The Crimson Baroness

The scene opens backstage in the Olympic Stadium, where The Tenacious Little Bastard himself, Dom Harter, is standing by watching a replay on the monitor; the ending of the dog collar match plays out again and Dom winces as he watches Aries deliver that second piledriver. His attention is diverted, though as, out of the corner of his eye, he spots somebody emerging through the curtains.

With the help of the medical staff, Annie Zellor is limping towards him; the blood practically staining her face at this point despite the staff’s best efforts to wipe it clean. With one hand holding the back of her neck, Zellor pushes herself free of the grasp of the medical personnel, and into the arms of her boyfriend.

DOM HARTER: Goddamn…

He says as he wraps his arms around Annie. The thumbtacks are still sticking in her back after that spinebuster, and cause Dom to adjust his hand position. Annie grimaces in pain, whining softly, her voice muffled by Dom’s chest. A smear of blood appearing on the previously pristine black hoodie as the head wound continues to flow.

ANNIE ZELLOR: …I’m sorry.

DOM HARTER: You’ve got nothing to apologise for.

His hand raises to the back of her head as Annie finds herself being cradled. She’s fighting back the tears as she grips her boyfriend tightly, using him as a support to help herself remain upright. The thumbtacks in her back, the almighty headache from those early shots, the throbbing pain down below from the cunt punt – all pale in comparison to the pain in her neck and spine from those piledrivers.

She can barely stand, her knees shaking as Annie presses herself closer to her boyfriend. He leans down to gently kiss her on the top of the head as she repeats herself from moments ago.

ANNIE ZELLOR: Sorry.

DOM HARTER: Don’t be.

ANNIE ZELLOR: But…I lost…

She whines in between sobs. Zellor inhales sharply, gritting her teeth as the pain shoots down her spine again. Harter leans down again, kissing the top of her head once more.

DOM HARTER: There’s no shame in you losing tonight. Not in that match, not to Aries.

He’s speaking calmly, almost whispering.

DOM HARTER: You gave it everything you had, and I’m proud of you.

ANNIE ZELLOR: Really?

A wave of comfort washes over her as Annie feels herself being embraced. Squeezed gently before Dom releases her. The pair look at each other for a moment, staring into the other’s eyes until he finally speaks again.

DOM HARTER: Now, go let the doctors do their thing.

Annie smiles despite it all, brightening up the room as she does so.

ANNIE ZELLOR: Ok…

She gently squeezes his hand before limping away towards the medical staff. The half dozen members of staff are still standing a few feet away as Annie tells them.

ANNIE ZELLOR: Alright Dr. DeMille, I’m ready for my checkup…

And the scene fades to black.

Lyza Reyes

Posted Image

Backstage at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia, the former ITV Champion, Lyza Reyes is seen near the exit with her belongings. Changed out of her ring gear, she dons some light blue skinny jeans, Timbs, and a bubblegum pink (faux) fur coat, channeling Diplomat member, Cam’Ron. Warned of the cold Russian winters, she’d rather have excess layers as opposed to possibly catching pneumonia. Every minute spent waiting for her car felt like forever, maybe because she just wanted to get the heck out.

In the meantime, HKW Interviewer, Tiffany Jay approaches Reyes with reluctance at first. Interviewing someone after an unsuccessful title defense can be tedious, to say the least. Lyza, obviously in pain somehow manages to remain in good spirits or as good as it could get.

Tiffany Jay: Lyza, I won’t take up much of your time, but if you could kindly share any thoughts on what happened tonight?

Lyza looks the opposite direction, there doesn’t seem to be signs of a vehicle pulling in. She then turns to face Tiffany again, nodding as she prepares to come up with a response.

Lyza Reyes: Craziness. I think I’ve pissed off the medical team for incessantly asking if I had suffered a concussion or not. Freakin’ Redmayne threw me out the ring like a temporary UPS worker handling a package on the last day of his tenure. Did I really see a gho--? Matter of fact, wish I had one because I can enter another dimension, ones filled with kittens and mimes floating in a galaxy. Reality bites a big one right now, Tiffany.

