The letters S.O.S appear on the screen, followed by the appearance of “The Todd Marshall Online Podcast. With Guest Paul Harris”. The scene opens with the two men sitting on stools with a laptop in front of them.

Todd Marshall: Welcome to the Todd Marshall show, and today we have a very special guest. Manager of the S.O.S, the one and only Paul Harris and it is nice to have you on Paul.

Todd reaches over and he is met half way as the two men shake hands.

Paul Harris: It’s great to be on Todd. I mean after forty years in the business I finally get to experience online fame.

Both men give a short chuckle before Todd starts into the question.

Todd Marshall: That brings up something interesting. You have been involved for a long time. You have watched changes to the business over the years. What do you think are the biggest changes to the business since when you started and now?

Paul puts his hands in his jacket pockets, shrugging.

Paul Harris: Something that has definitely changed is that you have an easier time branching out in the wrestling business now. Due to online influences, and being a star in some way, you can do more now than you can when I started. You see wrestlers on tv, in movies, getting sponsorships and such that just were not available to us not too long ago. No one even thought of those things as possibilities when I broke into the business in the seventies. A lot of that is good, but there is a huge price to pay as well.

Paul cocks his head to the side looking at the computer screen, watching the comments pouring in as he speak.

Todd Marshall: You talked about the huge price that is paid. What did you mean?

Paul sighs, dropping his head.

Paul Harris: Fucking twitter man.Now twitter is an amazing tool for professional wrestlers but it is also one of the worst things to happen to the sport. I see kids all the time that spend more time on twitter than anything, and once the shows happen, they are nowhere to be seen. Yeah twitter is great for getting your name out there, as a manager I love it because I can use it to talk about my guys all the time. But when I was starting, people had to work their asses off to be known. Now a wrestler will type in a few wise remarks and a smart reply or two, and think they deserve to be world champion. It is an absolute joke, they think twitter banter makes you a star, and it might if all you want to do is be a youtube celebrity, but if you do not show up and give a hundred percent at the events. It is all meaningless. That is the biggest positive and negative about the business right now.

Todd nods along with what Paul is saying.

Todd Marshall: I agree with that, and I think wrestles use it as a crutch, instead of using it as a tool that can be useful when not overused.

Paul Harris: That is exactly it. I really do not know how many of these so called superstars could have made it without instant fame and credibility at times. It is disappointing from time to time, because it takes little to no effort to type out 140 or 280 or whatever it is now characters, to try and get yourself known. Takes far more effort to just go do your job night in and night out.

Todd looks down at the computer and sees a comment. He reads through it before looking at Paul, and reading from the screen.

Todd Marshall: Speaking of that S.O.S 2415 has a question. “If you were in charge of a wrestling company what would you do with people who use twitter too much and do not want to work the shows? And is there anyone from this generation that would have been a major star when you broke into the wrestling business?” I guess that is a couple of questions if you do not mind answering.

Paul Harris: I would not book the assholes. I mean if you are not going to show up ready to go, why in the hell bother? These guys are paid way too much money, and they do not know how to act a lot of times. If you want to do both that is fine, but if you are a twitter star, and a bum when it comes to working on the shows. I do not want you, and you should probably do something else. As far as who would have made it back in the day. My answer to this is the biggest stars in the world would have been Shane Atwater and Chandler Scott. Both men do their jobs well and have great looks to them. Jaxon Queen is another wrestler who would have made it, Em, basically all of UE. I think Dom Hartar or however you say it properly would have been okay. Now the one thing I have to mention and this is not an insult, but I have not brought up a woman yet. Not because I do not respect the girls, but when I started female wrestlers were not allowed in the ring with men. They also weren’t big names, no offense to any of them. I am not going to insult the women in this business. Felicity Banks is one of my favorite wrestlers and one of the best ever, but she would have never been a big name in the seventies because that opportunity was not there. I am glad it is not that way anymore, but it was just the nature of the business back then. By the way great name from the person asking the question.

Todd scrolls down the screen finding another question and turning towards Paul.

Todd Marshall: We have another question this one from HKW4Life. He asks “With you managing the S.O.S. I wonder how you feel a wargames match between the best members of the S.O.S versus the UE would go, and who do you think comes out on top?”

Paul lets out a laugh shaking his head no the entire time.

