Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Explain to me why christian symbols have to be in Federally funded places? This country might have been built by christians but it was made for everyone. The exact reason for Sep. of Church and State. They just didn't put it in there for fun.

It's a bloody christmas tree. And if you want separation of church and state then change all the money to remove in God we trust, let all bars stay open on christmas eve after 5-6 pm, and tell Congress to stop having a prayer before sessions and tell the courts to stop swearing on the bible!!!

But then you open the door to all the other religious xmas type holidays like Kwanza.
I understand why the airport got rid of the trees but I don't understand why the man was so adamant about getting a menorah up. The tree is pretty non religious as far as christian christmas is concerned. I could understand if there was a nativity scene there then yes all other religions needed to be represented but it was only a tree with lights and balls...geez!!!

I saw the guy who wanted the Menorah and thats all he wanted. He thinks the tree shouldn't of been taken down, he just wanted the Menorah added.

I would be more concerned about this sort of thing if most Americans celebrated Christmas as a religious holiday, rather than a commercial one.

But he threatened to sue if it was not added. America is a predominately Christian country so why should they take down Xmas trees and the like, just in order to please certain other people. They choose to live in America and so therefore should be willing to 'put up' with its national holidays and the like. I wouldnt shout my mouth off is say i moved to India, i would not 'sue' in order to make sure my traditions are celebrated, i dont have that right.

And like others have said, if the airport had done this, the floodgates would have opened for everyone else.

NC... Yes it is the majority religion but this country is for the majority and the minority. The minority has a voice as well.

Also not everyone here chooses to live here. Not every Jew or Muslim immigrates here they are born here. The thing is you can't celebrate every faith nationally so all shouldn't celebrated in federally funded places. Come on we hear this as children why shouldn't we do it to ourselves when it comes to religion?

Everyone is happy when no one else is.

Going for a lawsuit was a little extreme, and I really don't give two ounces even though I'm Jewish. The rabbi felt it was his religious duty to put a menorah up in order to bring all the Jews back to orthodoxy, it wasn't just about respecting tradition. Do some research on Lubavitch. They have nutty ultra-nationalist views on Israel and are known for forming a really humongous personality cult aroung their deceased spiritual leader, at one point declaring him the Jewish messiah (before he died in 1994).

Ugh.

--------------------------

A menorah is a type of candleabra (hope I spelled that right) that Jews light on Hannukah.

Ath, you treat Christians like the Romans did. Bet you wouldn't mind celebrating whatever holidays atheists celebrate by throwing some of the faithful to some lions?

In more serious issues:

1. This country is mostly Christian. Those who aren't Christian should just deal with it and not attack it. Its not hurting you. Get over it.

2. People who didn't choose to be born here can choose to walk away. I mean, even if you don't have money, Canada and Mexico don't have the strictest of immigration policies...

3. The citizens of America are too sue-happy. That man who complained didn't only complain: he complained and threatened. That makes him wrong.

4. While I know this isn't going to be a popular arguement, the "christmas" tree is just an evergreen tree with decorations. Nothing, besides its name, is overtly Christian. I mean, look at the history. It was a pagan practice far before Christians started using them.

5. The airport couldn't have put a menorah in without putting up a crucifix and (not meaning to be offensive, I just don't what different cultures would want/use) whatever the symbol for Kwanza is and I'm sure Muslims would feel left out and even though they don't have a holiday at this time (that I'm aware of, I could be perfectly wrong), they'd want something, and the list would never end. The airport put up 'christmas' trees because they wanted to be able to express holiday cheer without being overtly religious in any manner.

6. Just another part of liberal America's attack on Christmas and Christian values. And I'm not some conspiracy nutter. American schools aren't allowed to have "Christmas Break" or even "Winter Holidays"....schools and colleges have to have "Winter Breaks" because in the liberal belief system, saying "Christmas" is a sin...

Just my opinon....

I think I should entitle my upcoming (if ever existent) article in the paper the same as the title of this topic....

Atheists don't have holidays.

Romans killed christians and last time I checked I haven't killed a christian. Maybe got them to stray from their faith but not killing them.

Also if you such a promoter of Free Speech then why don't you promote the free speech of the minority? I'll tell you why, because it doesn't serve your arguement.

I never said they couldn't complain. I think threatening a lawsuit over a couple of Christmas trees, is ridiculous and shows the unattractive tendency of American's to sue. I mean, really, how can a Christmas tree possibley give you cause to sue....

Ath, if you ask anyone here and look at past posts, I've always been a proponent of free speech, for everyone.

Ok I am a Catholic what exactly does the tree have to do with the religious aspect of the holiday anyway. According to the xmas show "Santa Claus is Coming to Town

The trees were lit by the winter warlock because Kris and Jessica were outlaws and couldn't get married in town and it was the only decorations they could get. (My son and I watch it every year) There was no religious connotations at all.
