![]() ![]() If you're new to Camp Half-Blood roleplay or a returning member, welcome (back) to Camp Half-Blood! This post is going to be about some frequently asked questions we've encountered to help make your experience better at Camp Half-Blood! Also know that if you're ever stuck on something, feel free to ask any moderator or administrator within the roleplay. They are marked on this forum as Moderators and Admins. We're here to help any user. What is Camp Half-Blood? If you don't know what Camp Half-Blood is, it is a location in a book series by the author Rick Riordan, named under the titles Percy Jackson. It follows Percy, who is a son of the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. Camp Half-Blood is a training facility for those who are demigods (half god, half human), children of the Greek gods. The camp is run and operated by Dionysus, the god of Wine, Celebration, and Madness. He is often referred to as "Mr. D" by people within the camp. The camp is located in Long Island, New York, USA. The camp is considered to be the only safe place for demigods, and is disguised as a strawberry farm, named after the oracle, Delphi. The camp houses cabins, each designated by a god, where their children sleeps, along with areas to eat, play, train athletically and educationally, and socialize. While in the books the camp is equipped with defenses provided by the gods, this roleplay features a camp in an alternative timeline where Percy never existed, and defenses were never laid on the camp. Do I need to know about the stories' lore to join? No, you don't! There are some users who simply join because they have a strong liking for Greek mythology, and that's okay. You aren't required to know about the lore to join, and even then, not everyone remembers every single piece of lore. The staff are here to help explain anything to people whenever they're confused. Basic information that you can run on is this: you're a demigod, child of a certain Greek god, and now you live in this camp. This is where you will learn, train, and become a better demigod, making friends along the way! What is The Big Three? The Big Three is a collective term for the three strongest gods in Olympus:
What are the Regular and Lesser gods? Regular and Lesser gods are gods that are not part of The Big Three. Even though they are not a part of The Big Three, these gods and their children should not be underestimated. They can be just as strong and determined as Big Three children, if they put their mind to it. Regular gods are considered as gods most people know about within Greek Mythology. Lesser gods are considered to be the less popular gods, but still as great as the other gods. These are Regular Gods:
These are Lesser Gods:
Where does my character live in the camp? Each God and Goddess has a cabin within the roleplay for the children to stay in. The cabins are decorated inside and out to fit the trait and style of the Gods/Goddess. Feel free to explore and see the cabins for all the children, along with your own! Each cabin has a roster, which is posted on this forum. The Big Three each hold four people, Regular Gods and Lesser Gods each hold seven people. If slots are full for a godly parent, please pick another one until a slot opens for you. This helps spread people out and have a more diverse community. Each cabin will have a Head that leads the cabins. This is an authority figure and they need to be treated with respect. The Heads of Cabins are voted upon In Character, usually on the first Friday after the roleplay opens. Head of Cabin voting takes place in the Dining Pavilion. If another vote is created for Head of Cabin, it will be posted about on the forums. Where do I stay if my parent does not have a cabin? We have made cabins for every single God and Goddess listed in our roleplay. It may be some trouble finding your cabin, but check the map or ask a staff member to help you! The only people without a cabin are those who are unclaimed, and they will stay in the Big House or in the Hermes cabin. Am I required to wear a uniform? Yes, children residing within the camp are required to wear an orange shirt as their uniform, and can be any kind of shirt, such as a tanktop, t-shirt, strap shirt, hoodie, or jacket. This must be worn In Character, but any other clothing may be worn, as long as the orange shirt is worn. The shade of orange used on the shirts is found here. What are abilities, and what can I do with them? Abilities are godly-given strengths that are you are born with, depending on your parent. For example, children of the God Apollo can use singing and music to heal wounds on themselves or on others. Once you have your parent chosen, it's now time to decide the abilities you wish your character to have. Your character is allowed to have two abilities from the list, and all Passive abilities from the list. If your Godly Parent has a rare ability listed and there is a spot open, you may apply for it in the Applications section of the forums. Once you are approved to have the rare ability, you may list it in your bio. But remember, if you have a rare ability, you can only have one other non-passive ability with that. A rare ability is not added as a third ability. What activities are held in the camp? Our camp holds several activities such as Capture the Flag, Combat Training, Arts & Crafts, First Aid, and more. All events will be held in Eastern Standard time, in certain parts of the camp. If you are in a time zone that is not Eastern Standard time, you can use the clock at the top right of the forum, as it is in Eastern Standard time. Any camper is welcome to host an event, then make a post on the forums once they finished, of who attended and what happened. There will also be classes hosted to help you progress up the ladder and make your character stronger. Classes will cover topics such as First Aid, Your Godly Parent and You, About the Camp, Combat 101, and more! Classes will be held and hosted by a staff-picked list of people. What are Quests and Storyline Events? Quests are events hosted by staff, which will be held in Eastern Standard time. If you are in a time zone that is not Eastern Standard time, you can use the clock at the top right of the forum, as it is in Eastern Standard time. These differ from activities because they are set and planned events hosted by staff and often involving finding a certain object or being, investigating, and more. Check forums often to find out about upcoming quests and events planned by staff. Forums will be updated with storyline posts to keep users updated, most likely in the In Character section. How do I progress in this roleplay? To progress from freshman to sophomore, then junior to senior, you need to attend classes. Once you have started classes, staff will create you a Progression Sheet [you cannot make your own, as people have been untruthful on their own] that shows what classes you have and have not taken. Once you fill up a Progression Sheet for your level, you will progress to the next one. Classes include things like Combat, First Aid, Botany, and more. Progression Sheets are kept in the OOC Information section, under the subforum Progression Sheets. Your sheet will be kept there, and will be labeled with your character name, designated color for your Godly Parent, and your Boon username. If you have any questions about Progression Sheets, wish to become a teacher, or wish to become a student-teacher, please send a PM to an admin or moderator. Helpful Links