She sighs, lowering her head as her own words brought her mood down. The camera was still rolling, though. She quickly collected herself to continue.

Lyza Reyes: I’ve expressed grievances regarding my last several matches. Something about that Interbrand TV title brought out the hooligans. Granted, Cedric, Hunter, Elijah, and Ashley weren't bottom of the barrel talent by any means, it's just...a little decorum is appreciated! You know when you decide to throw a get-together expecting nothing crazy? Just good clean fun, and then it becomes Project X on jingle jangle? I wasn’t ready for that; it honestly brought a traumatizing childhood memory involving a faulty bumper car at a carnival I went back in my Corona days. (You know the 3-day bootleg carnivals that show up to your town where the ride operators are meth addicts.) I can go and rewatch the match and pinpoint everything that happened to justify the outcome, but the fact is, Ashley Marvel Capcom came through. Mind you, she wasn’t the biggest or strongest, but she surprised us!

She raises a fist for emphasis of Ashley’s tenacity.

Tiffany Jay: Yes she did. Before I let you go, can you tell us what Hard Knox Wrestling has to look forward to with the “Universally Dope?”

Without hesitating, she furrows her brow to respond in anticipation of this particular question being shot her way.

Lyza Reyes: I need to keep it moving. I’ve had a great run as the ITV Champion, but it’s like, new year, new things to aspire to. See how I’m like 3 weeks late on that, while the January 1st resolutioners are back to their old habits? That’s how I like it. More room for stretching at the gym, figuratively speaking. I’m far from done, Tiffany. There’s still plenty of goons I need to take to the Space Age. Let Ashley see what it really takes to be a “great” ITV Champion. One of the producers told me not long ago that I held the ITV Championship for 280 days, not bad for a title that changes hands quickly. Maybe she wanted to cheer me up, noticing that I was on the verge of tears.

She shrugs.

Lyza Reyes: I’m not afraid to admit that I have what it takes to elevate a division and add prestige to something. Look what it took for the next person to become the Interbrand Television Champion. Now imagine what an empty-handed dork like yours truly is capable of…

She reaches her hand forward, making a swift wiping motion as if drawing a rainbow. A beeping sound from her mobile phone breaks the momentary silence.

Lyza Reyes: Now excuse me, Tiffany, I have a basket of FREEDOM fries I need to shamelessly demolish.

A black Lada Granta is seen pulling into the parking garage of the venue, getting as close as possible to Lyza. She waves goodbye to Tiffany Jay, as the driver rushes out of the vehicle to help her with her belongings.

As the scene starts to fade out, the camera mic picks up Lyza saying, “Ultra” in a whispery voice.

Brian Stryker

Brian Stryker practically leaps through the back curtain. He is greeted by a few cheers by the few Subversion production crew in the area as he offers them high fives. Subversion has proved Defiance wrong and beat them in the first round of the Brand Supremacy match, Stryker being the sole survivor from Team Subversion. He is all smiles as he is greeted by Subversion interviewer Tiffany Jay. The two share a quick hug as Brian apologizes for the bit of sweat on her top.

TIFFANY JAY: Ladies and Gentlemen, the sole survivor of the Subversion/Defiance Brand Supremcy, Brian Stryker. Brian, congrats on the victory and advancing the brand to the finals to take on Team Underground first off. Second, tell us what was going through your head during that stretch when you were facing a 3 on 1 attack.

BRIAN STRYKER: Tiffany, it wasn’t anything going through my head. I don’t panic when I’m in the ring. Was the fact they had the major man advantage obvious to me? Of course. I’m not crazy, the number games always spell bad times usually. But Sophie had my back. The Daughter of Subversion helping the Dad of Pro Wrestling? It just makes sense.

