to buy water that has no helpful minerals, that doesn't taste better or worse, and doesn't have fluoride*.

Let me put this in perspective of how people are being ripped off because of their own ignorance mostly.

People pay water bills for clean and good water that is better for them than bottled water which isn't as regulated.

So they are paying twice for the same product only the 2nd one is worse.

Furthermore they are paying twice because everything short of Evian or really expensive water is just tap water.

Redundancy:
You pay water bill for tap water.
Tap water goes to factory.
Bottles are made and filled up with the water after all the good stuff is taken out of it.
You buy bottled water.

*the rise of the water bottle has brought in a huge increase in tooth decay because water in water bottles doesn't have fluoride and tap water does.

I can't speak for the U.S. because I don't live there [although the water wasn't bad when I went to Cleveland but California water was a bit questionable.] But Canadians are being ripped off because of their own ignorance.

But there are plenty of places in the world where bottled water is a better choice. Just in Serbia in the town where my family is as well as most of the towns in the praries the water is yellow from the old piping and soft and oily. I never drink it when I'm there.

It's oily because most of that part of Serbia has oil in it, thousands of small pockets spread out [instead of one big one]. Some places you can even smell the petroleum in the water because water comes from wells.

My mother told me [cuz she was born in that area I wasn't] of one instance where a pipe exploded into flames [for reasons i forget] because of the huge amount of oil in the water. Probably gas build up.

Actually even those Canada does has a large amount of fresh water. The fresh water is dirty because of all the littering and polttucling(sp) .In aborigals resvers water is the most grossest thing ever.Which results in life threatening illness. And where I live in Newfoundland the water facuilys are old, declaying, under staff by staff who are not trained to do the job their doing. Also places like Vancouer the water is does not meet Health Canada relgualtions.

Also the bottle water comanys say the water is 99.9% or whatever clean. So of corsue their no minerals in it.People know this when they buy it anyway. So how are they getting rip off? Also now a day the "rage" is bottle water.Which tastes better. It also cheaper then soda.In fact bottle regular water is cheaper then soda.Sure people aren't getting the fluoride. But they have more money to buy heatly foods :P

Ya.....

And I don't believe your claim that all poor inner-city people avoid tap water like the plague.  And I'd like to know where you got the fact that inner-city water to poor people is uranium filled...

I'll agree with lead, but where exactly did you get uranium?

And you're right, lead-poisoning is a problem.

And yes, I'm sorry for the Eskimos and something should be done, like building them a dependable water system.

But, back to the point, which is fat people are fat because of their own choices (with exceptions made for people with qualifiable medical disorders/problems).  Not because corporate america made them eat only food that made them fat.

And, since I strongly believe in individual responsibility, the idea of the government telling me that I can't eat certain foods is ridiculous.

Did I say uranium? I meant asbestos, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury that seeps into the water supply from old plumbing, paint, insulation, and chemical spills from factories.

People in inner cities do drink the tap, but they know that soda's healthier and way less burdensome on the wallet since most live paycheck by paycheck. And Kool Aid comes in little plastic bottles also.

And please,

The only thing that will change about your food once trans-fat is gone is that the food will be healthier for your heart and *may* have a different texture. Your actual choices of food simply won't be affected.

My mother lived in a poor inner-city area and she told me all about it.

The inner-city child I was mentioning was a 9 year old girl from Queens who came to my area as part of the Fresh Air Fund. She would only drink soda and threw tantrums when someone offered her juice or water. Another inner-city kid was a 14 year old girl I met in summer camp, also from Queens, who would also drink soda for breakfast.

Young girls shouldn't drink soda to begin with. It is incredibly bad for their health. It leads to very weak bones and (IIRC) can lead to problems with reproduction and hormone imballences.

Good for her, there's nothing wrong with my water and I, apparently, live in relative poverty, although I would debate "relative poverty"'s existance. You are, also, aware that your mother probably grew up several decades ago, the world has moved on significantly since then.

Can I also say that if they can afford to buy enough "soda" (I hate using that word, it makes me feel so informal) to live off, then I would debate whether they were all that poor.

Edit: And also, price will be affected by the ban on trans-fats. The food will become more expensive, thus leaving thousands of your non-existant, beloved under-class without any decent food whasoever. So think about these things before you jump on the "health" bandwagon. I know you may enjoy jumping on things, people of the same gender primarily, but please restrain yourself for our sakes.

Yes, you did say uranium, and I assume you're admitting you were wrong. Please provide the study in which all these chemicals were found in a majority of cities' drinking water.

And don't tell me you're basing this entire arguement that inner-city people drink soda because its cheaper (which its not, compared to tap water) and that all these problems as widespread as you would have us believe on the information from one nine year old child, who, for all you know, liked the taste of pop better than the taste of water and juice like many nine year olds, and one child you met at a summer camp one summer.

Did either of them specifically tell you "I don't drink water (tap water) because its poisoned"?

It doesn't matter if my food changes. The government doesn't have the right to dictate my dietary choices.

And the Eskimos in Alaska once had the best teeth in the New World, to the point where Eskimo skulls were being analyzed by dentists.

Nowadays, soda companies bring many many gallons of soda to the Eskimo areas, which are poor without running water, and they just drink soda.

Become learned noob.

answers.com

Eskimo has come under strong attack in recent years for its supposed offensiveness, and many Americans today either avoid this term or feel uneasy using it. It is widely known that Inuit, a term of ethnic pride, offers an acceptable alternative, but it is less well understood that Inuit cannot substitute for Eskimo in all cases, being restricted in usage to the Inuit-speaking peoples of Arctic Canada and parts of Greenland. In Alaska and Arctic Siberia, where Inuit is not spoken, the comparable terms are Inupiaq and Yupik, neither of which has gained as wide a currency in English as Inuit. While use of these terms is often preferable when speaking of the appropriate linguistic group, none of them can be used of the Eskimoan peoples as a whole; the only inclusive term remains Eskimo. • The claim that Eskimo is offensive is based primarily on a popular but disputed etymology tracing its origin to an Abenaki word meaning “eaters of raw meat.” Though modern linguists speculate that the term actually derives from a Montagnais word referring to the manner of lacing a snowshoe, the matter remains undecided, and meanwhile many English speakers have learned to perceive Eskimo as a derogatory term invented by unfriendly outsiders in scornful reference to their neighbors' unsophisticated eating habits.