Paul Harris: Are you kidding me? UE destroys us at the moment. No offense to our guys, and I am sure he who has no name, J-R, and Brutus would do okay, but overall UE wins that wargames 99 out of 100 times. You have five future or current Hall of Famers, two of the greatest of all time in Em and Fel, and the other three would mop the floor with almost anyone. Jaxon, Tony, and Jinzai are a mountain of their own. My guys would fight for their lives but I am not going to sit here and lie about the results. Now if there is one X factor in this match it is the deity wearing the mask on our side. Honestly, I do not think UE have any idea of what he is capable of. That is why I said they only win 99 out of 100 times. But, as far as matching them up in War Games, I do not like our odds, and I will tell our guys that. I know it is MY JOB to hype my clients up, but that is just a moronic question. I would give RIP a heavy advantage against our guys in War Games, the experience factor is just too much to overcome. Plus spot to spot, overall they have more talent. To me this seems like a stupid question. Not to mention my guys are far more spread out and hardly work together.

Todd Marshall: I got another from Shane Atwater fangirl. She says “You mentioned some great talent in the wrestlers that would have made it back in your day, but you did not mention Christian Kane, Elijah Black, and Lady Magdalena. Why did you not mention them on your list?

Paul is responds without hesitation.

Paul Harris: Magdalena would be the same reason I said for Fel. Nothing against her it is just that women did not garner that kind of support back then. Black and Kane would both have the talent to make it when I started, but neither would have. Black could not have talked like he does now, and got away with it back then. The political statements, the controversy, and such would have been too much for the guys in our day. This is where I think wrestling is better now, but if you are asking me if Black makes it back when I started as he is now. No, and I think even Elijah would tell you he would be too controversial for the wrestling world back then. He certainly has the talent to, but he would have never been given the chance to succeed. The same with Kane, I mean the guy is unbelievably talented, one of the best in the world without a doubt. He is bar none one of my favorite wrestlers in the world. Yet, had rumors about him enjoying the company of men got out he would have been destroyed. I can speak to this because that is what happened to me, and I was nowhere near as talented as Kane is. I was the gay wrestler, and in many areas and regions I was blackballed because of it. This is not a knock on any of these wrestlers that you have brought up. It is just the truth, so do all three of those wrestlers have the talent to make it back then? Absofuckinglutely. But unless they changed everything about themselves, they wouldn’t have.

Todd Marshall: A question from Faroutman. He starts “You have been in smaller organizations most of your career, regional wrestling and the independants. Who is the best currently in that area, and do you feel that they have it to make it in a place like HKW against top stars?

Paul smirks at the comment.

Paul Harris: He who has no name.

Todd Marshall: That is Sanskrit right?

Paul lets out an audible groan.

Paul Harris: I hate it when people say his name but yes him. Anyways, he could clearly make it in a place like HKW. The problem there is I do not think he wants to be exposed to that kind of fame. Also, HKW would be taking a huge risk with him. He has no heart or soul, he is void of emotion and does not care about anyone. As his manager I know this first hand. I could be decapitated at ringside, and he would not give a damn. That pretty much sums it up, and I do not blame him for staying lowkey, and I will never blame HKW for avoiding signing that thing. He is uncontrollable most of the time, and he will never change. It sucks in a way because I think he can beat anyone in the world, he is top five, but then again I am clearly a bit bias. That said I am also bias towards the S.O.S as a whole and I am willing to say they would lose to the likes of UE and RIP. I try to be honest, and in my opinion the deity under the mask would be world or global champion within six months of his HKW debut. And you would have to prove me wrong on that for me to ever believe he wouldn’t be.

There is a moment of quiet before Todd finds anyone question to ask Paul. Paul reaches over motioning for something. A moment later he is handed a water, which he opens and takes a sip of.

Todd Marshall: Here is an interesting question. TooMuchAction asks “There are legends about Jo Nowak being one of the baddest men in Poland. Both in the ring and even out of it. You recently said that you worked in Poland when he was starting out. Do you care to confirm any of this, and do you have any stories about Jo Nowak?”

Paul busts out laughing.