TIFFANY JAY: Even after Sophie El helped eliminate Artemis Kaiser, their captain, there were still two men you had to face in Inferno and Ace Watson.

BRIAN STRYKER: There were. But everyone knows I don’t care about the numbers or the odds. All that counts is the experience. And 15 years of experience came out tonight. 15 years of doing this sport were left in that ring. They had every reason to win tonight. But like the Atlanta Falcons against the Patriots, they choked. Like the New Orleans Saints against the Vikings, they choked on the last play. And Subversion made them pay. WE made them pay because I may have been alone in that ring, but it was still a Subversion victory. We bleed blue and always have each other’s back. So tonight belongs to Subversion, and it’s only just begun.

TIFFANY JAY: Very true, as next week in Manchester, England you face Team Underground who won tonight after some questionable moments, including the betrayal of Rise by the Daughters of Janus. Does seeing that give Subversion any…apprehensions?

Brian couldn’t help but laugh. He held his hands up and waggled his fingers at the camera while going “Oooooooh” in a ghostly way.

BRIAN STRYKER: Hell no it doesn’t. Subversion rallied around our captain. We survived the constant sneak attacks by Defiance. They thought they could break us and they failed. As for Underground? Well they got some talent on their for sure. Being the black sheep of HKW puts that kind of chip on your shoulder. But then again, Subversion is full of that as well. Subversion always gets looked at as the middle child of this company. Defiance thought they could bully us, they failed. Underground thinks they can worry us, they won’t. We march into Manchester in one week. And by this time next week, Subversion will be marching out as the supreme brand of HKW. Why? Because we are simply better than everyone else. And just like Nick Foles did to the Vikings in the NFC championship. We are gonna dismantle the Underground. And then everyone will realize that Subversion is the place to be.

Brian gives his trademark smirk as he pats Tiffany on the shoulder before walking off, starting to sing the chorus of Eiffel 65.

BRIAN STRYKER: I'm blue da ba dee da ba daa! Da ba dee da ba daa!

#ooc dont be a douche this is clearly off camera.

Diary of A Madman
--------

Always, the pessimist, that is what I am labeled as, but it is hard to blame me. When I came into this sport I would read reports, website reviews, and magazines that would constant belittle me and put me down. To this day I can still quote them.

“Jackson Magnum’s explosiveness is basically non-existence for someone of his size.He also lacks even the most basic of technical wrestling abilities, it takes to make it in professional wrestling. He struggles against physical opponents, against highly technical opponents, and only seems to have a chance when in matches with other wrestler in the ring with him is as green as he is. While he is a good striker, he needs to develop as a wrestler to even keep his job in HKW. His naive mindset and lack of killer instinct will set him back. If you are looking for the next top star in HKW do not look at Jackson Magnum. He may have made it as a boxer but as a professional wrestler he will have little to no success.”

This was one of the many unflattering columns dedicated to my failures. The others would range from

“Jackson Magnum has all the technical skill of a lumbering Giant, who can barely apply a headlock, without the strength and power of one.”

To,

“Jackson Magnum lack of ability makes him an embarrassment to the Magnum name.”

To my all time favorite,

“Jackson Magnum is so bad that any wrestler that loses to him should immediately retire.”

These comments aren’t the exception, they are the day to reality I live with. The comments can either break you, or drive you. What I did not plan on however was the overwhelming willingness of others to believe that these comments could break me. So, much so that without evidence, without even a memorial, or a funeral. That every last one of them would give up hope. Believe that I had killed myself, even without a spec of evidence. My so called friends, my so called allies, are the people that lied to me most. Now I am forced to open myself up to the reality that none of them ever cared, that they used me, and that they never believed in me. This is my reality, the words critics and enemies have said, have long been my motivation. No longer, it is the actions of those who claimed to love, but the second they got the opportunity to bury me, tried to do exactly that. Both figuratively and literally

[In the backstage area after her match the new ITV Champion Ashley Marie Chase is standing staring at her title when Tiffany Jay walks over to her. Tiffany gives her a hug]

TIFFANY JAY: “Congratulations on winning the ITV Ashley.”

