HARPERS FALLS EPISODE #559

Created by: AlbieGray

Written by: Albie Gray

SCENE ONE: A school bus headed away from Beacon Hill. Jennifer and Violet are sitting together. Jennifer is texting someone and typing "I luv ya".

VIOLET: Are you serious?
JENNIFER: What?
VIOLET: You're already telling Camera you love him? You guys have only been dating for a month...
JENNIFER: Shut up you're just jealous.
VIOLET: Of what?
JENNIFER: That I have a boyfriend and you never have had one.
VIOLET: That's before Jennifer, you can't love someone in 7th grade.
JENNIFER: Whatever.
(Violet rolls her eyes. The differences between the twins was clearly evident.)
JENNIFER: Oh gosh!
VIOLET: Now what?
JENNIFER: Bethany the bitch gets on next!
VIOLET: Sshh! The bus driver might hear you!
JENNIFER: What if she asks about Dylan and Barry?
VIOLET: What do you mean? I thought you approve of them now.
JENNIFER: I do, but Bethany doesn't! She thinks Dylan is a slut!
VIOLET: So? Who cares what she thinks?
JENNIFER: Who cares? The whole school! She is the most popular girl in the whole school and if she doesn't like me, I'll have no social life.
VIOLET: Wow, you are SO insecure. Don't you remember who we are? We're Harpers.
JENNIFER: Sorry, I just don't wanna end up like you.
(Violet is shocked her sister would be so mean)
VIOLET (furious): Move!
JENNIFER: What?
VIOLET: I'm getting out!
JENNIFER: Huh?
VIOLET: That was too low, Jenn! Even for you!
(Jennifer lets Violet out, while Bethany enters. She sits next to Jennifer)
BETHANY: Hey girl! Any updates on what that slut has done to weird VanAnderman now?

(Jennifer looks at Violet, who is upset)

Scene Two: Boston City Jail

GUARD: You are to kill her!
KIMBERLY: You are crazy! I can't kill her!
GUARD: Of course you can! You're not her lawyer anymore.
KIMBERLY: She may be obnoxious as hell, but that isn't enough to kill her!
GUARD: Fine, then I will do it myself.
KIMBERLY: Then you will be locked in prison, and not as a guard, but as an INMATE!
GUARD: You will go down too.
KIMBERLY: Maybe so, but at least YOU will go down with me, especially when I tell them what you proposed!

(The guard storms away, Kimberly is sickened)

Scene Three: Vivienne's condo. She and Wendy are rearranging things after Patricia moved back to West Palm Beach.

WENDY: This is the first time in a long while we've been able to do anything together, even if it's rearranging the condo.
VIVIENNE: It is indeed. Patricia called and let me know that she, Roger and Caitlyn got there all right. Kip met them when they got into town, and the first thing they did was to go to Alicia's grave.
WENDY: Did they mourn Bill?
VIVIENNE: Yes, they did. They might come back to hopefully find out this whole situation with Alicia's child.
WENDY: That is something I have never figured out, though.
VIVIENNE: Me neither. Has Eric gotten there safely?
WENDY: I've not heard.
(Wendy's cell phone rings. It's Eric)
VIVIENNE: Who is it?
WENDY: It's Eric.
ERIC (over the phone): Mom?
WENDY: Honey, did you get to school?
ERIC: Yes, I got registered, got me a nice apartment. It was one that Aunt Patricia owns. I am down here safe.
WENDY: I am so glad you're safely there.
ERIC: I am too. It's going to be a nice school, the campus is lovely, and it's near enough to the parks.
WENDY: Well, you do well.
(Wendy ends the call)
VIVIENNE: How is he?
WENDY: He is fine. All moved in. Patricia found him a place.

(Wendy is still missing her son. Vivienne puts her arm around her sister.)

Scene Four: Dylan's townhouse. Barry and Dylan are talking with Dylan's Uncle Jason, Violet and Jennifer's father.

