I play this game more than any other at the moment. WAY more than any other. I know Choco plays on occasion as well. I thought maybe some of you would want to try it. If we got 10 people playing we could even do community play dates on League. It's a game in an rising genre or MOBA games or Multiplayer online battle arena games. It's a genre that takes some getting used to. I figure some of you probably already know of this game BUT IF YOU DON'T YOU MIGHT JUST WANT TO USE THIS LINK TO JOIN AND GET TO LEVEL FIVE http://signup.leagueoflegends.com/?ref=4e83dfc74481f981574555 NOT THAT I GET FREE SHIT FOR YOU DOING THAT OR ANYTHING.

Just to help entice you into playing this game I will post some real in game footage E3 style.

Nah here is some actual game play.

P.S. If you do make an account add Planet Lock Down and I'll help you out. It's a game that is hard to understand by yourself if it's your first MOBA.

This thing and its genre are both pretty old, right?
I wonder how much SMNC and DOTA2 have to do with the genre's sudden popularity.

Well the original Dota was a Warcraft 3 mod and that was the very first MOBA. It's still the most downloaded mod of all time I think. League of Legends predates both Dota 2 and SMNC. Currently league of legends if the most played game on Earth by monthly hours. It's overtaken Starcraft 2 in Korea. Riot games just hosted the biggest tournament in E-sports history with an overall prize pool of 5 Mill.

LOOK AT THESE NUMBUAS

doesn't mean LoL is good as an E-sport it's only successful right now because of the huge prize pools. Riot are owned by a massive chinease company which have more money than sense and are poring money into the LoL E-sport scene but the tournaments are an abysmal.

Look at the case of mini-map cheating, players were put outside in an unprotected area with massive mini-maps above their heads, with all this money they don't even bother to get sound protected booths like MLG do with SC2.

Not to mention LoL is a bad spectator sport, as someone who has played three games of LoL I have no idea what is going on, however after reading other peoples accounts such as Totalbiscuit and Day[9] (Professional shoutcasters) as well as players of LoL is that is boring to watch the only exciting this is the occasional kill the rest in farming creeps which makes for bad viewing.
Starcraft 2 isn't popular because of all the money going into it, but because you don't have to know the game inside out, two easily identifiable teams in different colours are going against each other in a tug of war style, it's easy to tell when a side is winning as they are in the opposing colours base or a colour is losing a lot of buildings/units. Stuff in also constantly going on all game not just the late game, this makes shout casting much easier and in turn easier for the spectator.

LoL as an E-sport game isn't moving outside people who play it and as soon as Riot stop pumping money into it it will die, however I have friends who have never played Starcraft 2 but enjoy watching it as they can understand what's going on.

NOOOO SMNC DON'T DIE I LOVE YOU PLEEEEASE UBER GET MORE PLAYERS IN THE GAME!

Did you watch the world finals? The farming meta is dying. Riots constantly pushing the game to more aggressive play. That was one of the original intentions in redesigning process. The Asian teams making this most apparent. The North Americans got buttfucked the first time they played against Korean teams. The Korean meta is all about making things happen. Taking towers as soon as possible. Getting first blood. Taking objectives causing teamfights earlier.

People make league sound like it's so hard to understand what is happening. It's really a simple game when you break it down. It's like Magic the Gathering. It's a super simple concept. What makes it complex is the shier number of cards. It's boring to watch if you don't understand the concept but once you understand it it's incredibly fun to watch. You also realize star craft being overtaken by a game that is only sustained by "people who play it" sorta says something.

The game takes people in more than star craft does. Any game that hosts 12 million daily active players is obviously doing something right. This game holds you in after is grasps you. Any game that creates a player base then holds it doesn't need much else but a player base to sustain it.

BTW, I quit playign League. The solo queue wasn't worth the frustration that MOBA games bring, if I had a team of 3 or 4 others I could maybe get back into it.

I do still watch things on League and very much love it, the community just completely threw me off the entire genre though. DOTA2's community isn't much better. : /

Well I will entirely admit that the MOBA community is worse that any other gaming community. It's just true. For some reason playing a MOBA gives everyone a huge ego. So many raging people. It's a game you definitely want to play with friends. One of the reasons I want to get more friends into the game xD

Turns out when you pit a free to play game against a full £50 release you are going to have a big difference in player base, players are joining LoL teams and KESPA are focusing attention on it because riot keep putting these huge prize pools on it. I'm not saying LoL is a bad game it's just a bad spectator game there for it's not going to be successful E-sport once riot stop putting money into it.

As regards to the community I'm pretty sure it's because it's built into DOTA games, having one rubbish person on your team hinders your team to the point where you can loose and no one will admit to being crap therefore everyone starts pointing fingers and it all kicks off from there.
