I need everyone's input! Do I need to change anything, add anything, remove anything? FEEDBACK please! ![]() Health Hoaxes Here are the top health hoaxes currently circulating. Remove and avoid these health pitfalls and gain true health! (I quote Dr. Mercola’s web-site most as he quotes many other sources.) High Fructose Corn Syrup is OK in moderation and is the same as sugar - Not true. High Fructose Corn Syrup is linked to obesity, diabetes and many other diseases. It is arguably one of the most toxic substances you can consume. On top of the fact that all corn is contaminated with fungus (a very detailed and complex process) it is not a natural food. Corn is and always has been a Genetically Modified food. It is used to fatten meat animals and causes well documented diseases in animals. Stay clear of any food containing HFCS. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...p-diabetes.aspx Diet sodas are good for you - Not true! Diet sodas contain chemicals which can be deadly. The sweeteners used are toxic to the body. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...diet-sodas.aspx Regular soft drinks are no better. Phosphorus in all sodas bind with any calcium you consume causing it to be unusable by the body. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...op-dangers.aspx Splenda is a good alternative to sugar - Not true. As discussed below, chlorine binds with and removes other minerals necessary for good health. Splenda is the sweetness removed from sugar bound with a chlorine molecule. You are basically ingesting chlorine and removing other necessary nutrients. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...-questions.aspx My kids NEED milk for calcium - Not true. Not only is milk dead because of Pasteurization, but that process causes milk to become toxic when used long term. Even more important to most American’s diets is Magnesium. Kids require more magnesium than calcium as do adults. If you MUST consume milk, look for raw, whole milk products. http://www.mercola.com/article/milk/no_milk.htm Fat is bad - Not true. Fat from animals fed grains is not good for you, true. There are good fats and bad fats and your body was designed to understand fats in moderation when from good sources. The processed, grain-fed fats are most certainly not good for your body. They are high in Omega 6s. Studies show that diets high in Omega 6 fats cause many health issues. http://products.mercola.com/grass-fed-beef/ http://www.mercola.com/beef/references.htm Coral Calcium - the body cannot absorb ground up rocks of any type. The mineral must be released from the hardened earth first. This applies to Calcium carbonate as well. Ground up limestone is not usable by the body. Look for Calcium Citrate for the most usable form. Better yet, eat dark leafy greens for your calcium. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2003/06/25/coral-calcium.aspx Canola Oil is healthy - Not true. Canola Oil is refined oil from the rapeseed plant. It is called Canola Oil because it was developed in Canada (Can-ola). It is not healthier for your body as it is still refined. The best oil for your body is Extra Virgin Olive Oil and it should be kept cool and dark not on top of your stove. It is a raw - unrefined oil and it is high in enzymes, vitamins and minerals. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...4/con-ola1.aspx Yogurt is good for you - Only raw, unprocessed, no sugar added, unflavored yogurt is truly good for you. Look for organic which is better than the fruity, sugar filled ones. Also look for active cultures. The count is important the higher the better. The type of culture is also important. There are many cultures being pushed which are not long-term tested for human health. Human strain probiotics (good bacteria) are the best for humans, not soil-based bacteria. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...une-system.aspx http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...s-part-two.aspx Eggs are bad for you - Not true. In fact, research shows that persons who eat 6 or more whole eggs per week have lower cholesterol than those who eat 2 or fewer whole eggs per week. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles.../egg-myths.aspx Soy is good for you - Not true. Soy may have a few good points but contains a very high level of estrogen mimics. Estrogen is highly problematic causing PMS and other “female problems” as well as neutering male sex organs. This holds true for other estrogen mimics such as certain chemicals and plastics. Estrogen is a known cancer feeder. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...ore-on-soy.aspx Plastics improve life - Not really. If you knew everything about plastics you would probably choose not to use them at all. Not only do they not break down in our environment for a long time, they wreak havoc on our bodies in numerous ways, not the least of which is estrogen mimics which leach into foods. The estrogen from plastics is worse in fatty foods such as cheeses and meats. See Soy info. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...in-plastic.aspx Corn is a vegetable - hence, good for you - Not true. It is a grain and highly contaminated with fungus according to our own 911 Commission. It is used to fatten meat animals and is highly documented to cause disease. If it fattens animals, it does fatten humans as well. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...0/corn-fat.aspx Alcohol is OK in moderation - Not true. If it were alcohol made in biblical times, perhaps, but today’s mass produced alcohols are not good for our bodies. The use of commercial yeast is deadly. There is no evidence that red wines or other alcohols are the reason for other countries apparent “health.” http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...re-cancers.aspx Iodine is toxic - Not true. Iodine is important for proper nutrition. Probably the main reason Asian countries enjoy better health even with all the other things they consume is the amount of iodine they take in on a daily basis. Most estimates claim Japanese peoples consume up to 100X the US RDA for iodine. http://optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-08/IOD_08.htm This does not include the radioactive iodine used in medical testing which can be deadly. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...ive-iodine.aspx Organic foods - there is a huge market for “organic” foods. I have met people who claim to produce organic foods and they are not regulated nor can they control the acreage around their property. Only Certified Organic is truly organic. Certification goes through a 3 year process. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...ng-organic.aspx Cleaning with bleach kills mold - Not true. Clorox and other bleaches only remove the color from the offending mold and mildew. It does not kill the roots and the problem will return. Orange Oil and Oil of Oregano will kill the mold roots and all. They will not remove all the stains, however. Not only will chlorine ruin clothing but chlorine, bromine and fluorine remove other helpful nutrients from the body. Better the stain than health problems. http://z11.invisionfree.com/Health_411/ind...p?showtopic=111 Fluoride toothpastes prevent cavities - Not true. Not only does fluorine not prevent cavities, it removes helpful nutrients from the body. Ever wonder why they tell you not to swallow it yet they add it to our water! The use of fluorine, which is left over from aluminum smelting, is injuring us and our children. http://www.consumerhealth.org/articles/dis...=19990303222823 |

You just want input on the information??? I guess you can't really post a 'flyer' on a forum huh. When you say 'flyer' I think of something with pix, art, design and info. The info is good, but not sure if 'hoax' is the right word it. Perhaps myths? Just a thought. |

Good point. However, several sites I visited including Mercola, say Hoax. "1. something intended to deceive or defraud: The Piltdown man was a scientific hoax." - dictionary.com I think most of these fit that. Scientists, FDA and AMA KNOW these things are not true! I just thought of these two: Lower cholsterol is good - and - Lower salt is good for you. Both false. |

I think the info is excellent but pix or graphics would help it a lot, esp. if they are hyperlinked. I get lots of newsletters and flyers in my email and the ones with graphics are much more attractive to me and I am more likely to read them.