AMC: “I stand here before you with a tear in my eye and tell you this is the biggest win of my Subversion Career! Finally I am a champion on Subversion!”

[Ashley keeps looking at her newly one title not wanting to take her eyes off her prize]

TIFFANY JAY: “Congrats again Ashley. However i must ask about the way you won that title tonight because that was just awesome and may i say jaw dropping”

Ashley laughs

AMC: “Well i used to work in a lab with these genetically engineered spiders and one day one of them escaped and bit me.”

Tiffany is not amused

TIFFANY JAY: “Ha Ha very funny! However i doubt you are Spider Woman even though what you did was truly spider like so how did you do that?”

Ashley puts her belt over her shoulder

AMC: “The circus. Now i did not run away to one but i did do some stuff at one. My father represented a circus so they let me and my sisters train for things like the high wire which is what i did. Never thought that stuff would ever help me win a title but boom here we are.”

TIFFANY JAY: “Now that you are the champion you will be the hunted. Are you ready for what comes next? What do you plan to do next?”

Ashley smiles

AMC: “I say bring it on! I have never backed down from a fight and i am not going to start now Tiffany. Anybody who wants a shot can have a shot but be warned i have no plans to give this belt up anytime soon!

As for what’s next? Whatever comes my way is fine. Lyza was a great champion and while things may have gotten heated i have total respect for her and consider her a friend and i know she has a rematch clause so anytime she wants her rematch she can have it. For everybody else it's like I said Just bring it cause THE CHAMP IS HERE and she isn’t going anywhere!

[Ashley raises her belt in the air before walking off]

Somewhere in the backstage area, the manager and agent of the members of Upper Echelon was spotted backstage with his hair slicked back and a black on black wardrobe. Capone listened to the person on the other end of the line, pacing around in a circle as he let out a relieving sigh.

CAPONE: I assume that means there aren’t any serious injuries? Well, other than the entire hard to breathe thing?

Capone stopped, listening to the person on the other end of the line. In the pit of his stomach, Capone knew that Divine Supremacy would lead to hospital visits, but after seeing what Emilio Vialpando and Felicity Banks both went through in their respective matches? Capone began to fear the worst.

CAPONE: So neither will be out of action for too long? Fantastic. Emilio has a match next week for the World Tag Team championships where he will become the first double champion in company history and Felicity is winning back the World championship the moment she gets clear---

Stopping, Capone peered over his shoulder after hearing footsteps head his way. The smirk on his visage began to turn into a scowl as he lowered his phone and slid it into the front pocket of his UE sweatshirt.

CAPONE: I’m sorry, but I am not currently accepting any new clients.

“Я не ищу менеджера.”

Tyberius King made his way up to Tony Capone, his hands in the pockets of his zip up with the letters “CCCP” emblazoned on the front. He had been speaking in Russian for most of the day that he forgot to reply in English. Either way, he knew it got his point across and that soon Capone would have to turn to face him.

CAPONE: What kind of Gibberish was tha--

Turning around, Capone came face to face with Tyberius King, the scowl covering his face turning into an insincere grin. The mastermind behind the Upper Echelon pulled a toothpick out from behind his ear, stuck it in his mouth and threw his arms out to his sides.

CAPONE: Well if it isn’t Mister Crowned Royalty. THE CURRENT KING OF HARD KNOX WRESTLING, correct?

Capone chuckled, amused by his own words but Tyberius was not laughing.

CAPONE: To what do I owe the pleasure of, Mr. King?

KING: Honestly man I wasn’t looking for you, I was looking for Fel but I’m going to assume she’s going to need to take some time to heal up. So you seem like the next best option. See earlier tonight someone told me to take my shot. I let that sit with me and now here I am. I don’t care if she has the title or not, I’m coming after Fel next.

