We re-introduced a few carbs after staying on Phase 1 for at least 2 weeks. I wait and see how my body reacts with each addition. Many want to stay away from some of the carbs a while longer until their symptoms are completely gone. It is recommended for athletes, children and pregnant or nursing moms to start on Phase 2 NOT Phase 1. * Dairy is the same as stated previously. * Fruits add fresh pineapple. * In the fresh vegetable section, please feel free to add peas and beans. (Read the labels as many have added sugar or corn syrup.) Also you may add the large squashes on occasion. Sweet potatoes are also allowed as they are very high in vitamins and minerals. * For those of us who are missing all the breads & grains, a few are now allowed. Flour tortillas and Real Sour Dough Bread. Look for products with no added yeast. Also Soda Bread in moderation. Also add Old-Fashioned cooked oatmeal, and the grains Spelt, Quinoa (keen-WAH), barley, millet, amaranth, brown rice, and buckwheat. I also make homemade biscuits and other bread products which do not contain sugar or yeast. If any of these provoke a reaction in you, please remove them from your diet and either return to Phase One or just leave them off until later. |
