![]() Good morning, Nina. I hope you are doing well this morning, my lovely daughter. I know it’s fairly early, but I felt the need to sit down and write this to you. Although, you tend to wake up earlier than most; so, I trust you are probably wake by now… It’s been 365 days—a full year since you captured the Hard Knox Wrestling Lionheart Championship. That is a truly amazing feat in and of itself, considering the amount of talent that appears to be in that company. And for that, I am very proud of you, Nina. You know, I remember the night you won that belt very vividly. Truthfully, I had not attended many of your early wrestling matches in person; I...well, I just didn’t have the heart to do so. However, your father and brother told me it was imperative that I attend Smoke & Mirrors Night Two. You were going up against a nearly unstoppable force, and you needed us there for support. Therefore, I put away my foolish fears and attended. It was a violent match. I remember seeing you get beat down. I remember seeing blood pour from your forehead and drip onto the mat. I also remember seeing you make that man (who put you through sheer hell) submit. And even though you were bloody, even though you were exhausted, you held that belt up high! I must say, it was an amazing feeling...watching you accomplish your dreams first hand. It was then that I understood why your father and brother always tried to watch your matches in person. Dear, I’m not a wrestler. However, I do know that a champion’s caliber is determined by his or her skill, and what he or she accomplishes with the belt. By that definition, you have proven yourself to be a mighty champion:
Nina, I don’t say this often, but, I’m proud of you. I’m of everything that you’ve accomplished over the course of the past year. And I’m proud that I have raised an amazing daughter… I just want you to keep that in mind as you go into your next defense. I am proud in you, and I believe in you. So, go out there and win! But today, I want you to rest. Enjoy your accomplishments, and enjoy your day. Will you do that for me, please? Anyway, I’ll call you later this evening. I love you. —Mother |