Surprised by King’s words, Capone pulled the toothpick out of his mouth and took one single step back. He looked to his left side and spotted stagehand passing the two gentlemen by and took a Russian branded bottle of water out of his grasp. Capone shooed the stagehand away, twisting open the cap to the water as he stared back at King.

CAPONE: You’re coming for Felicity next? Nice plan, I suppose. You get told to take your shot, and you shoot at one of the people who actually made this company. I have to admit - I do appreciate the initiative, but I have to ask…

Capone took a quick swig from his water bottle and swooshed around the contents in his mouth.

CAPONE: Is this truly what you want? You said it yourself...it took you six months before you won your first match here, and my client has eliminated more scum from this company than anyone in its history…

The UE manager shrugged his shoulders, sliding his hand through his slicked back hair afterward.

CAPONE: It’d be a shame if you were added to that list right after you pick up some momentum. Right after you have your footing. Right after you have proven that you deserve the money that was given to you on your contract. I’m not one who usually tells people to back off because every single one of my clients would gladly face anyone, but with you?

Capone twisted the cap back onto the water bottle and flung it over his head, nearly connecting with another stagehands head.

CAPONE: You’ve been through enough dismay since you’re arrival. I would hate to see a potentially great HKW career go down the drain the second it started to begin…

King stayed stoic as he just stared at Capone before responding.

KING: This shouldn’t be a surprise. I’ve been saying since the moment I stepped through the door that I would be coming for Fel. I bid my time and I’ve waited.

Ty stood tall and strong as he kept eye contact with Capone.

KING: Six months was a long time to wait to get that win but I learned more about myself in those six months than most people learn in a lifetime. Plenty of people probably would have just quit or moved on saying that this must not be their place. I was fighting more than just opponents since I came here. I was fighting myself too. Now that’s over. I’ve got my confidence back and I’m picking up where I left off right before I lost the mask. In two months I went from being the kid who lost a few steps to being tossed back into the talk of being one of the top talents in the business.

Ty took a breath. As he looked into his eyes he almost felt like Capone wasn’t taking him seriously as if this was something he could just laugh off as he walked out of the building and never thought about it again. That put a fire under Ty that he needed.

KING: But you are right Mr. Capone you usually don’t shy away when people come after your clients. Especially considering Fel and I’s history. She’s 2-0 against me in tag matches. So that makes me start to wonder why you would give me a warning. Are you generally concerned about my well being? Or is this just a product of the situation? Felicity right now is the queen who just lost her crown and I’m the young king who keeps rising. So which is it Tony, are you worried about me or are you worried that I know I can handle Fel now?

Ty let out a small smirk as he looked him right in the eyes. He shifted his stance and put some weight on his back foot as he stood there and waited for a response.

CAPONE: Typical…

Capone scoffed.

CAPONE: How mighty of you to wait until you believe the supposed queen has fallen to strike. You’re not a king, Ty. You’re merely a pawn who could only take two steps forward before someone comes in and knocks him off the board.

Capone popped his toothpick back into his mouth and nodded his head.

CAPONE: I’ll make sure to pass on your message.

Shooting the Crowned Royalty winner a wink, Capone proceeded to head down the hall and away from King. Ty, on the other hand, wasn’t done as he showed emotion for the first real time in their conversation.

KING: Hey Tony!

Capone turned his head to look. There was a tinge of anger on Ty’s face as he continued to find a way to keep his composure.

KING: Waiting for Fel to fall isn’t a smart move. In fact, this might be the worst time to come looking for a fight from her. You should know better than me there isn’t going to be a more pissed off person on the planet who is going to want to prove that she is still the best. Losses can make us more determined than wins and I’m sure Fel will be more determined now than ever. That’s the Fel I want to face.

Capone didn’t seem to care much about what Ty called to him for, but just as he was ready to turn his head back Ty spoke one more time.

KING: And I’m the one who gets to say checkmate.

Capone let out a “hmph” and gave Ty a dirty look before turning back and continuing down the hall.
