Well Happy new year
Good to be back

Not a huge meeting but a good one with a little rowdyness but this time from the old boys.

The usual end of year tradition is/was to play something daft with multi players - Pirates - Zombies or something equally ridiculous. That didn't happen so why not start the year in that manner?

So while Phil was quietly teaching Blood bowl - The old boys were introduced to a little Board game I got for Xmas:-

SURVIVE - ESCAPE FROM ATLANTIS
This game is actually 30 years old and was rereleased as a 30th anniversary version back in 2011/12 it won awards last year at one of the many German game shows, apparently the germans really love their board games, who knew!

The idea is quite simple
You build an island out of hex counters So its always random- You place your Explorers (Meaples) one to a hex - you place two boats each.

Your turn consists of moving your Meap's to get them on a boat or put them in the water as swimmers. then removing one tile (the island is sinking!) then rolling a dice to control any sea monsters currently on the board.

On the underside of the tile are things to do immediately - Place a boat, Shark, Whale and things you can play later - Anti shark, anti whale Friendly dolphin, fast boat.
The whales sink boats and put the passengers in the water, The sharks eat the swimmers and the sea serpents just eat everything.
The game ends when the volcano tile is revealed at that point everything still in the water is destroyed and you count up your Meaples Which can be done two ways - the actual number of meaples or totaling the value (marked on the underside) of your meaples.

Marcus won by one Point

Its a plain and simple escape while stitching your opponents up by removing the ground from under their feet sinking their boats and moving sea monsters to devour their swimmers while all the time trying to get your boats and Meaples to dry land.
Yes I know its not WAR but its a game it took me about five minutes to explain and the first ten minutes of the game for everyone to pretty much grasp the rules and YES we were rowdy Sorry guys But in our defence we were having FUN.

Thanks to Will, Marcus, Justin (good to see him back) I will bring it along again on request and encourage more of this.
More of a social game but isnt that a big part of club life, the Social?

Sorry I missed out, I have been running to and from west suffolk hospital as my wife was admitted on Monday. I didn't have time to let people know, but I should be all set for the 25th. Do any 40k'ers want a match up?

If I'm fit to make it I'll take you on.

I can do 1850pts mixed IG/GK with a Super heavy if you want to bring along your Crimson Fists.

I've finally gotten my Desperadoes painted to a fieldable level so if anyone is up to the challenge I'll bring them along.

OK Patrick I will be bringing terrain for IHMH, for Marcus and Will (we were doing a run through for Will but it will be easier with just two factions).
If I can get Marcus to bring along The DMH terrain for us, I'll give my Pinkertons another run out or maybe try the Cavalry?
