"Your life defines you, but you define your legacy."

Ok so ive been having a sort of crappy week so far, but this latest thing kind of takes the cake... So im working on my programming assignment last night. Its about 10pm and the thing is due at midnight, but luckily ive got pretty much the whole thing codes and just need to go through and fix all of my bugs and errors. I come across one where I know exactly what's wrong, but im not entirely sure how to fix it. So, I open up Firefox to look it up and before my home page even manages to load, my computer shuts itself down for no reason. Im not too concerned because I had just saved all of my stuff, so its not like I had lost anything. So, I turn the damn thing back on, open up my code, and click on Firefox again, and what do you know, my computer shuts down a second time. So I think to myself "thats strange, I guess I'll just use internet explorer to look this thing up since it seems to crash only when I open Firefox". So I press the power button, see the "HP" logo, then the screen turns black for a second like its about to switch to the startup screen... But instead the HP logo shows up again. This process repeats several times, and my computer never actually starts up.

I tried a ton of things, from system restore, to taking out the battery, to punching the damn thing, but nothing changed. I look up these symptoms on my phone and keep seeing everywhere that its an issue with the motherboard or something, and that it would be an expensive, nom-permanent fix and that im better off just buying a new laptop. I tried calling HP support, but apparently you have to pay to get their tech support, which is retarded so I decoded against it.

just so you guys know, I ended up using a friends computer to attempt to fix some of my program, but I had already wasted too much time and things weren't working right, so I had to turn in a program that didnt work at all. I talked to my professor and he said he couldn't give any extensions, but would try to consider my situation when he was grading it. Oh well.

But anyways, the main issue is that I now find myself without a computer. Im typing this from my phone right now, but its not exactly easy to browse the forums on this thing. So I just want to let you guys know that I'll be sort of inactive for the next few days until I get a new laptop. Not sure when thats gonna be, hopefully ASAP.

So yeah, basically everything sucks and the universe hates me.

...You didn't hit hard enough...

I'm not even going to give a smart arsed reply about "Ensuring your computer is operational" "Clear your caches to avoid crashes" "Have a back up laptop or something" or some other bullshit that tends to flow from the maws of techies, who reply to similar topics like this on other forums I browse... Honestly, shitty luck, but there ain't nothing much that can be done about it really... Besides planting some low grade explosives on the computer that betrayed you and then blowing it to kingdon-come; like I would/have done...

Yeah this was just extremely bad timing and even worse luck. Im aware there were things I could've done to prevent this, but I had absolutely no way of knowing that I would need to do so. So thanks for sparing me the lecture. And rest assured, as soon as I get my files onto my new computer, this one is going to receive one hell of a punishment.

And so do I, choco, although I highly doubt that I'll get anything above a 20, and thats being optimistic...

On a scale of 1 to fucked, how major was this assignment?

It was our first programming assignment. My last class had 4, so its 1/4 of that grade. I also have homeworks to give me a slight boost, but it looks like its gonna rest mostly on my mid term and final(s). Also any extra credit I can rack up.

Like I always say, I can STILL do this!!!

Also, the "scale of one to [word]" thing is my line. Don't be stealing my lines bro!

edit: How the hell did you put color in your member title??? I didn't even know that was possible.

I didn't put it there. That's the scary part.

I did.

Hey, I've used that line in conversation quite often and I probably just jacked it from some show I watched years ago.

Lol I i was just kidding about that. I actually picked it up from one of my friends, and every time I say it to other people they dont seem to have ever heard of it, so I figured he made it up. But nowadays, making up a phrase is practically impossible, someone has always already done it before you. Although I still maintain that I invented the phrase "you're lagging like a monkey"!!! I swear!!!

Oh and good news guys, I ordered my new laptop last night and got a confirmation email earlier today saying that I would receive it on Monday. Wish it could've been sooner, but oh well.
