Asher is seen sleeping in his bed as Zagan peek over the edge of it and looks at him. It’s now eight o’clock in the morning, and Miss Solas has been up since six. Just waiting and wondering when her little play mate would wake up, and keep her company. She paced the house, did the house chores, and she even watched some TV as she sat on the couch in reverse. Causing the image of the TV to be upside down. Now there was nothing for her to do and she was done waiting.

She peeked her head further over the edge as she leaned over and whispered.

Zagan Solas: Pssst

Asher didn’t even flinch

She then proceeded to tickle the bridge of his nose. With her index finger gentle, and still, there was nothing. Letting out a breath she then stood up and looked down at her son knowing that she was going to have to do this the hard way. Turning her back towards him, she put out her arms and fell backward on the bed right on little Asher.

Finally, there was a groan coming from underneath as she wiggled to get comfy with a smile on her face.

Asher: MOM!

Zagan Solas: Shhh, I’m trying to get comfy, and there’s a big lump in your bed. I’m trying to work it out.

Another groan escaped her son’s lips as he sat up rubbing his eyes.

Asher: I’m the lump.

Zagan stopped wiggling and looked over at Asher with wide surprised eyes.

Zagan Solas: Ooooh my bad.

Sitting up she reached over and began to tickle Asher causing him to laugh.

Zagan Solas: What does my little man want for breakfast?

Asher: Waffles… Hahahaha.. I want … QUIT IT…. Waffles

Zagan Solas: Waffles it is.

She stopped tickling and stood up beside the bed and opened up her arms for Asher to jump into so she could carry him down stairs. He’s a lot heavier than he looks especially for a four-year-old but, his growth is above average, and he is always active so most of his weight probably comes from all his muscles.

As she carried him down stairs she looks over at him.

Zagan Solas: So what do you want to do today?

Asher: I want to go get the game system daddy and Nolan always plays so I can play wit em.

Zagan’s face cringed a bit and the sound of a game system. The last game system she had was a super Nintendo, and she played the Gamecube like one time. Everything else she had no clue what was what and what things were called. Plus there was the other issue.

Zagan Solas: You’re a bit too young to be worrying about having a game system. You’re four. You should be playing outside and using your imagination.

Asher: But if I start practicing now, I can beat them when I’m five!

He says as he holds up his hand with all his fingers extended as she sets him down at the kitchen landing on one of the bar stools.

Zagan Solas: You have all that stuff at your dad’s house. You can practice whenever you go over there.

Asher: I’m going to have to go over there everyday then.

Zagan watches her son fold his arms over his chest and let out a huff. Reaching forward, she buttons up his button on his Lion King Pajamas.

Zagan Solas: I told you I would think about it, and you go to your dad’s when ever he comes over and gets you. You also spend weekends over there. You’ll get enough practice in to beat them when you’re five. If you practice as much as you do now, you’ll probably be able to beat them while you’re still four.

She said reassuring her son as she walked around in the kitchen to start gathering things up to make her son’s homemade waffles.

At the news, Asher’s eyes grew wide with excitement.

Asher: You really think I could beat them when I’m four?

Zagan Solas: I believe you can do anything you put your mind to, and by the sounds of it.. it seems like you practice a lot. And what do we say….

Zagan waits a moment to have Asher finish her sentence.

Asher: Practice makes perfect.

Zagan Solas: Exactly.

As Zagan began to put the ingredients together, there was a silence that filled the room. An unsettling silence that caused Zagan to stop what she was doing as though she knew exactly what her son was about to ask her.

Asher: Are you leaving daddy?

Even though she was prepared for the question, it didn’t make answering it any easier.

Taking a deep breath to collect her thoughts, Zagan answered the best way she could.

Zagan Solas: Me and your dad aren’t…. Together. It said we were on paper because I was helping daddy keep what he worked so hard for to get. Now there is no reason for it. He loves Lyza, and I don’t think she would do him harm. Even if she was really mad at him. I think it’s time for them to be together because they make each other happy.

Asher: He doesn’t make you happy anymore?

Zagan Solas: He does…

She begins before she pauses to gather her thoughts.

Zagan Solas: Just not in the same way he and Lyza make each other happy.

Asher nods his head in understanding or at least she hopes he was understanding what she was saying. It was hard to explain things to him sometimes but, she did the best she could to be open and honest with him.

Asher: What about you mommy?

Zagan couldn’t help but turn around and look at her son inquisitively.

Zagan Solas: What about me?

She watched as Asher looks around the house before shrugging.

Asher: Where’s your happiness?

Zagan Solas: He’s sitting right in front of me.

She said without skipping a beat causing Asher to narrow his brows.

Asher: Mom...

He warns causing her to laugh a little.

Zagan Solas: All I need to make me happy is you, little man.

She says with a smile before going and kissing him on the forehead. Messing his hair up in the process. She then stops for a moment and looks at the clock letting out a sigh.

Zagan Solas: Your dad is going to come get you at around 10.

Asher: How do you know?

He asks a bit bewildered as she shrugs.

Zagan Solas: I just know.

She finished making his breakfast and he ate it like he was starving. He then went upstairs and cleaned up. Packing his overnight bag in the process, just in case. Cause usually when he goes to his dad’s house it’s usually not for the day. Asher usually ends up calling Zagan an hour before his bed time begging to stay the night with some encouragement from Brandon. She can always hear him in the background telling him to use his sad voice. She always says yes, because what makes them happy makes her happy.

Like clockwork, Brandon pulled in at around ten like she thought he would, and she sent Asher out alone to greet him. She already sent him the papers and the ring he gave her so she really didn’t want to get into it because she already made up her mind. If he didn’t want it, he didn’t have to sign. That was his choice. Now the option was there for him if he wanted to take things further with Lyza.

When Asher was gone, there was really nothing for Zagan to do. Sure she could do things but, most of the stuff she did she enjoyed doing it with Asher. She would call Alexa, or Felicity to go do something but, not today. Instead, she packed up her things and went to the nearest store to look at the play boxes, or x plays, or whatever they were called nowadays. So her son could have the chance to beat his dad, and half brother while he is still four.
