Scene: The Harper Mansion's formal gardens. This beautiful location is the place where Michael and Wendy Harper will have their family wedding. Although they are already married (due to them eloping), they decided to have a family wedding with a select amount of friends to witness it. Everyone is coming to the nuptuals. BRYAN: What are you thinking about, Nyssa? ANYSSA: About how Susie is. I still worry about her. BRYAN: I know, sweetheart, and I know you are upset about what has been going on with her. ANYSSA: I just wish she and Patrick would find happiness, the way we have. BRYAN: I am sure they will, darling. Here comes Aunt India. (enter India) INDIA: Morning, darlings. Isn't it a LOVELY morning for a wedding? BRYAN: It is indeed. ANYSSA: Yes, it really is, Aunt India. Is everything ready? INDIA: Yes, we are in need of another bridesmaid. ANYSSA: Who is doing that now? INDIA: Well, Vivienne is matron of honor; Amy Smythe and Jacqueline Haller have signed on. But we're in need of one more. BRYAN: This will be good for you. ANYSSA: I will do that, then. INDIA: Thanks, Nyssa. Come with me. (Anyssa goes down to the guest house which is used for the wedding party.) BRYAN: Thanks, India. INDIA: Anytime, honey. (India bustles off to get Anyssa ready) (Cut to: Sheila and Hannah, both watching Maggie.) SHEILA: How has she been sleeping? HANNAH: She's been sleeping through the night pretty well. The nurse comes in and checks on her frequently. SHEILA: That is good. How do you think she will be at the wedding? HANNAH: I had the nanny come to watch her. SHEILA: I am glad that worked out for you. HANNAH: I think so too. Craig is also helping out. (Pan to Craig, who is nearby the girls, who is holding Maggie's favorite doll. Maggie is giggling.) SHEILA (smiling): He's taken to her pretty well, hasn't she? HANNAH: That he has. Steven also dotes on his niece too. SHEILA: Has her paternal grandparents thought of visiting? HANNAH: Yeah, I talked with Neville and Elspeth. They aren't upset about what happened with Nigel and me. They ARE still angry with Erica, however, but I told them about the changes she's made. They are trying to be sympathetic, and they want to come and see Maggie. SHEILA: I think that will be wonderful. Maggie has us, of course, and she should also have her paternal grandparents see her too. HANNAH: They are coming for Christmas. I talked with them, and Steven is arranging to have them come and stay at the Atchley mansion to see their granddaughter. SHEILA: I can't wait to see them. (Hannah and Sheila smile and watch Craig giving Maggie her dolly.) (Cut to: Guest House, where Dylan and Alex are helping Michael get ready.) MICHAEL: I can't believe I am getting nervous. I was more calm when Wendy and I eloped. DYLAN: I understand, Dad. When you and Wendy eloped, it was just you two. ALEX: Dad, you have to hold still, I have to do your tie. MICHAEL: I am sorry, guys, your old Dad has cold feet. DYLAN (smiling): You don't have to apologize to us, Dad. We're here for you. This is yours and Wendy's day. (Enter Jason and Aaron) JASON: Still nervous, bro? MICHAEL: That obvious, eh? AARON: You could never fool us, big brother. JASON: Did they ever find a new bridesmaid? DYLAN: Aunt India told me that Anyssa is filling that role. MICHAEL: I wonder how nervous Wendy is? AARON: Probably more than you are. (Cut to: another room in the guest house, where Wendy is getting ready.) SAMANTHA: The dress is exquisite. VERONICA: Yes, Sheila, Christina and Cynthia did a wonderful job on it. ERICA: You look enchanting, Wendy. WENDY: I am petrified. MICHELLE: You and Michael eloped, and that takes bravery, now, you can use that same bravery in front of us. WENDY: I don't even have anyone to walk me down the aisle. MAUREEN: Don't worry about it, Wendy, I have that one taken care of. SAMANTHA: Who? MAUREEN (winking): You will see. ERICA: Curiouser and curiouser. (The women laugh, lessening the tension and helps Wendy relax) WENDY: I needed that. VERONICA: We all did, dear. And by the way, welcome to the family. WENDY: Thank you, Veronica. MAUREEN: And NOW, the man who will escort you down the aisle! (Enter: Maureen's stepdad, Alex and Dylan's grandfather, David Corwin, played by Monty Hall, as he had on the original HF) DAVID: Wendy, you look magnificent. WENDY: Thank you, Mr. Corwin for offering to walk me down the aisle. DAVID: My own daughter, Susan is grown up, and it is an honor that Maureen and Susan asked me to do this. VERONICA: Where is Lynne? DAVID: She's here. She is upstairs with the others. She's with Hannah's daughter. WENDY: I am ready for this to happen now. DAVID: May I? WENDY: I would be honored. (Wendy, on David's arm, is on their way out of the room. Michelle, Veronica, Erica and Maureen go to the garden to get their seats.) (Cut to: Velda getting the party ready) VELDA: Are you ready, darling? DYLAN: I am indeed. ALEX: We all are. VELDA: Dylan is best man; Alex; Cliff and Mark Atkinson are groomsmen. This