Busy enough only two main games going on but plenty of chat. I decided to dust off the Brecourt Manor scenario now that I have a mat marked up for ease of set up. Colin stepped up to attempt the task of blowing up the guns. The scenario is based on Napnuts scenario brief and uses the Disposable heroes rule set (just as well as it is our core rule set) So the quiet before the storm table set up ready. ![]() First move to the Airborne sneaking through the undergrowth ![]() Winters leads his group and an LMG into the trenches ![]() Lipton makes it through (alone) to the first gun ![]() Winters group make it to the second gun ![]() Sadly this was as far as Winters got. By turn three the German group entered from the lower corner and with the assistance of the two MG 34 made it difficult for Winters to carry on. Having lost both LMG early on he had no support against the advancing German platoon. Although Colin almost never failed to make his Morale checks it was the amount of 1s the Germans managed to get to hit the Paras in the trenches (hard cover) that was the hard part for him. I try not to give too much away when someone plays this for the first time but Colin soon realised what Marcus had in an earlier encounter "Grenades" to suppress the MG and pin then assault, Place your own LMG in the now (hopefully) empty gun pit and use this to cover the advancing Germans so you can get to the third gun, siting the second LMG at the end of the trench before gun 2 or at the trench end between guns 2 and 3 After making the third gun you get the Spiers group as reinforcements to take out the last gun, allowing anyone left to cover his advance but this was not to be. THIS TIME! I am sure Colin and I will run this again soon and he will be on the ball with the way you assault initially. It has to be quite aggressive, the scenario rules allow for the airborne to get quite close as no one reacts until under fire/assaulted, you almost certainly have to use fire and maneouver well and support those moving with the LMGs. once you have the tactic right you can only imagine just how hectic it is trying to take a position like this with surprise. Over on the 40K table it appeared that Imperial guard were doing their own assaulting. And making it Stick by all accounts. August 8 Table 1 Table 2 Table 3 Table 4 I will be on call that night -will be there but not getting too involved. Edited by kendoman, Jul 27 2016, 11:40 AM.
