WRESTLER

CHARACTER HISTORY
Born Myron Napaeae, Leander Apollo started first taking MMA/self-defense lessons at the “House of the East Side” dojo in Flint, Michigan at age fifteen along with his older sister Ayla – it was there where Leo met Robert “The Mountain” Porter and where Ayla met her eventual husband Chris Strike, both those men pro wrestlers under a company known as “GSB.” It was through watching the GSB that Leander began taking an interest in pro wrestling while still continuing his MMA training with Porter. Once graduated from high school, Leander trained for three months under Bryan Cade’s tutelage (thus meeting his daughter Vanessa at the time and beginning a rivalry between the two), before returning Stateside and attending Penn State University. But it was during his junior year of college that he took a major step in the continuation of his career path, as he left for Tampa Bay, Florida instead of doing summer classes, where Chris Strike’s best friend of many years Lyn Dallins agreed to train him. Within that summer, Dallins made a rough around the edges MMA trained kid into a solid striker with a basis in proper technical wrestler with some extra nasty submissions to resort to in case the first two didn’t work out. Once his junior year was finished, Lyn used his connections in Europe to get Leander some work in Germany during the summer of 2009 – and it was there where Leo stayed for an entire year, finished his schooling and met Andreas Lasiewicz, who mentored him and in turn, helped mold him into a man who went undefeated for more than two years in singles competition.

But it was at the Extreme Tournament of 2011 that Leander began making a name for himself on the world stage, emerging from unknown to star by winning his way through preliminaries and into the knockout stages. However, that was only the starting point of Leander’s journey – as he shortly made his way into companies such as SVW and TFWF as a competitor, his biggest accomplishment being a 368-day long reign as TFWF World Tag Team champion alongside Jason Proctor – the second longest in the company’s eighteen year plus history. He eventually also found work with Code Red Wrestling, where he faced off against some more big names of the professional wrestling scene at the time and eventually won the CRW Primetime title before this company, too, had to close its doors.

Apollo’s next stop was perhaps one of the most pivotal of his career, as he found himself signed by Platinum Dynasty Wrestling, where he eventually got an opportunity and captured the PDW Cyber title, a championship that he would hold and defend until being defeated by Zero McHannon in a unification match for his belt and the Bloodshed title at Reckless Endangerment III. Once recovered from an injury shortly at the hands of Brett Sands, Leander received an offer from mega-Japanese company “Apollon Media” to be one of its new representatives, sponsored in full as a duo attraction alongside Vanessa Cade, who had been a part of that conglomerate for nearly a year. Now, having gone from being the “Red Comet” to the “Golden Comet” to better coordinate with his own partner, the tandem with the name of “Generation of Miracles” bestowed upon them by their company has come together and begun to make some waves around different company’s shows in Japan. It wasn’t long until EXODUS Pro took notice during their Japan tour…and it wasn’t long until Leander Apollo and Vanessa Cade came into the scene, winning the EXODUS World Tag Team titles twice during their current stay and eventually setting their sights on SVW once again, daring to step into the company with very intent of conquering the tag team division the same way they have done in the past alongside a short stint in HKW to do the same with their tag team gold.

It was a long road to championship gold for Cade & Apollo and it included having to step away from HKW in order to focus on SVW, but together, the two finally broke the drought and won the SVW Tag Team Championships in early 2017...and with it, Leander Apollo also made a new goal for himself and that was to begin capturing singles gold as well - a means to prove he was every bit as good solo as he was in a team setting. HKW was on the radar again...but the actions of the Upper Echelon towards one of his best friends and fellow “Silver Eagle” in Jackie Fowler emphasized a far greater motive to jump back into the fray.

Championship glory could wait.

