Jenn Atherton was sitting at the desk in her new room at the Futura Resort. She had thought about it, and she needed a job. Which would be a good thing. The night before, she and Aaron had a huge argument. And he turned and went back to Los Angeles to talk about a movie. Sarah Jo and Joan had thought it over too, and they offered her a job, much like the one she had while she was working at Elixir. She would be under the Disney employ, much like Sarah Jo and Joan were, but that didn't make any difference to her. It would be wonderful to work again. Aidan was being watched over by one of the on site baby sitters. Her name was Julie Wilkins, who was also one of the head desk clerks. Jenn was dressed and she had to go and talk to the Casting director at Casting. Since she had been recommended by Sarah Jo, and she had impeccable credentials, she was hired as a floor manager. She would still do office work, which was her forte. Sarah Jo had had Jenn, Aidan and Aaron move into one of the new Planetary suites. Usually they were relegated to people who had a special club membership, but Sarah Jo and Joan, who had become fond of Jenn and Aidan, pulled some strings to have them move in. Joan, however, became fond of both Jenn and Aidan. They had it tough, and Aaron was no help. Sarah Jo had no liking for Aaron as it was, she never had. She had always thought that Aaron was a snob and there was something phony about him. Sarah Jo, Joan and Jennifer had discussed this over coffee, while Jenn was putting things away in their new home. "I just don't get it," Sarah Jo said, "I mean, why did you marry Aaron of all people? Of all the people in the fraternity, you married Aaron Atherton. I mean, you could have married Zach Jansen. Remember Zach? He became one of the most wealthy businessmen in Los Angeles." "I know," Jenn said sadly, "Zach is a good guy, and maybe I should have married him, but if I hadn't married Aaron, I don't think I would have had Aidan." "I don't think you should ever regret having Aidan," Joan said softly, "I guess, I really never understood how he could do that." "It's worse than you think, Joan," Jenn said, "before we left Los Angeles, I caught him and Rusty Brown in bed with one another." "Oh my goodness," Joan said, "I bet that was a shock." "If he had told me that he was gay right out of the starting gate, I wouldn't have thought anything of it," Jenn said, as she put the dishes in the cupboard, "but Rusty doesn't like me, any more than you like Aaron, Sarah." "My view on Rusty Brown is this," Sarah Jo said acidly, "he's no good, and he and Aaron are more than made for one another." "I would agree with that," Jenn said, "definitely. Joan, did Julie say when she would bring Aidan back?" "That's the news," Sarah Jo said, "she called, and she is on her way with him now." "And what timing," Joan said, "look who else is coming back!" Jenn's stomach sank, it was Aaron. He had caught an earlier flight back from Los Angeles and he took the Lynx bus to the Transportation and Ticket Center, and took the monorail back to the resort. "And I am not even finished with unpacking!" Jenn fretted. "Don't worry, hon," Joan said, "Sarah Jo and I will help you, because Julie will be bringing Aidan here." A few minutes later, the girls had gotten everything put away. And in time too. Julie brought Aidan in to the room. "Hi, Mommy," he said, grinning, "Hi, Aunt Sarah, Hi, Ms. Ferguson." "Please," Joan grinned, "call me Joan." "Hi there, sweetheart," Jenn hugged her son, "how was it?" "He was an angel," Julie Wilkins grinned, "hardly a problem. He played with his car, and his favorite teddy bear." "I am so proud of you, sweetie," Jenn hugged him, "Mommy will be back and she will take you to dinner." At that moment, Aaron walked in. The cold greetings of the women were evident, but Aidan ran to his father, a look of joy on his face. "Daddy!" he said, "I missed you." Aaron hugged his little boy close, "I missed you too, Slugger," he said, holding him close, "can you go and play in your room? Daddy wants to talk to Mommy, WITHOUT an audience!" he added pointedly to Sarah Jo and Joan. Aidan ran to his room, "Go watch him, will you, Julie?" Joan asked. "Yes, Ms. Ferguson," Julie nodded, and went to the boy's room. "Jenn stepped out a moment, and then she is taking Aidan to dinner," Sarah Jo said coldly, "I am surprised you came back!" "Why the HELL do you have to interfere with Jenn's life?!" Aaron said angrily. Joan had walked out of the room to go back to the front desk. "Maybe it's because she is my best friend and sorority sister!" Sarah Jo snapped. "So what?!" he thundered, "She is my wife." "Not the way you're acting," Sarah Jo snapped, "I saw you yesterday, talking to your friend, Rusty!" "Can't ANYONE in this place have any damned privacy?!" Aaron spat. "Not when your actions hurt my best friend," Sarah Jo snapped, "and I was walking by when you were talking!" "You don't care about me," Aaron said, "you never did!" "I never liked you from the first day!" Sarah Jo said spitefully, "Ever since you first came into the Greek System, you thought you were entitled! You're so affected it's not even funny!" "Aaron," a familiar voice thundered, it was Jennifer, "what the hell did you do?! You went down to Los Angeles, and talked about that damned movie, didn't you?" "Of course I did, Jennifer," he said angrily, "you knew I had to do that!" "Oh, yeah," she said sullenly, "I DID remember that. How's Albie?" "He's as fine as he could be," Aaron said, "you know Albie, and he manages as well as he can." "Who's Albie?" Sarah Jo asked Jenn. "Albie Neuenworth," Jennifer explained, "he's a screenwriter back in Los Angeles, and he's doing a movie about the Elixir killings." "Oh yes," Sarah Jo said, "I DO remember him. A sweeter guy there never was. He was at UCLA too, wasn't he?" "Yes," Jenn said, "he and Darren D'Aiterio are best friends. In fact, he was Aaron's fraternity's little brother. In fact, he was brought in on Darren's recommendation because he had nobody else." "Nice," Sarah Jo said, "I remember him being at some of the Greek functions. He was very sweet, and very quiet. Unlike Aaron and Rusty. Maybe you should have him visit here." "I'll ask him, and his sister, Joan," Jenn said, "that would be good for him." Meanwhile, Aaron went into his room, and got his cell phone. "Hi Rusty," he said, "yeah, it's all ready! I'll slam the divorce papers on her tonight, and then I will work on getting custody of Aidan. I know, it may make it hard for us to be together, but I can say that I'll be the primary caregiver, while you are the supporting." A nasty glint came to Aaron's eyes, "Indeed, Rusty," he said, "and once I get the divorce, then you and I can be together with Aidan, and there isn't a damned thing Jennifer can do!" Aaron hung up the phone and smiled nastily, You want to play me, Jennifer? he thought, Then you prepare to play very rough! I won't be stopped by you OR your stupid sorority sister!
