Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Came accross these Here and I thought I'd share them.

George Gershwin

De t'ings dat yo li'ble To read in de Bible - It ain't necessarily so.
--It Ain't Necessarily So, Porgy and Bess

Francis S. Collins
Director National Human Genome Research Institute, writing in Faith and the Human Genome
The tragedy of young-earth creationism is that it takes a relatively recent and extreme view of Genesis, applies to it an unjustified scientific gloss, and then asks sincere and well-meaning seekers to swallow this whole, despite the massive discordance with decades of scientific evidence from multiple disciplines. Is it any wonder that many sadly turn away from faith concluding that they cannot believe in a God who asks for an abandonment of logic and reason?

Theodosius Dobzhansky (1900-1975) Russian geneticist and evolutionary biologist

Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.

I'll write up the rest later
Publius Ovidius Naso
Epistulae Ex Ponto (Letters from the Black Sea)
Gutta cavat lapidem, non vi sed saepe cadendo. (The drop excavates the stone, not with force but by falling often.)

Isaac Newton (1642-1727) Quoted in D Brewster
Memoirs of Newton
I know not what I appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell, whilest the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.

Aldous Huxley (1894-1963)

Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan (1927-2003)

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion but not his own facts.

Carl Sagan
1934-1996
Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for Earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves but also to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring.

Charles Darwin (1809-1882)

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.

Charles Darwin
The Origin of Species
When I view all beings not as special creations, but as the lineal descendants of some few beings which lived long before the first bed of the Cambrian system was deposited, they seem to me to become ennobled.

Ashley Montague Ph.D.
D.Sc., D.Litt.
Science has proof without any certainty. Creationists have certainty without any proof.

Confucius (551-479 BCE)

Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous.

Mark Bowden
writing in the Philadelphia Inquirer on recent images from the Hubble Space Telescope
...Which brings me to the Hubble Space Telescope's newest images. If it's wonder that you're looking for, and mystery, don't just scan the photographs. Stop and think about them. Try to imagine the scale. The Earth is just a speck of dust on one distant whirling tentacle of the Milky Way galaxy, which contains billions of stars. A 'collision' of galaxies seems unimaginably large - and yet it is something scientists long ago imagined... The imaginings of pseudoscience are feeble by comparison.

Alexander Pope (1688-1744) English poet and writer

Nature and Nature's laws lay hid in night. God said 'Let Newton be!' and all was light.

Jacob Bronowski (1908 - 1974) British historian and mathematician. See The Ascent of Jacob Bronowski

Man masters nature not by force but by understanding.  This is why science has succeeded where magic failed: because it has looked for no spell to cast on nature.

Francis Bacon (1561-1626) Renaissance author
courtier, and father of deductive reasoning
Books must follow sciences, and not sciences books.

Richard Leakey (1944- ) conservationist
activist and famous paleoanthropologist, writing in National Geographic, February 1998
To me it's a question of being able to look backward and give the present a root... To give meaning to where we are today, we need to look at where we have come from.

Dr. J. William Schopf
paleobiologist and director of UCLA's Center for the Study of Evolution and the Origin of Life (Mader 1998; page 5)
Evolution is the GUT (GRAND UNIFYING THEORY) of biology. It is the bedrock principle of our scientific understanding of the natural laws that govern life. Furthermore, it is logically necessary for life's survival in a changing world environment. To deny this scientific principle is analogous to believing that the earth is the center of the universe!

No, I find that hilarious coming from you.

Word of advice. Don't use the same comeback someone has just used on you unless you know for sure you will pull it off successfully. You failed miserably.

Just because nobody bothers...to bother with you doesn't mean you've won the argument. It means that you're not worth arguing because your warped little mind cannot understand certain concepts and in its defense calls everyone else stupid and unimaginative. Believe me I've been where you are now, in my case I had one philosophy course in high school and although it did make me smarter, it also made me feel as you feel about us. Made me think I'm some superior genius. I eventually saw that others had gone through similar stages when studying philosophy and having a higher understand [that you believe you have] takes a lot more time and experience.

In conclusion I think its a much bigger insult to you and anyone, if people don't even wanna bother arguing with you because you're too stupid to argue with, THAN just losing an argument.

Of course no matter what I say in this post you will go back to your superiority trip. If you're lucky, within time you will see that you're not as smart as you think you are, and knowing that and admitting it, is the first step to really becoming intelligent.

In other words...you still have some growing up to do...

See,see, see!!!I already knew that. I don't think I smarter. Which is what I been telling you along. I stated a quote. Which was one you could not understand. I didn't think you guys didn't understand because you were stupider. But because your smarter. As such you won't look at the world in any way but the way that you know. I know what I said isn't some great statement. It a werid way to look at things. A different viewpoint.

Anyway I explain what the quote means. It simple means that your not being trueful until you been caught lieing because nobody prefect. We all lie. So when you know something isn't as good as it seems it most likely truer then something that 2 good to be true.

Me=winner. :)