Family always comes first.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Full Name: Myron Leander Napaeae
Ring Name: Leander Apollo
Nickname: “The Red Comet”
Date of birth: August 21, 1987 (30 years old)
Height: Six-feet (6’)
Weight: Two hundred and ten pounds (210 lbs)
Hometown: New York City, New York
Born In: Columbus, Ohio
Ethnicity: Greek/Italian descendancy, Caucasian in terms of skin color
Alignment: 8
Wrestling Gimmick: Wrestling Savant - takes care of his business in the ring, not overly flashy about it, tries to keep it to that...it just so happens most everybody else likes to make it personal.
Character Personality: Surprisingly laid back, mostly easy-going and he tries to get along with most of the people around him for the sake of an easygoing life...but he’s not one to just let people walk over him or his philosophies - can get rather confrontational if his buttons are pushed too much. Not to mention, he tends to side-eye and judge anyone who tends to break the rules/take shortcuts to get what they want, regardless of their reasoning.
Wrestling Style: Technical/Submission
Years Pro: 8 years
Previous and Current Employers: SVW (Former), PDW (Closed), CRW (Closed), TFWF (Closed)
Twitter Handle: @RedCometApollo
Strengths:
1. Technical Wrestling – be it chain wrestling, mat, counters, submissions, any and all aspects of technical wrestling are something that Leander Apollo has diligently worked on over and over again in his young career – in short, he has gradually begun to make his case to be considered as one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. His experience over the last five years and worldwide exposure in multiple companies over the last seven years have provided him a platform to make his case.
2. MMA Background – before training as a pro wrestler, Apollo was being molded into a MMA fighter, so he definitely knows his way around fierce strikes, such as elbows and knees in the Muay Thai style and can pull out some nasty submissions right out of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu playbook.
3. Tag Team Wrestling – over the years and after holding multiple tag team championships (plus the longevity of said reigns), Leander Apollo has become rather good at this tag team deal, knowing the in-and-out nuances, being able to adapt and play to the strengths of his tag team partners in order to elevate the tandem further and his experience combined with his success has made him one of the premiere tag team wrestlers in the world.
Weaknesses:
1. Speed – given his wrestling style, Apollo prefers to keep things grounded. High fliers, especially ones who know what they’re doing, can definitely create a problem for Apollo – unfortunately, it seems most high-fliers are also cursed with being absolute show-offs or spot monkeys, which both annoys Leander and gives him a window of opportunity to jump in and dictate the match again.
2. Stipulation Matches – while Apollo may have been around for a few years in the wrestling scene, he has not had much experience with stipulation bouts – be it hardcore matches, street fights, table matches, whatever the case may be. Thus, there’s quite a little bit of inexperience on Apollo’s end that some wily veterans or people not keen on playing by the rules can utilize to their advantage and that can fire back against Apollo. While he has gained experience on this matter during the last few years, it’s still not his strongest suit.
3. Determination – while Leo is known for having a second wind at times of need, it is a double-edged sword in the fact that he will push himself far enough to where emotions and adrenaline and everything else can cause a mistake that can lead to his defeat.

ENTRANCE DETAILS
Entrance Music: “Raise Your Flag” by MAN WITH A MISSION

Normal Entrance Description:

Multiple colored lights begin to swirl all over the arena, a violin’s melody playing across the PA system while the Tron begins to show eerie yet beautiful images of space as the song builds, it showcases the night sky on the water’s reflection, as a foot suddenly enters the frame and steps into the water, as it ripples and turns red, the entrance ramp beginning to be covered in smoke...

“RAISE YOUR FLAAAAAAG!
KOE NO KAGIRI, KOE NO KAGIRI, KOE NO KAGIRI SAKENDE!
IKI NO KAGIRI, TSUZUKU KAGIRI, YUME O MITSUZUKE SAMAYOU...”

As flashes of Leander Apollo hitting moves and applying holds on his opponents is shown, Apollo emerges from the entrance and through the smoke, a focused look on his face as he cracks his knuckles while walking down the ramp and moving towards the ring, soaking in the crowd’s cheers although never letting his focus break away from the ring as he steps up to the apron through the steel steps and enters the squared circle through the middle rope.

Whisper Viperi: (Introducing first/And the opponent)…from Columbus, Ohio, weighing in at a two hundred and two pounds…HE IS THE “RED COMET,” LEANDEEEEEEEER…APOLLOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

As the chorus to “Raise Your Flag” by MAN WITH A MISSION begins again, the lights frantically begin to move with the beat of the song as Leander absorbs the roar of the crowd, moving to the center of the ring and taking a knee as he pounds the mat and lifts his arms up in the air, fists clenched while yelling out, hyping himself up for another round of cheers from the HKW fans before making his way over to the ropes, putting his arms across them and leaning back as if to stretch out, ready for what’s ahead of him.
