Well, Ive wanted to make a topic like this for a while now, and no better time than the present eh? Anyways, as i said in my welcome topic: I do amatuer weight training/bodybuilding as a hobby and am really enjoy it, and get great results. I'd show pics but this aint the sort of place for 20 year old guy to show shirtless pics i go to /fit/ for that. the thing ive noticed is that dun dun dun Ive become fitter eg: 5months ago i couldn't do 2 press ups in a row, now i can do at least fifteen a set with nose touching the ground and everything! or once i could do a crunch now i do atleast ten a set. I doubt i'd be able to give you how much i can life because my sportscentre/gym only has dumbells and the only go up to about 50lbs maximum. now onto you guys i'm quite interested if any of you have a physical hobby or sport you enjoy i'd give you my noob experience on exercises workouts or place i go for workout tiips and such. thoughts? |

I play tennis for school, and used to be in marching band. To keep fit though, I have a Boflex home gym and an elliptical for endurance training. I wish I had a stair-climber instead of an elliptical, but oh well. I haven't actually been able to use the boflex in a few months, due to my parents just throwing their junk in our garage, and consequentially on top of the boflex. All I've been able to do lately because of that is play tennis and work with my 12 lbs. dumbells. Hopefully this summer, someone will help me clean out the garage cause the 'rents don't like it when I just throw their stuff away. Then I'll be able to get back into the swing of things and rebuild my upper body. |

I go swimming every friday for an hour, and for about an hour a day Monday to Wednesday I'm at the gym, whilst Thurdays and Fridays it's around four hours in the Gym. I've got an overactive metabolism so I'ts hard for me to actually build muscle, since my body eats protein and shit up, but hey, I'm slowly but surely building up. |

I have the same problem. A few years back, I layed around for an entire month, no physical activity, and nothing but junk-food. I still lost weight. >.> Do you swim at an indoor location? |

Jeez, I did that too. Well, I mostly lost about 5lbs of muscle, but still. Most of my physical activity is in that I often prefer to run, not walk places. And also practicing strikes. EDIT: By run, not walk, I mean like, short distances, not like actually traveling place to place, so much as within my own home.

Me? I walk almost everywhere. I don't drive unless I have to. I do amateur parkour or freerunning. I jog two hours a week around the local park and occasionally: I ride a bike around the area and head to the gym. I however do not gain muscle, just a lot of endurance. I have a really high metabolism too, so I actually do eat mostly junk food and I still don't gain weight. I used to do swimming but the waterpark(the only close pool) isn't open till summer. But if I had to suggest doing something really active it would be freerunning. However it is dangerous I'd suggest any person who is willing to do it be really fit, have a good sense of balance, have good stamina and above all else have health insurance. Seriously, you don't want to jump off a twenty foot object, miss your target and break something only to find out you have no Health Insurance. But other than that freerunning has running, jumping, vaulting, climbing, leaping, and rolling. An hour of freerunning is a great workout. |

Frozen over river... No, not really. Yeah, I swim in an indoor pool. I'd prefer the water cold, but sadly it's always boiling in that damned pool. |

The feeling of swimming in urine must not be pleasant. |

I'd love to have a controlled-temperature pool. We have and in-ground here at my house, and any the city and state-park pools are also in-ground. The weather's almost warm enough to put the pool above 70F, so I'll start swimming again soon. |
