BKA

Boaz Kennedy (Astor) sits in front of a camera, his eyes showing depression. Sadness really. And why?

“I had the match won…” he says before the camera went on air.

“You sure you’re ready for this, Boaz?” Eli Zayn says, a look of concern forming on his face.

“Yeah.” Boaz replies, sliding his fingers through his hair before he continues. “I’m ready.”

Eli looks over at the camera and begins counting from three down to one before he says.

“Welcome to another Eli Zayn invitational, and joining me today is quite possible the most polarizing figure in RISE history…. Boaz Kennedy Ast---”

“No.” Boaz quickly reacts, “It’s just Boaz Kennedy.”

Zayn takes in a hard gulp, his eyes never moving away from the wrestling rookie.

“I want to ask you about that.” Eli says, his eyes remaining on the RISE (Pro) Great Lakes champion. “BKA…”

Boaz laughs, knowing full where the conversation was going.

“What happened to the A?” Eli continues, crossing his arms as Boaz lets out a sigh.

“I rem---” he hesitates. “I found out things that I wish I would have never found out. I want nothing to do with the Astor last name. I’m my father’s son and no one else’s. That is really the most I can say on that subject.”

“But wh---”

“Move on, Eli. Ask me something else.”

“Fine.” Eli shrugs his shoulders. “Since Emergence, you haven’t exactly been the Boaz we all knew. Loved to hate. Hated to love. What changed?”

Boaz looks up at Eli and slides his hand down his face.

“What changed?” Boaz asks, “What changed is for the past year I’ve been telling people that RISE Pro is more than just a developmental territory. We are all the fucking truth...and I?” he can’t help but look away. “I made a rookie mistake. I’m ashamed of it. I hate the fact that Cedric Chambers, someone who was once my tag team partner....is the champion now. I hate waking up every morning and realizing that I completely ignored everything my trainers taught me because I thought….” he stops again, “...I thought I knew better. I thought I was ready. I thought my trainers were simply force feeding me bullshit.”

Boaz stops, his eyes going back to Eli.

“A rookie mistake, Eli.. A rookie mistake is what costed me the RISE PRO Championship...and that hurts me. I had the bout won. I was going to be THE CHAMPS...and I made a rookie mistake. It made me realize how much the RISE trainers actually try to…” he pauses, looking away from the camera once again. “.... they try so hard to embedded these things in our mind, and I messed up. I fought CT as if he was the only one left, and I forgot about Cedric. A rookie mistake.”

“But you are a rookie, Boaz.” Eli replies.

“What has been my goal? To prove that RISE Pro wasn’t green. We aren’t just rookies, and I failed the entire company. Whether they hate me or not, everything I’ve done...everything I do is for RISE Pro. I made a mistake and that is not what Aurora Jansen taught me. That’s not what Arkia Fisk taught me. That sure as hell is not what coach L taught me….and I was angry. Angry that I let myself forget about Cedric. Angry that I made a rookie mistake. Angry that everything I stood for almost vanished.”

Blinking his eyes, Eli scratches his beard.

“What exactly do you stand for, Boaz?”

It takes him a moment, but once the moment passes, he knows how to answer the question.

“RISE Pro.”

Not saying another word, Boaz stands up out of his seat and glares at Eli Zayn.

“...and everyone who’s on the brand.”

No more words. Boaz simply walks away with the thought of Cedric Chambers holding the RISE championship in his mind. He stops, looking over at Eli as he says:

“No more words.”

Boaz walks away, stunned that the man who was so known for talking held his composure. Boaz tosses the microphone attached to his ear to ground and walks away, leaving Eli Zayn alone.

“Well, folks… I for one have nothing to say.”

Eli watches Boaz walk away, a look of concern growing on his face. The polarizing figure gets away from the cameras attention, his mind going in a number of different directions.

“The Champs…” he lets out, turning around to see his Great Lakes championship still hanging on the chair he was sitting on. He turns around and immediately pick it back up, his eyes fixed on Eli.”

“The fucking champs.” Boaz tells Eli. “I’ll be it.”

Boaz grabs his title, straps it around his shoulder and walks away.
