Allison Barrington looked over the landing and she saw Paige McKenzie go into the study, sobbing with Mary Jo and Stephanie helping her in. Her heart sank. She had a feeling that she and Laura were going to be exposed. Earlier that day, Laura and Allison scorned her in front of the whole school. Aaron was also in the study. "What happened, Paige?" Aaron asked, suspiciously. He hadn't liked Paige, but yet he sensed her pain was real. She had been upset most of the day. "This afternoon, your sister and Laura Baines humiliated me in front of the whole school," she said, trying to keep in control, but nearly failing. "Why would she do that?" Stephanie asked, "I thought you were one of her friends." "I thought I was too," Paige said, "apparently, I'm not. And from the way word spread around school, I was lucky I wasn't torn from my activities. Although I bet someone put a full page story in the paper about me." "I don't think your real friends would do that," Aaron said kindly, "I think they are mainly scared of Allison." "I don't think they were scared of her," Paige said, "they were busily bowing and scraping to her and Laura." "I know what it is like to be scorned by her," Kristin said gently, "and I am much older than she is." "What has she said about you?" Paige asked. "Mainly she snubs and scorns me about my family's diminished prestige," Kristin said. "Wait a minute," Paige smiled, "you're Kristin Youngworth! One of THE Youngworths, right?!" "Yes, I am," Kristin smiled, "my grandpa, Carl Youngworth was the coach of the Yankton College Greyhounds." "Wow!" Paige smiled, "you really ARE Yankton royalty." "I think we'll get along well," Kristin said, "you are a history fanatic?" "Very much so," Paige bubbled, "I write a history column for the school newspaper. It's a mix of my activity and my liking of history." "Let me talk to some of my contacts at the Daily Press and Dakotan," Kristin said, "I am sure I can get you a place there with ease." "Sounds great, Ms. Youngworth," Paige smiled. Meanwhile, back in her room, Allison sulked. Her scheme to shame Paige and humiliate her in front of the whole school wound up being a miserable failure! Instead of being totally shunned and scorned through school, and the entirety of the school worshipping and showering her and Laura with the adulation that they think they were entitled to, Paige had gained her self-respect back and was jubilant, and was working at a new job as a reporter at the Daily Press and Dakotan! They want to make me suffer, do they? Allison sulked, I'll see them suffer! I will still win over them! Just then, Aaron came in. "Can't you EVER knock?!" Allison screamed in a snobbish rage. "Why not?" Aaron charged, "You don't knock on MY door, you barge in my room all the time, you hypocrite!" "It's different for me," Allison said snobbishly, "I have free rein here!" "You're a spoiled, selfish little brat!" Aaron raged, "and all you care about it hurting everyone who isn't like you! You've nearly destroyed Ms. Youngworth because of her lack of 'prestige' since her family died; and you then destroy Paige, your OWN friend, because she wouldn't conform to you and Laura, then you DESTROY her in front of everyone in the school! You've become a completely snobbish woman! You've no compassion, no decency and absolutely NO sense of honor! I really can't stand you, Allison! What happened to you?! What has caused you to become such a snob?!" "I am a Barrington, damn it!" Allison screamed, "that means we are the top of the crop in this one-horse town!" "The way you behave, you bring SHAME to this family," Aaron shot back, "you don't bring honor!" "You're no better than Mom and Dad!" Allison sneered, "This family is the top family in this town! And we should behave like we are!" "I can't even REASON with you, Allison!" Aaron said in disgust, "The minute you see reason, then we'll talk, but until that time, I don't want to even speak to you!" With that, Aaron slammed the door. Allison couldn't have cared less. She flipped her hair snobbishly, and grabbed her cell phone and called Laura. In a few minutes, Laura was outside of the Barrington house, and Allison slipped out the backstairs and went to her friend's car. Aaron noticed his sister's running out with Laura. He had had enough of Allison's schemes and lies. This time you've gone too far, sister dear, Aaron thought, I will make sure Mom and Dad know what is going on, and believe me, you will pay for it! With that thought in mind, Aaron went downstairs and to his dad's study. "Hey, Dad," he said. "Hi, son," Rick smiled, "what's going on?" "Dad, we have to talk," he said, "about Allison." "I understand what is going on, son," Rick said sympathetically, "more than you think. What did she do this time?" Aaron explained to his dad what Allison had done. The crippling of Mount Marty's computer system; the constant putting down of Kristin; the trouble she caused towards Paige. Rick was disgusted. "It's disgraceful," Rick said, "and I never saw how horrid she really was! Your mom said something about what she did to Kristin; and all that she's done to others, not to mention her manipulating you all those years. No wonder everything was topsy-turvy! I am sorry, son, if I hadn't done my share to stop it." "It's not your fault," Aaron said, "we all were at fault." "No," Rick said, "don't you take any blame for this, son. This is in no way your fault. I overindulged her far too much, and let her get away with it. Your mother and you saw her as she really was, and I was blind to her faults. Your grandmother knew her for what she was too. And she is always very wise." "What are we going to do about her?" Aaron asked. "Don't you worry, son," Rick said, "your mom and I will take care of this! Allison will not get away with this one! Not this time." Aaron waved and walked into the foyer. His mom and Kristin were watching a movie that they had loved back in college. His grandmother was working in her office. He went up to his room, and decided he should get some rest. "Things will work out," his dad had told him, but was he sure it would work out. Edited by AlbieGray689, May 1 2015, 07:54 PM.