Paul Harris: I can absolutely confirm that the crazy mother fucker is one of the scariest dudes I have ever met. I hope he doesn’t kill me for this, and I am sorry if you do not want this story told Jo. I will buy you a round if you let me live. Anyways we were in Gdansk, Poland in November 10th of 2003 I believe, might have been the 11th. It was one of the last shows I ever did in Poland. Anyways, the champion at the time was this guy name D-Troyer, and he was this six foot eight inch brute that no one really screwed with. He was like Brutus only not as fast, but either way he showed up to the show twenty minutes late. Well when he arrived at the arena he was informed that he was no longer booked for the night. Needless to say he was not happy about it. For some reason, he still went to the locker room apparently looking for a fight, because he was a fucking dick. Anyways, he gets to the locker room and this is in Poland where you had shared locker rooms for half the guys. D-Troyer was walking in just as Jo had finished his match. Jo walks through the door, and apparently Troyer thought Jo cut him off. Which Jo at the time pretty much wanted to ride his bike, wrestler, leave the show and drink. From what I have heard that has not changed too much. Okay, well Troyer walks in right behind Jo and just shoves Jo against his locker and because no one had ever done anything to the cunt, he screamed at Jo “If you don’t like it, do something.”. Well Jo being Jo hauls back and throws a left hand from hell, Troyer turned his head when he saw it coming, but the fat fuck wasn’t fast enough to totally avoid it. It caught him right here.”

Paul points to the part of his nose between the tip of the nose and the nostril.

Paul Harris: Jo had thrown the shot with such force that it literally forced D-Troyer's nose to break at a forty five degree angle. Troyer hits that ground and blood is just squirting across the locker room at this point. It was a fucking gusher if I had ever seen one, and I have been around a long time during a lot of fights. But that crazy bastard Jo wasn’t done yet, apparently Troyer had pissed him off at other times as well. Next thing I know Jo is in a mounted position on the fat fuck, he grabs his shirt and just starts clashing his head off of Troyers. Damnest thing I have ever seen in my life, but anyways Jo did this four or five times, and the rest of the locker room must have realized that Jo was not stopping. Because six guys rush over to stop him from killing this guy. Pulling Jo off, they get Jo off of him and Jo starts screaming something in Polish, and everyone lets him go, and they turn around and leave the locker room. Well, I do not speak a lick of Polish. So here I am in my 50s the only guy in the lockering with Jo Nowak and this fucker he might be trying to kill. Blood pouring down Jo’s head, most of it being Troyer's, but if you bash your head off someone else's. You are going to bleed as well. Jo just stares at me for a moment, and I blurted out. I do not speak Polish, but I am guessing you asked for us all to leave. Jo smirked, I think it was a smirk anyways, hard to tell with Jo. Anyways, as he was turning to apparently go back to beating the hell out of Troyer, I yelled out “Hey Jo do you want to grab some beer, My treat.” Jo stops on a dime walks over and grabs his bag and I ended up buying a bloodied Jo Nowak more beer than I thought a human being could consume in a night. Just so he didn’t end up killing that piece of shit.

Todd Marshall: Jesus, so you just left him there?

Paul Harris: Fucking right I did, I wasn’t going back there. Apparently, Troyer felt the same way because he quit the next day after being released from the hospital. But yeah, Jo is not someone I would ever mess with.

Todd laughs shaking his head to the side.

Todd Marshall: I know we do not have that much time, but I was hoping to get some quick thoughts on James Jr. before you left. Do you mind?

Paul throws his hand out as if to say of course not.

Paul Harris: The kid's a star, he is also one of the smartest men I have ever met. He will however rub people the wrong way. Mostly because his intelligence comes off as annoying arrogance at time. Which we already saw with Kol’s comments towards me on Twitter. By the way, another guy who probably would have made it in the 70s was Kol. Maybe not as big as he is now but I am not sure. Either way, the kid has all the potential in the world. If he keeps his wits about him, does not lose control, and is actually given a chance. He has a very bright future.

Todd Marshall: You have anything else to say before you go?

Paul extends his hand to Todd, which the interviewer meets and shakes.

Paul Harris: Yeah, thanks for having me on, and I will be back. I enjoyed this, and next time I will bring more stories. Provided Jo Nowak does not kill me, and we can talk more about the S.O.S and where I see the business going.

Todd Marshall: Well, I am sure our audience will enjoy that, and we will see you next time on the Todd Marshall Podcast.
