Ok guys, so some big rules debates tonight, a few could have been avoided but not rushing into the game and deciding a few things before the game...

But anyway, the main point of this thread is to discuss 'Death From The Skies'

Now the "official" (and i quote it because it is what the internet is telling me) ruling, is that the DFTS book is a supplement. In that it is not a requirement to play.

Some of the rules section are designed to bring together FAQ's and erratas and even white dwarf updates to one place, hence why they have been removed from the GW site.

Also the point costing, options and weapons are at the back for people to be able to adequately select their army list etc. However all of the in between stuff (dog fighting, aces etc etc) are all supplemental, optional rules which are not part of the core 40k rules and are apparently just a bringing together of the "Crusade of Fire" campaign book.

So i would say, if all agree, that the official house ruling on DFTS is that it is not a requirement and that it is to be agreed upon prior to the game. Any objections please voice them. Obviously the only compulsory part to this is the fact that some core rules are included (flyer stats and weapon stats etc).

That's fine as far as I'm concerned.

I agree that rules need to be decided upon before the game starts as it can have major implications for the remainder of the battle. On that I would say that we have to use the main rule book as the "gospel" and make house rules where we think they should be different rather than house rules first then consult the main book.
