Thoughts on CSM? i play them so i only have good things to say! i think the top CSM player is only ranked something like 14th at the moment, but that doesnt really reflect them since the new codex came out! if you was gonna pick 1 force from the set id pick angels as colin is right the csm starter is poor. If you take a good CSM army you may keep the cultist as for 50pts per unit (withno upgrades) you can soon fill your troops allocation and then buy the good stuff! So yeah you will keep the cultists as cannon fodder. Otherwise the Hellbrute doesnt make it into a good list and the Chosen are way too much of a point sink, there are much better options at every points level so you wouldnt use them. Then there is the Chaos Lord which you would probably use depends what you wanna do. Although i say that, the Chosen Champion does look to make a good sorcerer lord conversion with a few extra bits. But then when you look at the dark angel army it is an awesome list straight out the box, you would just need another set of troops i think i make it legal and its a decent list right there. i will probably play 40K next meet, either organise a game against Alex on here or if i think im gonna finish the Helldrakes ill play Osiris on a 6x4. |

@Ghorros: Sadly, many of the armies are lacking in the variety department. As has been said by Rich and Colin, Grey knights are THE elite army. You can make 1500pt lists with little over 10 models (hint: do not do that). That said any space marine chapter is relatively elite. Necrons, as Rich has aluded to, are overall the strongest army in 40k, with some lists being utterly broken at this point (all fear the flying croissants). Again, not wonderfully varied though. For variety, my shout would be eldar (craftworld, not dark), with some great looking models with lots of different colours and aesthetics. It being an older codex, you will inherently not have a great abundance of models. Nevertheless, they are still plenty competitive as well, with the 9th ranked player in the country as testimony to that. Never mind if they get an update. @tomb william: Nids look great on the table and are infact still very competitive, currently the 5th ranked army (though orcs and guard aren't far behind). Just be prepared to weep if you ever stand opposite a shooty dark eldar list as poison hard counters their high T values. My own dark kin crushed a friends nids 3 times in quick succession, with only a single hull point lost on my part across all 3 games. |

I think craftworle eldar are great, I love the clean elven theme to them. though I think they are due to be updated soon, as the rumour mill has high elves for April I think craftworld eldar was following them? |

I heard High elves was pushed back to May and that Tau was the next 40k codex sometime June/July. Eldar after tau butr whether they'll do three 40k codices in a year I don't know. |

Tau have had sufficient love from the changes in 6th edition (particularly the changes to rapid fire) and the subsequent FAQs (disruption pods!) that they really don't need an update. |

I'm guessing that is why they are rumoured to be next for the upgrade, the upgrade being a downgrade to get them back to being an army you can play against rather than just die against.

That would make sense. Most of the newer codices have addressed some of the choices that were previously overpowered or undercosted. Provided Matt Ward isn't allowed anywhere near it that is. And the Eldar update, when it comes, has to be Phil Kelly. |

It's rumored that Robin Cruddace is doing Tau, Phil Kelly is doing Eldar, Matt Ward is doing Orks and Phil is also going to be doing Black Templar too. |
