I'm BACK! Wow, what a crazy time I had. First off, getting there took a whole 15+ hours of travel time. I had a LOT of fun at the place and made a lot of friends. We had a bunch of clowns in the shop so every day was always filled with laughter and silliness. It was a great time and I have pictures and video that I can upload later. The real adventure was coming home... So, after staying up for over 30 hours because my roommate decides to be noisy as hell while he is packing, I dredge through the whole outprocessing process. Now, after my replacements arrive, I have no where to sleep so I had to stay up for another 12 hours walking around base and trying not to fall asleep. We get to the airport and get our bags checked through after tracking down all the people that need to fill out our papers(not fun...). Then, we wait 5 hours in the terminal WHICH had WiFi...until about 20 minutes after I got there. It went down and I was unable to log on. By then I just tried to sleep. When we got on the plane, the only way I can describe that experience is feeling like a sardine inside a can. The leg room between my knees and the seat in front of me was less than an inch. I was sitting next to the window and apparently the guy next to me didn't believe in personal space. He kept falling on me, elbowing me, having his legs protrude into my leg space...yeah really really annoying. I fortunately had been up for over 35 hours and I had tylenol PM...so about 6 hours of that flight went by quick. We stopped in Ireland for about an hour..and were told not to drink. How gay is that?! So anyway I tried to get online too but once again the Wifi was down. I started to curse my luck. Then we get back on the plane for the 7 hour flight to Baltimore. Apparently that guy I was sitting next to tried to move me into the aisle so he could hog two seats...yeah he realized quickly that wasn't gonna happen when I approached him. But once again, no personal space and I was woken up several times with him either falling on my shoulder, or his arm hitting me. Needless to say...I was glad to get off the plane in Baltimore. When we DID arrive in Baltimore, it took us 3 HOURS to get our bags... So it's about 1am there and our plane doesn't leave until 7am. I didn't even bother going to the hotel so I just went to the 24 hour subway (which the line was ridiculous by the way) and logged on to Wifi. I kept getting kicked every 5 minutes, so that was irritating. The highlight though was that when I went to get food, this lady in front of me paid for it as thanks for me being in the service. That definitely brightened my day a bit and I of course thanked her for the gesture. So 4 am rolls around. I had gotten lost in the terminal trying to find my guys who DISAPPEARED with my bags...and we had to wait 2 HOURS in line to check our bags. United Airways are the most UNORGANIZED airline company EVER.... We get to the terminal and they actually gave us priority to go through the security line. So we get on the plane at around 7 am after all that crap...and the captain tells us they are having a problem with the airplane. He says it is an electrical problem in the Galley (where they keep all the food) and they can't legally fly until it's fixed....wow....what the hell. So we waited for a good two hours, had to reschedule our tickets, and finally boarded the plane. The awesome part was the captain upgraded all us military folks to first class. Those seats were AWESOME :D. We arrive at Chicago at about 11am, flight leaves at 1220pm, so we make it to the terminal and there were NO outlets >.<. So couldn't log on to tell everyone I had gotten there. Mild irritation but no big deal, everyone was mostly asleep anyway...haha but I'd been up with no good amount of sleep longer than 3 hours for the past 40+ hours. Note: I called my shop in Nebraska and told them I'd be in Omaha about 2pm and needed a pick up. The guy I was traveling with had his wife picking him up and apparently he didn't want to offer me a ride. That was pretty lame of him since we just spent 2 months together in the desert, but oh well. Anyway we get to Omaha and an hour goes by...no ride. I call the shop and the guy said he FORGOT. I at that point was pretty livid and he had to hear some choice words over the phone. But give me a break, I had been up with so little sleep for over 50 hours. I just wanted to get home. I wanted a shower..no NEEDED a shower, food, and a bed to fall on. Anyway, after a - I'm not kidding - a 'debate' of who was going to come get me, they sent someone I knew wasn't incompetent. He picked me up and I finally got home... So yeah, that was my adventure

Welcome back! Sorry to hear how bad US Airways is ... I got to learn that the hard way one time myself ... when you made it to your bed, did you fall on it? Oh and the guy not minding his personal space ... why didn't you yell out something like "He touched me inappropriately" or something amongst those lines? Whats Ireland like? Did it smell of Irish Spring? XD

Yes. And it felt amazing. XD Because I was too tired. It's like when someone wakes you up and you just roll over and go back to sleep. Ummm it smelled like an airport. XD |

n_n then I need to write them and inform them that their soap does not smell like Ireland! I remember doing that when I was little. My grandparents would get up, wake me up with their getting up, I would roll over and snooze more. |
