The scene picks up shortly after its ending point on Subversion. TIFFANY JAY: Nina, this match at Decay will be contested under Lionheart Rules. You’ve competed in one of these bouts before. My question is, just how adjusted do you feel to them overall? Nina runs her fingers through her hair. NINA STOKES: Every genre of match has it’s own particular nuances that you’ve got to be somewhat familiar with before you step into that ring. A Lionheart Match is no different. What most people don’t know is, my cousin Akira wrestles over in Japan. Last year, he was on a six to seven month excursion to the U.S. He stationed himself in Miami; that’s where I lived. A lot of people noticed that my style began to change and mold. I moved away from deathmatches, I began to hit harder, and focused more on psychology and technical prowess—that was mostly due to my cousin. About five times a week, we trained together and he taught me the finer points of Japanese wrestling. Now, if you look at the way they are structured, Lionheart Rules are very similar to Strongstyle and shoot-fight rules. Before Akira and I wrestled, our grandfather wrestled and competed in shoot-fights. Therefore, it runs through my veins, you know? People like Alexander mistakenly think I waltz to the ring for play. They understand that this isn’t a game. The way I wrestle, why—it’s apart of me… Nina is silent for moment before she raises her right hand. NINA STOKES: But, to answer your question more directly, I’m very comfortable with Lionheart Rules. Hell, part of me prefers them over standard rules. In a standard match, a wrestler is limited, not just by the confines of the ropes and the ring, but the confines of the rules and [/i]procedures[/i] as well. Lionheart Rules do away with many of those constrictions—and I love that about them. Tiffany nods as she sat her phone down on her lap. TIFFANY JAY: So, let me ask you this. You’ve already said that you are taking Michael seriously going into this bout. So, how are you training and preparing for this match? NINA STOKES: You know, in my last defense against XPJ in went in with a specific game-plan. XPJ was a much larger opponent than me; hell, XPJ is larger than most people in HKW. Standing toe-to-toe with him and throwing bombs would have been stupid. So, what did I do? I focused on a weaker ligament—his leg. And when the time was right, I snapped in that knee bar. Now, I said all that to say this, my sparring partners and trainers have helped me come up with a game-plan for Michael. Kari Rush is an amazing mixed martial artist, and she’s done some independent wrestling as well. She’s the one who has helped me develop said plan. Ad of course, I’ll be sparring with some of the best wrestlers and fighters that roll through Miami. At the moment, I can’t reveal specifics, of course. However, best believe that the preparation and work has already begun. It’s how I’ve been spending the majority of my mornings. Tiffany sheepishly smiles. TIFFANY JAY: Nina, as we come to a close here, I’d like to ask you one last thing. You seem like a person with a plan and a vision. So, what is your ultimate vision for the Lionheart Division and the Lionheart Championship. Nina lets out a small laugh. NINA STOKES: Man, we’d be here all day and night if I were to really break it down to you. So, I’ll try to simplify things. The Lionheart Championship was created because HKW was fixated on change and advancement. An MMA based belt and division within professional wrestling company was unheard of at the time. Therefore, it brought in a bunch of fans and onlookers—it was something special to see and observe. As time went on, that newness, that specialness, it faded away. My goal is to make the Lionheart Championship something special to behold again. A lot of people still see it as the weakest tier title here—it won’t be when I’m finished with everything. Tiffany nods her head and smiles. TIFFANY JAY: Nina, once again, thank you very much for your time. NINA STOKES: You’re welcome. Let’s do it again after Decay, yeah? The scene fades out. |

![]() Michael Alexander did exactly what he say he was going to do. He lobbied for the spot that Jason Jackson had against Taryn Willow, got the slot, and went out and made an example out of her. He then went back to his locker room, kicked his feet back up in the same position they were before, and continued to watch the show. That match was easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Michael was pleased with himself tonight, and couldn't erase the smile off his face. He's in a good spot, career wise. He's on a roll and poised for another title run in the land of Hard Knox and as he sat watching the rest of Subversion, he continuously ran through scenarios in his head, completely focused on his title match that was recently announced for Decay. He got his wish, he'd gotten the match. MICHAEL ALEXANDER: So it's going to happen after all, I get to fight Nina Stokes at Decay for the Lionheart Title. This is my first singles championship opportunity which makes it a completely different case than when I won the tag team titles with Jinzai. #SuperSaiyans MICHAEL ALEXANDER: This is my chance to take that belt, like I've wanted to from the very beginning, and make it into something. Something more than just HKW's MMA-based title. I want to make the name Lionheart go hand in hand with Hard Knox. I'm talking raising this title up, making it something more than it was originally meant to be. I'm going to prove to the world that this division breeds great fighters. There's no doubt there, this division attracted the very best. Despite that, not one person has managed to make this title great. Not Volkov, not XPJ, and certainly not Nina Stokes. Michael Alexander, deciding it's time to leave the arena and head back to his hotel room, got to his feet and threw a shirt on. Scooping his bag up, he looked up, right at the camera crew filming him. MICHAEL ALEXANDER: Oh, you caught that did you? Good. That was something the world needed to hear anyway, so it works out. C'mon guys, you can follow me out. I'm not done yet. Pushing past, He exits the room and begins to make his way down the hallway. The camera crew keeps pace with him, the camera on him the entire time. MICHAEL ALEXANDER: What that championship needs is somebody to put fear in anybody going after it. Thinking Nina Stokes when you're after that title doesn't exactly make me shake in my boots. Add onto that the fact that there isn't anything Nina does that would make something like that happen either. She's not outstanding, nobody that thinks of killers in mma thinks of Nina Stokes. Not a single soul and do you know why HKW? It's because she's nothing, zilch, notta. She claims she's taking me serious? That makes one of us. After fighting her once already, I'm not worried. Unless she brings something completely new, a refined skill set, I'm not sweatin it. You hearin me, Nina? Whatever you got, I'ma have a counter for you. Whatever you try, I'ma make you pay for it. You somehow managed to take me down, I'm going to choke you unconscious, exactly like you plan on doing to me. I welcome that challenge, Nina. Give me a real fight this time, give me your all. Take all that training you're doing, all of those good wishes, put it all to use. Come at me guns fucking blazing. I want Nina Stokes' A game because it'll make it that much sweeter beating your ass when you've trained so hard for it. Michael Alexander reaches the arean exit and pushes the door slightly open before pausing. MICHAEL ALEXANDER: Train your hardest, Nina, so I can show you it will never be enough. The laser focused Alexander shoves open the doors and disappears from sight. Off camera. His pocket buzzed and he pulled his phone out, a smile immediately forming on his face. MICHAEL ALEXANDER: Alright, California, here I come. He let out a chuckle before settling down in the driver's seat of his rental Cadillac. Backing out, he left the parking lot with a roar of the engine. |