should be fine. Where are the matron of honor and the bridesmaids? (Enter Vivienne) VIVIENNE: We're here. VELDA: Fine. All right, everyone, line up. (Everyone lines up.) AMY: I hope we can do all right. VELDA: You will, love. All right. Amy, you and Mark go first; then Cliff and Anyssa; then Alex and Jacqueline, followed by Dylan and Vivienne. And then Michael will come first; then of course, Wendy. Did ANYONE find out who is walking her down the aisle? VIVIENNE: Maureen called in her stepfather to walk her down. VELDA: That is wonderful. I was wondering why Lynne was here. VIVIENNE: I guess, that is why. I don't know about you, but I am ready for a wedding. VELDA: And so am I. Ready? (Velda has them all walk down to the back of the garden.) (Voice of Rowena Wallace: "Harpers Falls will continue in a moment, here on ONtv") Scene: The garden of the Harper mansion. Everyone is seated and ready for the wedding. Lynne Whitehead is sitting with Hannah; Craig and Sheila while she is holding baby Maggie, who is asleep. Jason and his wife, Sandra are sitting with their twin daughters, Jennifer and Violet. Vanessa Harper is sitting with her best friend, Joliette Manning, who was also invited. Veronica is sitting with Samantha, Audra and Shawn; Velda is sitting with Bryan; Jane Whittier and Liane Atkinson is sitting with Christina Burkhardt and Cynthia Archer; Victoria Jensen is sitting with Nicholas and Taylor, who is holding baby Nicky. Shane Owens is sitting with his cousin, Eric Whitfield, who will soon be adopted into the Harper family. Astrid is sitting beside Erica, who is bursting with pride. Patricia, Caitlin and Roger are sitting at the front of the garden, along with Michelle. The entire family is in attendance. Strains of Jesu: Joy of Man's Desiring, played by Scarlett, who plays a wonderful piano, begin as the wedding party come down the aisle. First come Amy Smythe and Mark Atkinson; followed by Anyssa and Cliff Atkinson; then Jacqueline Haller and Alex; and then the matron of honor, Vivienne and best man Dylan. Followed by Michael. Michael hugs his son, and his son's spouse, as they stand and wait for the bride. Scarlett begins to play the Wedding March. Everyone stands. To the strains of the Wedding march, Wendy comes in, on the arm of David Corwin. She looks lovely, as she is led down the aisle to where her husband is waiting for her. PASTOR: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join Michael Harper and Wendy Schraederman in matrimony. Who gives this woman to be wed? DAVID: I do. (Wendy hugs David, and he goes and sits next to Lynne) PASTOR: I realize that you are legally married, but you are doing this for the family. I respect you for that. MICHAEL (quipping): We couldn't wait. (The crowd laughs) PASTOR: Understandable. Will you two join hands? The couple have written their own vows. (Wendy and Michael join hands) WENDY: Michael, we met while you were in Pennsylvania, and even though we were apart for some time, we found our way back to one another. They say love finds a way, and believe me, darling, it did. I will make a wonderful wife for you. I will never take you for granted, and I will always be by your side. No matter what, until death finally separates the two of us, you and I will take that walk down the road of life together. MICHAEL: After Shelby died, you came into my life, and then you left, after Natalya came in. And when that was annulled, you came right back into my life. I realized how empty my life was without you, my beautiful Wendy. You took that spot that I never thought could be filled by anyone else and filled it to overflowing. As you said, love found a way and it brought us back together and to this point in our life. I will be a wonderful husband to you and to never take you for granted. We will always be together, and until death finally separates us, you and I will take that long walk down the road of life together. PASTOR: The rings please? (Dylan gives his father Wendy's ring; while Vivienne gives Wendy Michael's ring) PASTOR: Repeat after me, Wendy, with this ring, I thee wed. WENDY (as she slips the ring on Michael's finger): With this ring, I thee wed. PASTOR: Now you, Michael, repeat after me, with this ring, I thee wed. MICHAEL (as he slips the ring on Wendy's finger): With this ring, I thee wed. PASTOR: By the power vested in me by God and the commonwealth of Massachusetts, I am pleased to pronounce you man and wife. Michael, you may kiss the bride. (Michael lifts Wendy's veil and kisses her.) PASTOR: Friends and family, I want to introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harper. (The family applauds. Erica is pleased, she is happy that Michael is happy again. The camera pans across the applauding family.) WENDY: Join us at the house where the reception is. (The family adjourns to the mansion for the reception.) (Voice of Greg Rikaart: "On the next Harpers Falls...") (The family are at Michael and Wendy's wedding reception) |