DYLAN: I don't know how much good my talk did.
JASON: I thought it helped. It's amazing how different my daughters are.
BARRY: I know, Violet is so level-headed and down to earth; Jennifer is more status conscious.
JASON: Don't worry about it, you two. Violet can manage to talk down Jennifer when she gets too out of hand.
BARRY: From what I am hearing, one of their classmates have been making some rather nasty comments about Dylan.
JASON: What do you mean, Barry?
DYLAN: I got a text message from an unknown number, and it basically called me a slut!
JASON: I can talk with the girls and find out what is going on. If you want me to, that is.
DYLAN: I would appreciate that, Uncle Jason.
JASON: I won't allow that kind of talk to my family. I will talk to Jennifer about it.
BARRY: How do you know that it's one of Jennifer's friends?
JASON: Because, Violet doesn't let things like that bother her.
DYLAN: And remember, Barry, Violet approves of us.

(Barry hugs Dylan close, while Jason smiles)

Scene Five: Vivienne's Condo.

WENDY: Michael has told me something about the Lamberts baby issue, but I have never seemed to get it. What happened?
VIVIENNE: Granted I don't know all that much myself. Only what Patricia told me.
WENDY: Sounds complicated.
VIVIENNE: It is. Apparently, Alicia was pregnant. She had been with a guy she had known from college. The man ran out on her when she first was carrying the baby. After she had the baby, she put it up for adoption. A foster family adopted her. After that, nothing was heard about the child again, until Erica and Samantha had DNA tests taken. Neither of them were the mothers. Then they did a DNA test on Alicia after she had been murdered, and it was her child that was adopted.
WENDY: That is terrible. I hope it all goes well for the Lamberts.
VIVIENNE: Nobody knows when they will be back. The courts will call them.
WENDY: How Patricia managed is beyond me.
VIVIENNE: She does so, because she is strong.

(Vivienne and Wendy finish their coffee in silence.)

(Voice of Wil Heuser: "Harpers Falls will continue in a moment, here on ONtv.")

Scene Six: Jason's condo. Violet is talking with her father.

VIOLET: Dad, I've never seen Jennifer more callous.
JASON: What do you mean, honey?
VIOLET: She was so mean and was so busy fawning over Bethany Arthur.
JASON: Who is Bethany Arthur?
VIOLET: Supposedly the most popular girl in school. Everyone has to bow down to the girl, I find her to be a pain!
JASON: I would think she wouldn't be harassing the family.
VIOLET: Why do you say that?
JASON: I was over at Dylan's house, he had told me that he had been getting some strange text messages.
VIOLET: What did they say?
JASON: That he is a slut!
VIOLET: Only ONE person could be doing that, and I know Jennifer is trying to come around with Dylan and Barry. I bet it's that Bethany!
JASON: How could she have gotten Dylan's number?
VIOLET: That is what I don't get either, Dad.

(Violet is trying to piece it together.)

Scene Seven: Federal Courthouse. Anyssa is sitting outside of the courtroom. The jury had just went to deliberate over the case. Alexandra's testimony went smooth as silk. But she still can't shake the facts that while Alexandra will be acquitted, so will Libby, due to lack of evidence.

BRYAN: Still no word?
ANYSSA: Nothing. The jury has been out for four hours.
BRYAN: I called Sheila and told her we would be late for dinner.
ANYSSA: That is good. It may be a long night. One more hour, and the jury will be sequestered.
(A buzzer sounds.)
BAILIFF: Jury has a verdict, Mrs. Forson.
ANYSSA: A kiss for luck, honey?
(Bryan kisses his wife)
BRYAN: For love, honey. We're two of the best prosecutors in New England, we can do it.
ANYSSA: We can do that.
(Cut to the inside of the court room.)
JURY FOREMAN: We the jury in the above entitled action find the defendant, Elizabeth Atchison guilty of the crime of criminal facilitation in the death of Alexander Corwin.
(groans throughout the courtroom. The jury convicted her, but not on murder, but for possible manslaughter, the lesser charge)
ANYSSA: Damn it! She's gonna walk!
BRYAN: Not quite. Alexandra's testimony helped with the verdict.
ALEXANDRA: Your husband's right, Ms. Forson. Libby isn't going to walk.
(The judge's sentence shocks the courtroom)
JUDGE: Libby, you will be sentenced to a year in prison, suspended.

