Wadjethotep

As the jet was up in the air and over the Atlantic he unbuckled his seat belt, unbuttoned his jacket, and removed his sunglasses.

It had been a very stressful day but one that he would never forget. The same could be said for a number of people. It’s always special when a new life comes into the world. Especially one as sweet as Peyton. A smile escaped his lips as he thought of her before he eased his head back and closed his eyes.

It felt like the first time he could truly relax today. Everything was so hectic and he was so worried about her coming before he had to fly out to Milan for Defiance. Luckily he found someone to charter a plane for him. Initially they wanted to land in Paris but he was strongly against it. After some bickering and the agreement to pay whatever it took they said they could land in Zurich and then he would catch another flight to Milan.

If he had it his way he would never step foot in France again. He never wanted to at least but it was also something that was inevitable. Working for NKP was a guarantee that France was always an option. The birth, HKW, NKP, and HELL had all been on his mind lately. More so than usual.

After his latest defeat in HELL it had him really wondering what his place there was. As if he could feel himself starting to get lost into the shuffle. A place he didn’t want to be at all. He just lost the best chance he had at winning a title there and now he was just going to float around there. He had to think of something to maintain some kind of relevance but nothing was coming to mind.

Maybe because he was focused on so much in other places. NKP was one of those places and they very much had a lot of his attention. For some reason he still managed to do his best work in Europe. Something he was hoping for during this HKW tour. This feud with Kol was starting to drag out old feelings from him. A drive he had almost thought dissipated into thin air. Maybe it was just that it took this long for things to work out in his head. December would be one year since he tried to kill himself. Now he was just trying to distance himself from the memory. It helped when the main people you had to worry about were either current or former world champions.

Maybe that’s why he found himself thinking of beating Kol so much. It was still the same reason he thought of getting the best of Aiden and Raven for once. That it would cause people to notice. Maybe it was just his lack of self confidence or self worth that gave him the feeling that no one really gave a shit about him. There was a handful this didn’t apply to but for the most part he felt as if he could go back to Irkutsk and no one would care much.

Sometimes it was an eternal battle with himself. Why should he make them care if they don’t care now? It was a hard question to answer, even if he was the one asking. The first thing he tried to tell himself is that it’s his job. It’s a business where you have to get yourself over. You can’t just expect it to happen. If you’re not going to put out the effort then you’re not going to get the reaction you want. That was his way of justifying it as business. Deep down he knew what it was. He just wanted to feel some kind of acceptance. To feel some kind of love. It didn’t matter before when there was a mask. Now that there’s a person, it made all the difference in the world.

Beating Kol would be that moment where the whole world would open their eyes in surprise. The moment that little Ty showed that he wasn’t so little. It would also be the exact moment he’s been looking for. That one match that turns around all the misfortune he’s had before. He knows it only takes one moment and that could be it. It’s why he has to be so aggressive. Why he can’t let up for one second. The number of people Kol has disposed as HKW Global champion and NKP Openweight champion is staggering. The length of the reigns alone is enough to make one take notice. One over a year and one edging closer to the half year mark. He was going to have to dig deep. It was going to be one of those moments where he would have to risk it all. Because the challenges after that didn’t get any easier.

Dom Harter. Of course he knew the name. Who didn’t? Dom was only a little over a year older than him but just seemed so much older. Likely cause of all the accomplishments. There was no denying that he wished he had just half of the success Dom has had. But he knew it wasn’t that easy. That he was going to have to carve out his own legacy. Ty also knew a win over Dom Harter would look quite good as apart of that legacy. Ty wasn’t dumb though. He knows Dom wants to win in Mass. They both have connections to the state. They both have connections to Worcester and Boston. They also both eagerly wanted to be HKW World champion. Some might just view it as some random match near the bottom of a house show card but Ty didn’t see it like that. Every match is an opportunity. Some opportunities are bigger than others. Facing Dom is one of those moments where it can open people's eyes. It could be Ty’s first signature marquee win in HKW. Something he’s going to need. Because right after that…

Crowned Royalty. Four from Defiance and four from Subversion battle against each other. Each one with the same goal. Win. Ty was taken off guard when he was announced as one of the four from Defiance. He still hadn’t won a match. But it showed him that they still have confidence in him. Which meant he would have to show confidence in himself. Not necessarily a strong point. Especially when he looks at the competition. Annie, Felix, Nest, JZ, Sophie, Tommy, and Tristan. It’s hard to argue who could walk away the winner. It’s hard to argue who the favorites would even be. Maybe once the brackets are revealed then you could really start to make predictions. As for now he just had to stay focused that if he continued to work hard things would go the way he wanted. It was also incredibly evident to him that this was nearly impossible. At some point a wrench was going to be thrown in somewhere. No matter how much he hopes that it never comes.

Then everything was going to lead up to one moment. The chance to wrestle in front of his adopted home. The place that took him in and gave him love. The streets to the Olimpiyskiy might as well be paved in gold on that night because he’s showing up to take the treasure. He’s not sure who he will face there but he feels bad for whoever it is. There’s no way he can go home and look like a fool. There’s no way he’s going home to lose. This will be one of the finest nights of his career. He can just feel it.

Then his mind slipped to The Tribe. He could never forget about them. He always had to keep them at the back of his mind. Because if he didn’t then they would swoop in like hawks and take him. It was the last thing he needed right now. For someone to show up and take everything he’s worked so hard for. The Tribe had a tendency to make him look like a fool. It wasn’t a feeling that was well received. He yearned for the chance to return the favor. To meet them across the ring and be able to drive his knees into their faces. To bend and break them in the way he felt they deserved. Some say revenge is petty. He learned petty from the master.

Then his mind moved to Jackson. Jackson meant well. At least to him he did. He was always polite and nice. Jackson just has a way of drawing attention to himself and not always in the good way. When Aiden went after him in New York it made his blood boil. But in the end he blamed himself. He backed him up when he said he was looking for a fight. Had he just tried to diffuse the situation and calm him down maybe he would be missing a handful of teeth at this moment. It definitely made him think. It also made him want to air more to the cautious side going forward. Yet being cautious also wasn’t a guarantee of astounding results either. It was these conflicting thoughts that were keeping him awake in a time when he should be trying to sleep.

Yet Jackson was still on his mind. This man was supposed to be his partner and now he was to face him. It was a rough spot to be in. He knew Jackson wasn’t in the best condition. He had to be sore. If he took it easy on him then he would likely hear it in the locker room. Then there was the other side of his mind that reminded him that Jackson was set to face Fel. The end goal. No matter what condition he was in if he beat a man with a world title shot only weeks away the matchmakers at least had to be aware of it. Or even better Fel had to be aware of it. He knew that she couldn’t give a fuck less about him and it got to him. It drove him further. The same way Kol acted as if he wasn’t a threat to him. The time was coming to show Kol that he was very much a threat to him. And when that time comes maybe Fel will realize the same.

As he closed his eyes and leaned his head back he thought back to Moscow. It was almost if he was there. He could see himself walking down Arbat street. He could see all the vendors. Smell the food. A smile came over his face and he didn’t even know it. The stress and worry of the day was finally letting him go. Moscow was calling him home.
