Frist, learn to differientiate between head hunger and real, stomach hunger.

Do not eat until you feel hunger pangs.

Once you feel the hunger pangs, or dizziness, light headed, etc.... then you can eat, but only eat 1/2 of what you would get from the restaurant. A meat should be the size of your fist. Drink water 30 min. before the meal to help dilute the acids (delay hunger) and get hydrated (this is from Water Cure - but IMO was missing from Weigh down).

If you feel like you want to eat but you are not truly hungry, pray or read Scipture. Do a hobby, go for a walk. Get away from food and get your mind on to something else.

It takes about a week to learn what "satisfied" feels like. You should be able to tell and then not be comfortable eating more than satisfied. If you have to loosen your belt, you've over done it. If you have to remove your belt and lie down, you have REALLY over done. DON'T do that again!

You will probably move to eating 4 or 5 small meals instead of 3 larger meals. This is actually better for your body.

If there is a cheat food, it is OK to eat a bite or 2 but don't feel like you have to eat the whole thing! Just get a taste and get away from it.

Take 1/2 of restaurant meals with you. Get the To-Go box when the meal is brought, don't take the yucky left-overs...take half while it still looks good.

Eat one bite at a time, don't cram. Taste the food. Remember that the stomach cannot taste. The tongue tastes, so let it do it's job.

If you are not taking home 1/2 your meal, then only eat the pretty pieces. Ignore the broken, ugly pieces. Eat only the best! Get snooty with your food. You are a child of God and deserve the best! :)

Don't weigh every day. Only weigh once a week and at the same time of the day. This is the only way to be able to gauge weight loss correctly. Daily takes averaging...due to water levels, hormones, etc...

I will get my books out and add more to this...

If I got all my diet books out we could have Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Fit or Fat, Fat Flush, Fasting, South Beach, Atkins, etc.

And finally, Doug Kaufmann's .... the one I was able to LIVE WITH! I think that is the KEY to any eating plan, you have to make it YOURS and a plan you can do FOR LIFE .....