(Alexandra shoots a glare at Libby, who smirks)

Scene Eight: Violet is walking down Charles Street close by where the rest of her family lives. She is more disgusted than anything at her sister. She is still trying to figure out how Bethany Arthur had gotten her cousin, Dylan's number to text him such dreadful messages. She runs into her cousin, Sheila, who is coming from her office.

SHEILA: Vi! What are you doing out here today?
VIOLET: I was walking over to the school, I have some homework to do, and I do it better there than I can at home.
SHEILA: I can arrange to have one of my vacant offices to be at your disposal, Vi.
VIOLET: Sheila, you don't have to do that.
SHEILA: Nonsense, cousin. I insist.
VIOLET: Thanks, Sheila. Sometimes, Jennifer can be too loud, and I want to make sure I get honor roll again.
(Enter Christina)
CHRISTINA: Hi, honey. What are you doing here?
SHEILA: I have just convinced her to have her own study here at the office.
CHRISTINA: That is good. It will be nice to have your own study here with us.
SHEILA: And she can work in a privacy that would be good for her.
(Enter Cynthia)
CYNTHIA: Violet, darling. How are you?
VIOLET: Hello, Ms. Archer.
CYNTHIA: Sheila found the perfect office for you, love. I think you will like it indeed.
VIOLET: I am sure I will.

(The four go in together and take a look at Violet's study.)

Scene Nine: Jennifer is texting on her phone.

JENNIFER (to Camera via Text): How are you doing, sexii?
CAMERA: Thinkin' of u.
JENNIFER (via Text): What did u hear about Bethany?
CAMERA: Nothing. She won't say anything about how she got his number.
JENNIFER: She's the queen of the school, I'll just DIE if she's not my friend.
CAMERA: Someone had to have given your cousin's name and number.
JENNIFER: Or someone else got to either mine or Violet's contacts.
CAMERA: I don't know.

(Jennifer is confused.)

Scene Ten: A bus stop near the corner of Revere and Pinckney Streets near Beacon Hill.

BETHANY: This is drab. I hope I find my connection who had gotten that slutty Dylan's number.
(A young man comes up to her.)
YOUNG MAN: Sorry I am late.
BETHANY: My parents pay you good money to get results! And I WANT results.
YOUNG MAN: Why are you thinking to cross the Harpers? What bad turn did they ever do to you?!
BETHANY: It's the principle of the thing. You culled his number from Jennifer's cell phone, did you?
YOUNG MAN: Of course I did.
(unbeknownst to everyone else, Violet is overhearing the entire conversation)
BETHANY: By slandering him, it will hit the Harpers where it matters.
YOUNG MAN: You are crazy! I got that information for you to slander one of the most powerful people in Boston?
BETHANY: Whatever! My parents want their money's worth, and to bring those stupid Harpers down will be a boon to my parents!
YOUNG MAN: I don't think your parents would approve of what you are doing!
BETHANY: You let me worry about my stupid parents!
(Out comes Violet)
VIOLET: No, you'd best worry about ME! Slandering my cousin, isn't that just like you!

(Violet shoots Bethany a vicious glare)

(Voice of Madeline Zima: "On the Next Harpers Falls..."

MICHAEL (to Mr. Arthur): I have heard that somehow, your daughter has been slandering my son, by calling him a slut!

VIOLET (to Bethany): Your popularity will fall once I tell the entire school what you did to my cousin!

MR. ARTHUR (to Michael): You can be assured Bethany will be punished for what she has done to you and your son.
