Rules/Guidelines: These will PROBABLY be followed! To be clear, these are all rules to follow while posting and coming up with characters and what-not. It's all up to you what you do, mostly, but these are just some important guidelines of note: Roleplaying Rules 1. No Metagaming or Godmoding. For those who do not know, metagaming is roleplaying a character with knowledge outside of what they know, for instance, making a school student an absolute genius without having described this in your character's backstory, or giving your character absolute knowledge of where other characters are (Though it isn't a problem if you have them sort of wander into someone or arrange to meet someone ICly [In-character] or OOCly [Out of character], though OOCly arranged meetings probably still mean the characters do not know each other.) Godmoding, on the other hand, is acting as if your character is more powerful than he/she actually is or is described as being. This can include dodging every attack directed at you in battle-roleplay, breaking through high powered walls and defenses with single punches in regular roleplay, and just generally doing things like that. If your character legitimately has these skills, it is not godmoding. Okay. 2. Try not to write one-liners. A one-liner is exactly what it says on the tin -- A roleplay post that takes up only one line. This does not have nearly enough description or action in it to spark use, and doesn't show us any of your character's deeper emotions. C'mon, try and be a little deeper than that. 3. Don't bring out of character issues to in-character situations. By this I mean, if you and another user are having a fight between yourselves, do NOT suddenly make your characters have a fight or falling out, unless it seems like the right thing for the characters. After all, you should remain in character. 4. Remain in character. This means don't make your character do things he/she/it would not do. This includes bringing outside opinions, emotions, and thoughts into the character's mind and clouding what they would do with your own thoughts. Just let the character be themselves, as you envisioned them. 5. This applies more to writing characters, but be realistic. Don't make them the ultimate flawless hero that can do anything. Even superheroes have emotional weakness, and physical weakness. Besides, this is a supernatural world, there are plenty of things that could be stronger or equal to you in strength. 6. Please try not to be overly offensive. That is, don't go overboard with being a total jerk, if you're doing it in character. Out of character? Don't be a jerk. Don't do that. Don't. Out Of Character Rules 1. Don't be a jerk. Don't do that. No. Being a jerk will ruin the experience for all of us, and that certainly isn't a good way for things to go down, now is it? 2. If you happen to be roleplaying privately, or one on one, try to refrain from revealing in-character secrets out of character. If you happen to know a thing or two about the story or lore because I happened to tell you, don't tell everybody. 3. If someone is bothering you or you have a problem, go to an admin. Friendly neighbourhood admins. Go us. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This should be pretty much it for the rules. These can be editted at any time I see fit, or another high ranking admin feels is appropriate. Thanks for reading. |
