The forums are up, and our biggest change is that we finally figured out what the HS stood for in HSCommunity. They mean- I'll get to that later. I mean that this time.

Back before R1LL left, we changed the forums from HaloSpritesForums to HSCommunity. In this change, we identified that the activity was dying down because we were for the most part, all moving away from Halo and Sprites. We also realized that not every member could be on every second of the day, and even when they were able to get on the website, that not everyone has content to post. So, we realized we needed to get new members. But that prompted the question: What kind of members do we want to attract? Obviously, we don't want sprite theifs, but that didn't really matter too much, since there weren't really that many new sprites to steal.
To answer our new question though, we had to look back at the board and see where our growth happened, and in what direction we wanted it to go. We could see that not everyone was super excited about halo anymore- infact the general consensus is that the franchise faces some... challenges ahead in the fanbase. We could also see that spriting is not as popular and as common with the community as it once was, or was expected to be.We also did not want to attract the wrong kind of members either.
We realized that we had several people who post different kinds of content. So, we were mostly reorganized to projects. We had our one-man-teams to our larger group projects, but those too fizzled out and died or were completed without too much notice. We didn't have the member-fanbase for our projects. So what do we have now that the projects are dying?
We still have content creators. Most, you'll recognize as staff, with Cass' Monopoly and Sparkie with his numerous projects, as well as the few members who still sprite and post sprite-comics. However, we have a feeling that the rest of you do something else as well. You're all people. And as such, people like to discuss things. So, we've reorganized and freed up the board with some changes in the wording of rules so that most of the board functions as the shoutbox does. Have conversations in topics, make new topics, bump "old" topics (as long as they're on the first page and/or a month old). Discuss things. Talk. Be a community. Because, when we look back at it, that's what we've been for several years. We're not too huge on sprites or halo anymore. So, that's why we've changed. We're trying to attract some new members, those who are interested in content by members of a community, and being a part of a community in and of itself.

So, what does the HS in HSCommunity stand for now, if we do not have as much halo or sprites as we once did? That's a great question!
Actually, it stands for Hortor Sodalitas Community. Translated from Latin that means roughly "a community in which fellowship and camaraderie are encouraged".

We're more officially embracing the community part around here, but if you look back, we always have been a community. So, feel free to post pretty much anything. Still like Halo? Talk about it in Game Talk. Still like sprites? Talk about them in Image Expo. Like something else? Find the appropriate forum and talk about it.

We're open for business, and we're open to pretty much anything.

So I take it that everything in the Sprite Warehouse is now in the Image Expo?

Also, does this mean the ten post wall has fallen?

I'm sorry, but I do not recall...

For the most part, the site is now accessible to anyone that has an account. Some projects, including ones who were run by members who are no longer here OR were previously behind the wall and did not give consent- are still behind the wall. But, pretty much everything is available to those who have an account now.

Hello Darkness My Old Friend

Okay, just a small tidbit of info.

As of the last time I checked the topic regarding default skin, which was on Monday of this week (July 21st, 2014). Blu Warp held the majority of votes. As to the agreement between Mik and myself, the winning skin was to be made the default theme. Therefore, Blu Warp is now the default for HSC.

Now, this shouldn't mess with your settings on what skin you've chosen, this is merely regarding the default. If anyone has issues, please let me or another staff member know.

Thanks.

-Cass.
