Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

Do you not think its time the UK changed it's election system?

I mean I can see why the Americans have a FPTP system as it's based on the idea that the masses cannot be trusted but as long we're pretending to be democratic we should introduce an AV system! Everyone knows it would be better and more democratic and the only reason we don;t have an PR system now is because it in everyone's interests except he/she who delievers. For YEARS labour raved about it then suddenly then win under FPTP and suddenly forget about PR!

After the next election if a coalition is forced the AV may be the way for Britian from there on out!

What? The British system is of course corrupt. Because it's a hard won kind of democracy that began life as a totalitarian dictatship and passed through the realms of oligarchy. The American system looks as though it was designed to be corrupt.

the us system was designed to get rid of unelected monarchs who imposed illegal taxes on them.

No it wasn't. It was designed with the intention of democracy and freedom. The UK system is designed to keep a load of useless pomp and ceremony.

I'm a firm believer in the american dream that anybody can succeed if they try hard enough. The US system allows that. The UK soshy system does not. The US system allows it because freedoms are written into the constitution. The UK doesn't even have a written constitution.

well the romans and ancient greeks had some input on the system and the constitution was written by representatives of 12 of the 13 founding colonies.

It doesn't matter who wrote it. It matters that it supports democracy. An unelected queen and house of lords doesn't. and neither do you. You should be in guantanamo bay. Terrorist!!!

Is there a little evolution going on....

In the UK the system is slowly evolving to a true democracy..

In the US the reverse...

Actually the contrary is the case.

Canada is currently thinking of switching to something like what calc explained a mixed system. We currently have the same system as britain...but it's being debated of adding like 30 seats that are won be the PR system. Where if your party gets a certain percentage even if its very low, and it doesn't win seats in any constituencies, it can still get seats because of that percentage. Like for example the Green party got 8% of the total vote in the country in the last election's. [2.4mil votes] But they didn't win any seats.

With the mixed system they would get a couple seats...but it does open the government to some really stupid parties although I do agree that the voting system needs to be changed I'm worried about some really dumb parties getting votes.
