Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums!

Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register.

Join our Community

Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system.

I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way.

The elevator wasn’t working that day.

During the fifth term, Chasmania was the Director of Management. It was a position that he held for all 10 weeks and was, in fact, the ONLY director to hold on to his position the whole term. It was an amazing feat, considering that the other directors were catching a case of the strange, and somewhat exotic, virus known as Reallifeius-025. We’re working on a cure for it as we speak, by the way.

Sadly, RL-025 has found its way into the Director’s office and has infected Chasmania, who has stepped down from his position and required another election to take place. Darkmoss and Robert Hawkins, both assistant directors to management and public relations respectively, stepped up to the podium and debated against each other for the office of management (which has a VERY comfy chair). One shareholder was skeptical of the two, as they felt that the two were trying to give correct answers to everyone.

Voting came and passed and Darkmoss walked away with most of the shares and a new office (with a VERY comfy chair). Congrats Darkmoss, be sure to avoid catching the RL-025.

R.I.C.E. Discussions and other Gentlemanly things

Debated so hard that our skin fell off.

RICE, The Region Inc Committee on Everything. If you have an idea to improve the region, you’ll probably start here to gather support. If you feel that something in the business model needed to amended, you’ll also start here. You’ll probably start here for a lot of things if you want to improve the region. That’s how it works, so deal with it.

One of the latest discussions that was brought through to RICE was an election amendment. It had a few good ideas, but it was the last few sections that caused a debate in RICE about power and fairness. The first part of the last sections dealt with share limits on voting in elections and on amendments, and we shall henceforth call it “Share Limitations”. The second part of the last sections dealt with voting changing and preventing it, and we shall henceforth call it “Share Freezing”.

Share limitations is what caused the biggest debate in RICE, as it was a matter of fairness and preventing a takeover, vs. hard work and “ruining what a company is about”.

On the side of limitation, they mentioned the facts that the high share counts of two of the members made new shareholders feel like they could never catch up. And if they feel like catching up, we never know what kind of intentions they may have. Once the old members leave, and a new member has most of the shares, this new member can use his shares to ruin the company. So, the limitation side attempted to limit the share count to a number they considered fair.

Against the limitation, members mentioned that this was a company, and that share limitation would make buying more than the share cap completely worthless. The security of the company was mentioned and how a hostile takeover was impossible. It was also considered insulting to limit the shares of members who worked hard and who strived to improve the company with their shares. In short, RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE on both sides.

The share limitation side probably had more supporters, but this would have to have gone through the general assembly no matter what, meaning that those with the highest share count could have prevented it from being passed.

Share freezing, by the way, had little discussion and was thrown out almost immediately. The two parts never made it the final draft and now only the first half, which everyone agreed on, is being voted on as we speak.

R&D does it again

Did somebody mention potential profit?

Well, nobody mentioned it, but we felt that a short mention of this was in order.

There are talks about adding a new feature to the region. Stocks! Shareholders will be able to buy stocks in various products and things like guns, or brownies, to play the old fashion game of “buy low, sell high, or lose your house”. Of course, I was the only kid who called it that and the other kids hated me and my parents. They were probably communists. This feature may or may not be added in at a later time, but the chances are likely since everybody loves money (and not losing their house).
