| Welcome to the Global Right Alliance's forums! Firstly, you can only see a very limited amount of the forums at the moment. You will be able to see the full forums and properly participate in our region and its community when you register. Join our Community Now, on to the region itself. Don't let the name, specifically the "Right", fool you. We've got members from across the political spectrum, and our political parties have always reflected this. The Global Right Alliance (GRA), as primarily a gameplay region, has been everything from an anarchy to a monarchy to a homegrown rotatorship. The region has had such governments because of its culture, which adores political intrigue and thrives on confrontation. With the increase of the region's population, many veterans have returned. It is the beginning of a new Global Right Alliance and a new government system. I know the forums can be quite intimidating; there's people who have been here for nearly a decade and have over 10,000 posts. However, we welcome new members and encourage them to get involved. If you want help finding your way around, we have resources to help you to get on your way. Getting Started If you're already a member please log in to your account to access all of our features. |

In this modern chaos filled world it has been noted that it is what many consider to be "impossible" to conquer the face of the planet. There are too many weapons, too many people, and too much division. Even with the advent of nuclear weaponry, the proliferation of these doomsday devices has meant they could not be used for fear of catastrophic retaliation, foiling any regime who might seek to use them for world conquest. That all changes. Now. Turn 1: September 8, 2011: GNN's Monthly Report on World Political Trends: The Superstates A recent breakdown of international affairs and a meltdown of the global economy has left the world divided, fractious. Alliances have fallen universally, and the nations of all continents look to their own borders and self-interest. Isolationism is the new nationalism, and many formerly meddlesome states are content to sit back as their prior allies war and suffer vast natural disasters. Against this backdrop totalitarian rulers and new states are on the rise. In Asia an organization known as the Ruescher Empire has formed, spawned in back door negotiations between Israel, Kuwait, Taiwan, and the newly Unified Koreas. The Emperor rules de facto and de jure from his capital in Seoul, and under his command is the vast wealth and might of the lands now housed under his banner. This new coalition of states has relentlessly pursued technological development, merging burgeoning extra-atmospheric programs to good effect, and making leaps in other advanced areas of knowledge. A desire for self-defence and determination has led to heavy government investment in tracking and self-propelled ballistics launch patterns, and the Ruescher Empire celebrated today as it launched its first manned expedition to that luminescent satellite of our world, the Moon. In other news the energy sector is booming, with advances in nucleoid exploitive power prevalent, and a new integrated informatics system is being developed to aid the work of Ruescher citizens everywhere. On a more sinister note, dissidents that protested the Unification have been arrested at an alarming rate, and human rights groups have recieved complaints from opposition party members in Ruescher territories. To round out our report on this new nation, genetics researcher Andy Hsu brightened our day by announcing a breakthough in crop fertility and hardiness, which should prove a boon in the face of a growing, hungry, world population. Andy Hsu is considered one of the most brilliant of Ruescher Genetics' young scientists. Continuing this report on emergent powers, we turn our gaze westward, to the European contintent. A new Union has formed here of the disgruntled members of European society, with the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, and Greece forming an organization called the Union of Stratocratic States. This new nation is formed on the principles of fraternity and equality for all, and being under the control of no one but themselves. Accordingly, and as many expected, the IAEA has been screaming bloody murder about extraneous radiation signatures near Union nuclear plants, but USS officials assure the world and the Associated Press that these signals can be easily explained by new isotopes being used in the plants. Concurrently, one of our correspondents in the field has reported what appear to be rocket launches in Austria, and from this we can only assume that the USS has ambitions in the Final Frontier. Industrial integration is being promoted between various conglomerates, and a new massive scientific facility, the Greater Liberty Universal Research Center, which the Union is touting as the most advanced in Europe, just finished its ribbon-cutting ceremony and is open for business. International observers have been startled by a mass purchase of old defunct Harriers, and our research shows they are being scavenged for their jumpjets, for what purpose is unknown. Additionally, a recent call-up of military personnel seems to be focusing on those with missile expertise, again for what agenda we can only guess at. To finish off our look at this organization, a large construction has just been finished which will function as the new Union Space Center, firmly entrenching the Union's interest in the stars, though our correspondent dissappeared after filing their report. A search is underway. Finishing our report on the New Powers, as these three supernations are being called, is our dossier on the Senecan Federation. The Federation has absorbed the territories of the former countries of Iran and Syria, which makes it of unprecedented size for a middle eastern power. This new Federation came about as a simple convergence of interest for the two states, in that they are stronger together than apart, and as the man Seneca brokered the deal he has now been appointed the ruler of the concern. The Federation has invested heavily in nuclear power technology, as our correspondent has discovered from large buy ups of uranium mining areas by government ministries, and is also interested in alternate fuel sources, showing an ability to look past oil that many Gulf states are so sorely lacking in. On a less positive note, large scale expansion of the military infastructure has taken place, and many of our readers have expressed dismay at this development, threatening as it does the stability of an already volatile region. This has been your GNN senior world political analyist, Jason MacVrie. |
