Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Yes, but the desire for being independent would cease to be a unifying force.

It would be like the USA and Britain and the USSR during WW2. Fine when we share the same cause. When that cause has gone, it is back to threatening to kill each other.

One of the SNP's policies is to get rid of Trident. They would not keep it so England would take it and probably plonk it into the middle of Wales this time. I know the SNP can't do anything about Trident from Holyrood but like many of their policies it doesn't reallly stop them from putting it in there.

The most recent poll that i know is that there won't be a majority in Holyrood after the election (damn the Additional Member System) and it depends who the Lib Dems form a coalition with (SNP or Labour). The SNP should get the most seats though according to the poll i am familiar with. However, the percentage of people is around 10% lower than that of who said they would vote for the SNP showing that people are voting for them as a kind of anti-Labour campaign.

This poll I am referring to was given to me by my modern studies teacher close to a month ago now. But Tony Blair just publicly insulted the ex-chairman of RBS after he publicly backed the SNP and Scottish Independance.

SNP may win but that doesn't mean the end of union (we're not all that democratic I think you'll find) also the Lib-dems will never choose SNP over Scot labour so a coalition could definatly be on the cards if it will keep out the nationists... Should be interesting... SNP could make it...

I know that if the SNP are elected it doesn't mean the end of the union but I think it would be a step in confidence.

And tbh I think if Scotland did become independant it would be a slow process of Holyrood getting more and more powers as time goes on and then suddenly "Oh shit we're independant"

Why do we need a separation of powers? that doctrine is totally outdated (if it ever had a place int he first place) and our system of institutionalised conventions allows for greater flexiblity whilst maintaining a greater level of civil liberty.

I don't like the prime minister involved in creating laws.

I don't like the fact that we have a monarch who could be control freak for all we know representing us abroad and having the power to veto laws (even though they haven't used that power for several hundred years)

We need a system more like the US one. In fact I propose becoming the 51st state.

You suck.
There is no real need for a seperation of powers in the British state. The whole system of a powerless monarchy means that it is much harder for a PM to gain control of the Judicary or the executive then it would be in another country. The army is loyal to the Queen, not Blair, and we know the queen will not try to seize power and the army will allmost allways support the Monarch over the PM.

Basicaly

While the Queen is Head of State, no PM can become too powerfull.
While the Queen is Head of the Legislature, no government can perform a legislated coup
While the Queen is head of the Army, no PM can perform and armed coup
While the Queen is the head of the courts, no PM can take control of them

Basicaly the Monarch is a safeguard of British civil Liberties (to a degree)

That's basically a tyranny...

PRECEDENT. Our Constitution... The last monarch that used his powers lost his head (literally). I think the next monarch will think carefully. He what the monarch does is not support by the population the Monarch loses...

As Jivdom said, the last Monarch that did that was beheaded.

You have a much higher chance, as demonstrated by blair, of the PM trying to remove CLs.
