What server are we going to be rolling on??

Nexus (High Population) (PvE)
- A lot of people are already planning on rolling onto this server. Premonition (WoW guild) will be rolling on this server.
Oylissa (PvE)
- No real info atm
Alizar (PvE)
- No real info atm
Cassus (PvE)
- no real info atm
Pergo (PvP)
- The only PvP server, a lot of other big name guilds have stated this is the server they are rolling on.

The current implementation is that all server times are in UTC. We are a global product, and it's the only time zone that is globally fair to all. (It also reduces some confusion on our end when combining logs and metrics from multiple regions)

Due to our studio being located in California, all of our messaging in beta so far has been given in Pacific and UTC with the occasional message or two forgetting to include UTC (But we are working on that!).

That being said, we have not yet finalized plans for "recommended realms" or alternate rule set realms. I suspect this is something that will be talked about in greater detail during those discussions.

Point of reference; we are only going to have one NA data center, and one EU data center at launch. As such, any labeling of Time zones will be purely cosmetic. Those types of filters have pros and cons on both sides of the debate (from both a player, and an operations perspective). For example, a vast majority of the NA population comes from the Eastern and Pacific time zones, it is much more important for us to have a balanced population across all of our realms rather than have some that are bursting at the seams due to an arbitrary label.

This is a good time for this discussion though, because we haven't finalized anything along these lines yet. So... discuss! :)

Do we know the timezones of the servers? I would prefer one that is EST. I noticed that Nexus was not during beta and it annoyed me.

No info on time zones yet but it would be nice to be on EST

From a Carbine employee on a reddit thread a few months back:

Apparently all servers are currently on UTC which is four or five hours later than EST depending on daylight savings. There is only going to be one NA server so it doesn't matter too much I guess as long as we pick an NA server. I'll vote once I decide if I care about PvE vs PvP.

I do prefer a PvE server but it's not a big deal. Overall I would say no preference.

Edit: I do like a high population server, but if that means you're stuck in queue for more than 10 minutes.... not so fun.

All of the servers will probably be high pop for launch, with whatever nexus gets name changed to being the most populated server.
In all honesty there is really only 3 choices: The PvP server, The super high pop server (Nexus), or one of the lesser high pop servers.

I think its important to list all the pros and cons I can think of for each choice so let me begin.

Pergo: PvP server

Pros:
*Very large server (possibly the largest), there is potential for lots of recruitment.
*Ganking.
*Years into the future this server will still likely be very highly populated since its the premier pvp server.
*The economy will have both pvp and pve in mind, there will be a bigger market for any pvp craftables.
(If you don't understand what I mean by pvp craftables think of it like this; You unlock pvp gem recipe, on Pergo the gem sells for 30-40g on Nexus it only sells for 10-15g.)

Cons:
*Large server means lots of competition against well established guilds.
*Ganking.
*Lots of headhunting (people could be used us as a "stepping stone"), could be harder to maintain a roster.
*Since this is the ONLY pvp server at the moment a good portion of the population might only be interested in pvp and not raiding.
*Likely to have extremely long queue times on launch.

Nexus

Honestly its essentially the same accept for a few points:

*No ganking (pro or con you decide).
*There will be less interest in pvp and more in pve.
*Less interest in pvp craftables.

Any of the other realms:

Pros:
*Initial queue times will likely be shorter.
*Less competition.
*We could potentially become one of the better guilds on these servers.
& If we are one of the better guilds our members will be less likely to jump ship to another guild.
*No ganking.

Cons:
*Years or even months down the road one of these servers could die off and become low pop (Alliance on Burning Blade lol).
*The skill of players might be lower (most skilled players who don't have a guild are going to roll on the servers with all the good guilds).
*No ganking.

(TL:DR)
Pergo & Nexus will be the largest servers and likely remain that way for years, however we will have lots of competition and more difficulty keeping a full roster. All other realms could potentially be more rewarding for us, however there is a risk the server we choose could die off in the coming months or years rendering us SOL.

Oh and if anyone can think of any other pros or cons go ahead and share em.

I like high pop servers, but let's keep in mind that Burning Blade was one of the original servers and had very long queue times in vanilla. So there are no guarantees about which servers may die or stay high pop.

I would rather deal with a queue time than have trouble finding groups or selling items. I'm going to vote for Pergo, but I wouldn't be upset we went with nexus instead.

I went with Nexus just due to notrly wanting to deal with the issue of being ganked at higher level questing areas. I've never enjoyed it honestly, would prefer to avoid it.

That being said, it won't bother me if we do pick to roll on the PvP server due to not caring over all. So ultimately my choice is Nexus, but if it ends up being chosen we go to the PvP server, sobeit.

Eh. I voted as neutral. But now I am slightly leaning towards the pvp realm because I started thinking about how people were on PvE realms. They were more annoying than being ganked.

Edit: Plus I have some great memories of being ganked and then you call on some buddies who are interested in PvP to come help you out and it would turn out epic.
