So what do you think about the education system. Do you think its slowly destroying our society with pointless bullshit or do you think its helping pave a path for tommorow. Personaly I think who ever decieded that the european style of education needed to be "improved" should be dragged out onto the street and beaten to death with the textbooks they supply us (All from 1974). |

I don't see much wrong with the american educational system. I think that the standardized testing needs to take the boot (seriously, if the HSAs and the SATs are the same why have other stuff?) and that private schools need to step up to par, but otherwise there's no glaring issues. But as for standarized testing, what is the point? The fact that some random kid in Texas needs to pass the same test as some equally random kid in Wisconson is obvious, and that's the double purpose of the HSA, not only to test your understanding of concepts x, y, and z but to ensure that you understand as those two random kids. Private schools, I'm not even going to go into those, save the mention that my neighbor goes to a K-8 school with 100 kids and 4 teachers. |

I agree Acredula, have you ever heared of Star testing. All it's for is for the government to know how well the students at the school are doing, and how much they have to be paid from it. They don't count for the students and take a whole week just to get them over with! |

I hate tests like that. I had to take tests in math and science.....that were made up by people in Michigan state. And I live in Ohio. I think they were to grade teachers or something. I just purposely failed my math one, because I hate my math teacher........and math. I tried on the science one because my science teacher is a good teacher. |

They don't have to. They get money based off how well they do. Since I go to a high tier school, we obviously get cash, while meanwhile the poor, badly equipped schools get poorer and worse. You see how this is going. Hell, the parents at my school already donate a whole bunch of money. |

But purposely failed? You can't blame the school system if the students are stupid. No offense Cahery... |

Sorry, my mistake. I did not purposely fail the test. I just didn't try. It didn't count for me, and I don't give a flying shit if it counted for the school or my teacher. |

You realize that how well you do on those tests ultimately factors in to how well the school itself is paid, right Cahery? That good teachers get fired or get their pay docked because of people like you? |
